Hello
I would like to know if you can place a preload uploaded on Google Doubleclick to be displayed default before all the videos uploading on my wordpress theme.

What product do I need? Is there a beta available?

Hi Mirco,

If you are referring to a VAST ad in pre-roll, then you will need to use it with our FV Player VAST plugin. It’s not available in a trial version, but you can test your VAST tags in our tester to see how they will work.

It works!
I wanted to know if I can use vast and then plug in a video on youtube and if you can put everything on wordpress via a plugin at the intersection of the articles.

I have to publish a video inside a news item that has a great preroll and follow the video that hpo uploaded on youtube

The product you recommend is FV Player License – 1 domain $ 75.00?

Is the price to be paid only once or annually?

Hi Mirco,

If you want to serve a VAST ad in front of a video hosted on YouTube and served through FV Player, you will need both the FV Player Pro (the free version doesn’t support YouTube videos) and FV Player VAST. We now offer them in a bundle with reduced price $199 for a single domain.

What is included for an year? Then will I have to pay for prerolls to work after a year?

Hi Mirco,

Yes, the FV Player VAST license has to be renewed yearly. FV Player Pro will be your forever, but it won’t receive updates after the license expires. All other features will remain.

Now everything works perfectly on the desktop.
On mobile I have two issues:
– in mobile prerolls to video youtubes are not displayed (while in a live streming yes)
– in mobile the play button at the center of the video to get it started is too small and it’s difficult to start the videos (you have to press more times).

Hi Mirco,

We had to turn off support for YouTube videos in video ads on mobile until we figure out how to make the system more resilient. See the original Changelog entry:

0.8.14 – 2017/04/20
- Video Ads – YouTube – we received reports that some low-end mobile devices have issues when there is a video ad with a YouTube video. We are disabling the video ad playback when there is a YouTube video for mobile for now, until we figure out which low-end mobile devices should be excluded

This is a big problem
I did all this to put prerolls in front of youtube videos but if all this does not work for mobile it is not usable,
40% of the market we have on mobile and so I can not sell it …
There is not even a time to hope for a solution to the problem?

Hi Mirco,

I’m sorry, I confused your problem with other issue related to custom video ads only. You probably meant the issue with FV Player VAST, which is partially fixed but can be released in two weeks at the earliest.

I checked your website on iOS 10 and Android 6.1.2 and I was able to get a quick ad in pre-roll. Was this a custom video ad?

No, the ad you see now is a prerooll taken by youtube and this way it works.
The fact is that I should use VAST instead that on mobile does not work.

Do you confirm that you are working and that in a few weeks the problem will be resolved?

I can wait without problems but this way for me it is useless.

I have to put a streaming on my wordpress page
This is the code

The video by PC is seen on chrome and explorer but not on firefox
The error is:
Html5: Unsopported video format. Try installing Adobe Flash
Other browsers do not make mistakes …

Now it work
I enabled “Enable HLS.js (beta)”

The only problem with me is that the preroll link to sponsor does not work on the phones and that the preroll does not appear on the phones if I use youtube videos.
You told me that this would be fixed within a few weeks
Can you tell me how much you could miss?
Because so I can not use it.

We tested on Android 4.4.4 (both latest Chrome 60 and old Chrome 44), Android 7.0, iOS 8.1, iOS 10.2.1.

what mobile phone are you using? I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue on iPhone with iOS 10 nor Android 4.4.4 with Chrome 60.

I have a problem with windows 10.
I use videos with a DFP preroll. On chrome, only with windows 10, starts the preroll but then the video does not start automatically
On win7 instead starts automatically

Is there anything I can do?

Hello Mirco,

there shouldn’t be need for any changes, but if you notice any FV Player icon missing, just resave it’s settings. I had a brief look and haven’t noticed any issue though.

I tested that page on iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2 and iPad with iOS 11.3 and it worked fine. I also got an overlay video ad when I opened the page the first time.

Hi Martin,
in the last week wea are experiencing some trouble with the combination of WordPress + Youthube Video + DFP VAST preroll.

Not always but often preroll video doesn’t start and the video remain black for seconds aftger this You Tube video starts.
Other times preroll video doesn’t appair and the video start immediatly with youtube video. After experieng the troubles in our site, going around looking for the cause of the issue, we found same malfunctions in your demo page as follow:

We try with:

Mac Book Pro + Crhome version 67
iPhone X – iOS 11.4.1

Could you verify becuase we need absolutly a stabe solution for our businnes (that now is loosing Ads views) and we are thinking to evaluate other possible solutions.

Hello Marco,

I checked https://foliovision.com/player/demos/youtube-vast-autoplay using Chrome 67.0.3396.99 on OS X 10.12.6. I got the ad playing 10 out of 10 times. I tried to use different network speeds too.

The only time when there is an issue is when you come to the website the first time ever – Chrome doesn’t know they site, so it assigns zero MEI score to it and won’t permit audible autoplay. You can read more about that here: https://foliovision.com/2018/05/video-autoplay-issues

With FV Player 7 Beta (as used on foliovision.com) the autoplay still works, but the ad won’t play unfortunately. But fortunately Chrome remembers that you saw a video on that site, increases the MEI score and further videos autoplay with VAST just fine.

Could you please check if you are perhaps using some browser extension which might cause the issue?

I’m noticing the video won’t play on iOS 11.3 on that demo page though, so we will get that fixed. We will add it to our automated testing as well.

Hello Martin,
unfortunatly most of the users visits our home page one time so we need that ads start the first time olso! In Crome I found a lot of javascript error (after open the console). You can view the screen recording at this link: https://we.tl/EhME1DDTmW
In addition on iOS some time doesn’t work the play button, it seem as disabled.

Hello Marco,

thank you for the screencast. I see that you are using Ghostery and thus blocking the ads. So it’s normal that you don’t get any ads playing.

I’m using Ghostery in Google Chrome as well and the video autoplay on https://foliovision.com/player/demos/youtube-vast-autoplay works fine for me.

It’s tricky with autoplay and eve worse with YouTube. Perhaps in such cases we could make the working ad playback a priority and forget about autoplay.

I forgot to mention that there was a new FV Player Pro beta release (7.1.7.726.beta) which fixed the iOS issue I was mentioning. Are you getting that issue on https://foliovision.com/player/demos/youtube-vast-autoplay too?

thanks for your reply.

I tried just this morning on https://foliovision.com/player/demos/youtube-vast-autoplay and in 90% of cases it works fine but we found also somes issues:

1) on Firefox (after clearing cache) preroll doesn’t start (only black screen for 8-10 sec). (see screen recording)
2) on Chrome “VAST timeout of 8 error” happes (screen shot)

Here https://we.tl/cHVO0ViGMR can find screen recording and screen shot.

Could you check? Do you think there is some possible improvement on realibility of the preroll play you could make?

Hello Marco,

thank you for the screencast. It does capture the console log, but the “Log” entries in it is not enabled, so most of the messages remain hidden. Could you please check what these say when it doesn’t play the ad for you?

On my end I reloaded the page about 20 times with cache disabled and it always worked. I also tried to limit the network speed to “Good 3G” and it would still play.

But indeed FV Player VAST has some code in it which stops the ad loading if it takes too long.

We also worked on a feature which detects ad blockers and then removes the video asking you to disabled the ad blocker. Perhaps that could help with your issue as well.

From our side, in wp-admin plugin panel we have FV Player, FV Player Pro, FV Player VAST. But the update of FV Player doesn’t work!!. See video. Could you help us? Thanks

we will check these VAST autoplay issues again. Hopefully we can let the ads play without sound if browser seems to block the audible autoplay.

Regarding the upgrade issue – please try to click the right mouse button on that upgrade link and let it open in a new browser tab. I’m not sure what could cause an error like that, but this approach should let you do the upgrade.

Hello Marco,

please let us know what browser did you used in both cases. I was not able to find any issue on Chrome, Firefox. Please also try to open the stream from the first page directly (or just disable FV Player VAST for a bit) if the issue persists.

But here are the issues which we are resolving:

I’m working on the issues with https://foliovision.com/player/demos/youtube-vast-autoplay – fresh Safari 11.0.3 fails to play that one, I have to reload the page or come to the website again to get it to play.

When using iOS 11 I have to tap the video 3 times to get it to play too. We can bring that down to 2 taps, but a single tap won’t be possible as that’s how a YouTube video works – it’s an iframe and the VAST ad has to be served on top of it.

In fresh Google Chrome the VAST ad doesn’t play on video which is set to autoplay, it only plays when you unmute the video and then come to the page again. We should be able to let the ad play without sound.

the issue with fresh Safari 11.0.3 not playing the autoplay YouTube video and the extra click to get the YouTube video to play on iOS has been fixed – new FV Player Pro has been released (6.6.7 or 7.1.12.726 as you are on beta).

We still need to check how to play the VAST ad with no sound if audible autoplay is not permitted.

Is the ad not starting at all or is it behaving differently from the desktop version? Is it a pre-/mid-/post-roll ad?
