The quality switching starts automatically by automatically picking the best resolution. But user has an option to choose lower/higher resolution if he wants from drop down menu. If you wish to completely disable the function you can use qsel=”no” in a shortcode.

The video autoplays for me on desktop in Firefox and Safari. What browser/device you noticed the video not playing?

There are limits for autoplay unfortunately but not from our end. First Safari 11 (released in September 2017) blocked any autoplay video which is not muted. Now Chrome 66 (released in April 2018) blocks autoplay video unless:

* User has interacted with the domain before by clicking or tapping on the website.
* Or the user’s Media Engagement Index (MEI) threshold has been crossed, meaning the user has previously play video with sound.

You can read more about autoplay issues in here.

Autoplay is also not available for mobile devices as these devices often use slower Internet and expensive data. This is hardcoded in the mobile web browsers.

The feature allows you to create a link to a specific part of a video posted on your page, regardless of where it’s hosted. When someone clicks on the link, he will be redirected to the page where the video is posted and will be moved to the video itself, which immediately starts to play at the designated time.

FLV file you can just insert as any other normal file. Please note that it will only work on Flash compatible devices. Although a SWF file may contain some animation, it is not a video file. If you need to insert it, use the standard object and embed tags, or better a library like swfobject for safe fallback for devices with no Flash support (iPad, iPhone…): http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/. Is there any particular reason why you want to use Flash – it will not work on idevices or android devices (since Android 4.1).

FV Player plugins are designed to work with WordPress, although some functions can be used even outside of it. So we don’t have a 100% solution at this moment, as it’s very difficult to adjust anything that requires Ajax for loading (CloudFront, S3, KeyCDN, etc.). On the other hand, we have already resolved how to make Vimeo videos work outside WP. Using the player would however still require you to always make the player’s HTML manually. It is a big step we were thinking of taking – to make a player platform agnostic. But we have no timeline for this yet.

I tested example on my site also in Chrome on mac as your example now serve one good video quality (which is understandable as you want good user experience).

The quality switching for me worked. The first quality that is picked will be the default one served. Maybe there was some problem with naming scheme?

As Martin mentioned, is there a particular reason for using Flash? We do not really recommend it as it is not safe and many device do not support it at all.

I’m not sure I understand the question here. FV Player PRO uses YouTube api to serve videos. You will just insert YouTube URL into our player and it will serve the video wrapped nicely in our player which design you choose. And of course it comes with extra functionality. Or is your question about some video protection with Youtube? Let me know and I’ll be happy to clarify any issues.

FV Player 6 has option to hide control bar completely (both normal and full-screen view) or it is present in normal view and in full screen view in a minimalistic version as a small progress bar at the very bottom.

We changed this in FV Player 7. In normal view there is a progress bar present (can be disabled of course) and in full screen view it disappears on mouse out.

We are hoping to release new FV Player very soon (it is top of the list) but still testing and correcting some minor bugs. We would like to release a stable version that will not need 10 updates in a week and will work smoothly with all the features.

As for the hide the progress bar on mouse out in full screen – have you tried option to hide control bar in settings? Was the control bar still visible?

FV Player settings > post interface options > click control bar and save > when inserting video choose control bar “No” under options tab. Or simply use shortcode controlbar=”no”.

Hi Francesco!

It looks like you are using free version of FV Player with basic embedding of youtube player. Unfortunately in this case pre-rolls or post-rolls will not work with just embedded player. They will work with our Pro Player without any issues. For free version you can use our overlay ads but they will not work in free version
with Youtube hosted videos as for that again advanced API integration that our pro player offers is needed. Let me know if I can give you any more information.

If you want to make your videos private please make sure that in privacy settings on Vimeo you choose:

* Hide this from Vimeo – video will be displayed only on your page, not visible on Vimeo

If you want to protect your video from download please read our guide which option would suit you the best.

As I mentioned earlier best protection our player currently offers is an encrypted HLS stream delivered via Amazon CloudFront. A video is very hard to download and even if someone manages to do that, it will require the decryption key even when viewed offline.

1. If you want to purchase player for a company that is outside EU we do not collect VAT in this case as you have responsibility to handle that in your accounting.

2. If you want to purchase player for a company that resides within EU (already registered but no VAT number yet) please choose in your case “I have an European VAT ID” and do not fill any information and just proceed to paying. The total will include VAT. And when you will get your VAT number contact me immediately and we will issue refund for VAT.

We do not have option to restrict content in a way you want it – to disallow fullscreen unless you pay for it. We only have right now integration for limiting content – part of it could be watched like a trailer (time restriction, not full screen restriction). We would need to do some custom coding but so far we haven’t had any other requests for this feature.

1. We don’t track anything for the end user, or send data to our servers. We always valued privacy and avoided unnecessary collection of information even before GDPR.

There is only tracking involved if you would for example integrate with third party services like Google analytics for statistics about your videos.

2. The 20 minute video at 350 MB has a bitrate of 2.3 Mbps = 298 kB/s. So it might be possible to stream it from a shared hosting server. But if your viewers are coming from the other side of the globe it might play for them too slow. If your video gets a lot of plays, the shared hosting provider might not like it but if it is only occasional play for local customers it should be fine. MP4 gives basically complete cross browser support.

3 videos is just an example you can of course use a lot more videos in playlist 15, 50, 60… To make the playlist start over again use the parameter loop=”true”.

We are providing the player that lets you use Amazon services. We ourselves do not charge any fees or provide this service so unfortunately we cant guarantee or calculate you exact price.

I’d be happy to give you guidance and explanation. Amazon Elastic Transcoder helps you get/transcode a video in the right format. In this case encrypted HLS file. So you will pay for the minute of video being transcoded. Pricing also depends what quality you choose. For example you want to provide for each video mobile, SD and HD quality – you will pay two times (fee x minute of a video) for transcoding video in SD quality and one time for transcoding video in HD quality. This charge is to create a file not to play file.

For storing videos you will need Amazon S3 bucket. Depending on the region you choose (we recommend picking closest one to your main user base) you pay a fee per GB of data stored. Plus some small fees on actions with your data. Amazon Cloudfront is a content delivery system that lets you serve a video no matter where your viewer is. Using just play from your storage from Amazon S3 would be too slow (high latency and low transfer speed). Here you pay for the amount of data transferred in GB (depends on the region) per month – in other words how much in GB your viewers watched videos in a month. Here is some simplified calculator.

Yes, I see the issue. Have you tested the option with no dimensions entered in “Sitewide FV Player Defaults”? (Default video size/width – no values entered). In this case our player takes care of the sizing and responsiveness. Also please make sure that you do not enter any custom dimensions when you are posting the video. I set up a test with your video here with no dimensions entered and it was just adjusted automatically. Does this work for you?

The player will autoplay video once. So if your visitor gets to it again, refreshes the page or closes it and even then comes back within the same device and browser it will not start playing automatically again. A visitor can still of course hit play as usual to see the video if he wants. I have not tested this feature with LayerSlider Pro version (free version does not offer video option) so I cannot confirm it will work 100%. Let us know if there is an issue or you have other additional questions.
