Vimeo seeking issues in FV Player 7 Beta

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Bug Reports › Vimeo seeking issues in FV Player 7 Beta

  • Gbrother 6 years, 11 months ago

    Hello.

I updated to the latest version today.
There is a strange problem in the beta version. When I play, the downloaded area is displayed in white. If I click the white section, playback will stop after a while. No additional videos will load. If I click on a section other than the white section, there is no problem. I am just using release because of this problem.

Please check this issue. Thank you.

    Hi Gbrother!

Can you send us a link to a page where we can see this problem?

    Thank you,

    Lucia

    Hello Gbrother,

please just send a link to some test player, you don’t have to switch to FV Player 7 Beta, we have a way of checking that.

    Thanks,
    Martin

You can test from the link above.
The above problem occurs when set to full screen and 1080p.

There is also a strange problem with full screen and auto.
Sometimes when I move a section, it does not play. Sometimes it is played in low quality. It should still be 1080p quality.

There is no problem in release, but only in beta.

    Hello Gbrother,

the video used in that post appears to be missing. Could you please check?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    I’m sorry.

    I changed the video.
    Please check again.

    Hello Gbrother,

I tried checking this using http://linedraw.co.kr/fv-player-vimeo-test/?fvp_release=z093ja and I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue. I played the video and tried to seek into the buffered parts of video and didn’t had any issues.

Then I switched to 1080p and it still worked well. I reloaded the page and player again – the 1080p quality was properly remembered and I had no issues with seeking back and forth.

However I did see the issue happen once when I tried to seek again. The player was stuck in the buffering phase (yet it was not loading any video segment) and nothing can make it play again. It might be a bug in the Dash JS library. I had to reload the page to be able to play it again. I was using Google Chrome 67.0.3396.87 on OS X 10.12.6.

I will try to reproduce that issue again and at least make sure doing another seek operation will unlock it.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin.

I tested about 10 videos. There was a problem in half of them.

I changed the video on the link page. Continue moving to the segment where the video segment is loaded. There is a problem that play stops.

    Hello Gbrother,

I found these steps to reproduce the issue:

    1) Click the video and wait until it stars playing, ensure it’s 1080p
    2) Seek into 0:30 and wait until it continues playing
    3) Seek into 1:00 and wait until it continues playing
    4) Seek into 1:30 and wait until it continues playing
    5) Seek into 2:00 and wait until it continues playing
    6) Seek into 2:20 and wait until it continues playing
    7) Seek into 2:40 and wait until it continues playing
    8) Then it stops playing at around 2:54 – 3:00
    9) If it still plays, then just seek into the buffered position again and there is good chance it will stop.

Unfortunately I’m getting the same issues even if using the latest Dash JS library – 2.7.0. I was also able to reproduce the issue when using Dash JS library directly – without involving any of the FV Player code in it.

We will report the bug to Dash JS developers. Thank you for your bug report.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Gborther,

FV Player and FV Player Pro versions 7.1.4.726.beta are out. Please update both plugins to that and the issue will be fixed. You will have to first switch to the Beta release, then you should see these beta updates available.

    Thanks,
    Martin

I have a problem with FV Player. Whenever I want to skip 30 munites or more, I cant do it. It does not work until it is completing its buffering for 30 munites. As an example, you can watch videos on youtube and can skip munites whenever you want or on any other player like vlc, etc. Can you

    Hi Nasdhaka!

I tested a random long (1h7m) Vimeo hosted video and haven’t come across any seeking issue with our player (beta – FV Player 7). I tested on mac pro (10.11) in Safari, Firefox and Chrome. Could please send us a link to your video where we could see the issue? And also what device/ browser you were using when you noticed this seeking issue. We’ll have a look.

    Thank you!

    Hi Lucia

It is just a home server, so I am not able to give you a video link, sorry. I am using fv player V6, can you provide link for V7 beta if it’s free. It will be so felpful.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Nasdhaka!

Thank you for additional info. I only guessed you had trouble with Vimeo working with version 7 of our player as it is listed under this topic. V7 is now in beta and available for licensed users. But we are almost done fixing bugs and we will be releasing it very soon in both free and pro add version. We will also announce it in weblog and in change log.

    Lucia
