Hi Harold,
Sorry for the confusion, I said “I’ll get back to you when I’ll know the release date” but I didn’t mean the update but the feature itself, which we weren’t able to release yet.
Thanks,
EduardHi Paul,
Could you please send us a link to your website, so we could check it there?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: When lightboxes totally don't work…Hi Paul,
It might be possible that there is some kind of wrong symbol in your shortcode. Could you please check them in the Text/Source mode of your WP editor? Ideally, you could send us a screenshot of it. You can use this free online tool – https://snag.gy/.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
I got your screenshot via email. You could try to remove the splash=”” and splashend=”” parameters from the shortcode and see what behaviour you will get.
Thanks,
EduardHello Nima,
I tested this again on a Mac (macOS High Sierra, Safari 11) for several times and I couldn’t replicate the issue you have described. What OS and Safari version were you using?
Thanks,
EduardHi Daniel,
Thanks for your interest in this, we’ll try to move this in our list of priorities, but we are now working on a core update, so it will have to wait a week or two.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
It would be great if you could send a screencast of the issue you have in mind. I’m not sure what tool to use, though. We use CloudApp, but that’s a paid solution.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Start a video muted in the shortcode editor?Hello Alexandre and hummelmose,
We are actually working on a core upgrade to Flowplayer 7 engine (the open-source engine our player is built upon) and it will also bring support for silent autoplay of videos that will even work on some newer mobile devices (more info will be available when the feature is announced on our blog). If things go well, the update could be available in the middle of the next week.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Built-in Video Checker reporting video issueHi Michael,
I already replied in LiveChat, but just for the record, Pro support can be purchased here – Pro Support Incident ticket.
Thanks,
EduardHello Nima,
This is how I see the video on your website – http://screenshots.foliovision.com/2M3f0K331j0R. Could you please make a screenshot of how does the page look like when you deactivate the FV Player plugin?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Quick Insert ImageHi Tyler,
You are probably experiencing compatibility issues with PHP 7 built in newer versions of WordPress. We had to remove the whole SEO Images feature in the latest release of FolioPress WYSIWYG (2.6.16) because of it. This is a message you would get after update:
SEO Images removed! Due to PHP 7 compatibility issues and WordPress upgrades we are forced to remove our image management tool built on KFM. Please use Foliopress WYSIWYG 2.6.15 if you really need it.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: problem to play on Safari on MacHello,
We did some testing of your page loading on various devices, but the delay was never too long in Safari. You could try to turn off the Autoplay and test it again. You can also use this tool to get more detailed results – https://tools.pingdom.com/.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Built-in Video Checker reporting video issueHi Michael,
If you set HLS correctly with CORS and cross-domain license, you should be covered on all platforms. You even don’t have to worry about encoding issues with various h264 profiles that emerge in some browsers from time to time.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Can't play videos on iPhone ios 11.0.37 years ago in reply to: Try installing Adobe Flash7 years ago in reply to: problem to play on Safari on MacHello,
I checked the longer video in Safari 11 and again, no problems. If this is more a matter of network speed than the player itself failing in some way, maybe you should add quality switching options for the users with slower internet connection. Check our quality switching guide to learn how to do so – Setting Up Video Quality Switching.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: problem to play on Safari on MacHello,
I just tested in Safari 11 in High Sierra and still had no issues with playback. Do you get the “html5: Video not found” error every time you play the video, or just once in a while?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: problem to play on Safari on MacHello,
I checked your video with Safari 10.1 (macOS Sierra) and Safari 8 (OS X Yosemite) and the video played every time. Which version of OS X and Safari were you using?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Built-in Video Checker reporting video issueHi Michael,
The cross-domain policy is used for allowing browsers to play content in Flash engine. It is not such a problem if you are using HLS.js, but before this library was available, the only way to play HLS on desktop was available through Flash only.
We have a guide on HLS streaming that explains these terms and also will help you to fix this – Using HLS With FV Player.
Thanks,
EduardHello Michael,
We talked about labeling the videos and we decided to implement it. I’ll let you know when the feature is available.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Playlist editor non responsive in ChromeHi Deborah,
Thank you for your bug report. This issue was already fixed in the 6.3.4 update. Could you please check if you are running the latest version of FV Player?
Thanks,

Thank you for your feedback. It really looks like a relevant issue with some types of ad content. We’ll discuss this internally and let you know how this could be resolved.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Add download button to the playerHi Harold,
We have the download feature nearly finished, but our team is unfortunately overwhelmed with other development projects and bug fixing, so it’s not properly tested yet. I’ll get back to you when I’ll know the release date.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Try installing Adobe FlashHi Eric,
I tried the video and it worked without any issues. I tested it in Chrome/61.0.3163.100. What browser are you using?
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
Thanks for the clarification. I’ll discuss this with our web designer and let you know.

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with dash videosHi Sergio,
I’m still getting an MPEG-Dash stream in the example post you sent. I actually got this manifest https://foliovision.com/site/wp-content/cache/fv-player-mpd/1/manifest-193073123-1508244399.mpd.
I’m still not sure what the issue is here. You said that some of your users had some error reports. Do you know on which videos?
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
I’m sorry, I don’t know which black screen do you mean besides the logo, which is on a black background.
Thanks,

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: ContainerElement is invalidHi Andreas,
We just tested VAST 4 just to be sure that everything works and there is no problem with it. You can test it with this sample tag from IAB in our tester (or any other tester):
https://foliovision.com/html/InteractiveAdvertisingBureau-VAST_Samples-master-VAST-4.0-Samples-Universal_Ad_ID-test.xml
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Add a Buy Now button on the playerHi CCMT,
There is not a built-in feature for this, but you should be able to create such button with our overlay ads feature. It will require some level of web design knowledge, but it should be possible. Check our guide Pop-up Advertising Options with FV Player for tips on how to do it.
Thanks,
EduardHi Sultanem,
Yes, of course. You can just add the video URLs into shortcode editor (here’s a guide on how to do it – How to Create Playlists). The only requirement is that video has to be in a supported format, preferrably .mp4, or a streaming format like .m3u8 or .mpd.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: ContainerElement is invalidHello Andreas,
I’m not sure about the error but I tested your tag in our own VAST tester and various other testing platform and I always got empty ad container response. You should probably contact your ad network about this and make sure, you have a container that has items in it and they are not restricted from your area.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with dash videosHi Sergio,
Yes, quality switching should work with MPEG-Dash. I checked both of your videos again and got the Dash playback, so I’m not sure what is the issue here. You could turn on the manual quality switching again so I could test it once more.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
As I said, if you select the logo at the end, then it will show the logo at the beginning as well, because it is set as a splash screen and that is by default the image that is shown before the video starts.
Thanks,

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with ADS adsenseHi gaetanh,
Thanks for clarification. I hope that you will be able to resolve that soon.
Thanks,
EduardHi Michael,
Thank you very much for the appreciation! If you have some spare time, would you mind giving us a review on the FV Player plugin page on WP.org?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: html5: Video file not foundHi Peter,
The payment for the plugin is one-time and the license will be active for one year. After it expires you can still use the plugin, but without new updates. You can renew the license anytime, but it costs less before the expiration ($28) than after ($58).
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: html5: Video file not foundHi Peter,
Yes, CloudFront would definitely be a solution. You could use a different bucket, but that would mean that someone from some other part of the world might experience a similar issue if he has a slower connection. If you have a lot of international visitors, then using a CDN is probably the best.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
Ok, now I understand! The logo in front of the video is there because it’s the default splash image and it’s used to show up after the video finishes and before the page is redirected to the current homepage (as we discussed earlier).
I changed the splash image for the video in the shortcode, adding a grey background image. Now the loading of the video looks more smooth, but you won’t see the logo at the end, only the new grey splash image, so it’s either one or another since the splash image is the same for beginning and the end of the video. That means you either see the logo or the grey background.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with ADS adsenseHi gaetanh,
I apologize but I really don’t know how to help you more at this point without taking a look at your ad server settings and as I said, we have a policy of doing on-page support only as a paid service.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with dash videosHi Sergio,
We tested the two videos and actually got Dash streaming for both. Is it possible that you watched one of them before activating the MPEG-Dash option in plugin’s settings? The information could have been cached.
The thing about Vimeo is that it doesn’t offer Dash streaming for some older videos, so it would be unusual if it was the other way around.
Therefore, could you please check if you are still getting the same results? Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: html5: Video file not foundHello Peter,
I tested your video from with a VPN located in St. Petersburg and got the same issue, but only once and then the video played fine. Your bucket is located in Oregon, so it’s possible that the response from the server just took too long for the user in Moscow. You could ask him if this happens to him only occasionally or every time he wants to play a video on your website.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
I apologize, I don’t follow. Earlier you said: “What i mean is when you start you see logo picture in a few sec and than video start”. Now you said that you “can you do this so i dont see this logo before video start ?”. I’m not sure what should we do now.
As for the second part – yes, that’s a question for your page administrator.
Thanks,
EduardHi Lucas,
Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, adding this feature is not possible with our current playlist model. However, we are planning on upgrading the whole playlist code in backend and after the upgrade, it could be possible. I’ll add a note about your request and we could get back to it when it’s possible.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Wrong Lightbox SizeHi Amir,
Thanks for reporting this bug. The issue is on our side as the player was not able to detect the size of the images in .webp format. We will work on fixing this.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: trim hlskey stringHi Tommaso,
I tested this and the video worked even with the trailing space. Although I’m not sure if you meant space in the parameter itself in the shortcode, or after the encryption key (when you paste it in the shortcode editor for decrypting).
Thanks,
EduardHi Michael,
We are working on adding a field for setting mid-roll ads into the shortcode editor to make it easier to work with if this is what you mean.
Thanks,
EduardHi Michael,
Thank you for reporting this, we are already working on fixing the issue. I’ll let you know when it’s done.
Thanks,
EduardHi Michael,
I apologize, the issue was not in the player at all and everything works ok. It seems just that the plugin was temporarily deactivated.
As I said earlier, the issue was in the symbols in the shortcode. I switched to Text mode in your posts and saw that in https://www.afrolandtv.com/issue-page/, the code was
[fvplayer src="https://dh0es34san8r1.cloudfront.net/Shows/Trailers/This+is+it/This+is+it+Trailer+hls.m3u8" midroll="5,10,20,30" splash="https://www.afrolandtv.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Show-Poster.jpg"]
That is the correct version, but on https://www.afrolandtv.com/daughters-in-america/episode2/ it was
[fvplayer src="https://dh0es34san8r1.cloudfront.net/Shows/Daughters+In+America/EP2/EP2+hls.m3u8" midroll=“300,600” splash="https://www.afrolandtv.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/rsz_episode_2.jpg"]
I fixed it and the mid-roll now works fine on both the page and the post.
Thanks,
EduardHi Michael,
I checked the pages in your backend (we have access since the Pro support incident) and the issue seems to be caused by some wrong characters. However, you have updated to version 6.3.4 and we just realized that it breaks the support of Visual Composer, so we will have to fix that ASAP.
In the meanwhile, you can add your videos via the Classic Mode, or you can downgrade to the previous version by downloading it from here and doing a manual reinstall. That means disabling and deleting the current version in the Plugins section in your WP admin (no data will be lost) and then uploading the older one.
Thanks,
EduardHi Lucas,
You could theoretically use the WP filter
fv_player_item_html
. That can be used for changing the items in the div that contains the individual anchors of the playlist div. That however affects a lot of other things, so I wouldn’t recommend it without thorough testing and keeping an eye on the future versions of FV Player.A second option would be us implementing this somehow into the plugin, but that would require you to give us more details on what exactly would you need to do with this.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
The easiest way to add a logo in front of the video would probably be to edit the source video file and add it that way. Using the autoplay feature means that you won’t be able to see the splash image that is usually shown before the video starts playing. To launch the autoplay with a pre-set delay would require some custom programming.
As for the homepage – this seems like a question for your web admin as it’s more a matter of page structure than FV Player. You could have the video on http://linalauritsen.com/ and your current webpage content on http://linalauritsen.com/home, or something like that.
Thanks,
EduardHi Michael,
Thank you for reporting the issue. We are looking into it right now, as we were not able to replicate in on our test site even with the exact same settings you are using. I’ll let you know what could be done as soon as possible.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
I apologize but I’m not sure if I follow. Are you referring to the FV Flowplayer logo in the bottom left corner of the player? That is removed only in the Pro version, which also allows you to replace it with your own logo.
I’m also not sure what you mean with the homepage implementation. Would you like to have the same video on your homepage?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Import and Export Settings FeatureHi Amir,
We decided to add the Import/Export feature, although we now have other projects that are right before finalization, so they have priority. I’ll let you know when we start working on this.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
It’s done. The play icon won’t appear on pause, as you can see in the video on the page preview you have sent earlier. I also tested it on Android and iOS mobile devices and everything works ok.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
I have sent you an email from the address support@foliovision.com asking for the access credentials to your WP admin and FTP. Could you please check your spam folder?
You can also send the credentials right away to the address mentioned above and use https://revealit.me/ for securely sharing sensitive information.

What version of FV Player Pro are you using? The current versions of our plugins are 6.3.3 (FV Player) and 0.8.36 (FV Player Pro), so please check if your plugins are up to date.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Youtube Iframe API loading when not neededHi Amir,
This might be happening because you have restricted access to this video on Vimeo to all domains with the exception of yours but you might set the domain wrong. Could you please check that in the video settings on Vimeo?

Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player button no longer there?Hello DSwan34,

Could you please also tell us when did this issue start and which version of FV Player are you using?

Thanks again for your purchase. I contacted you via email from the Pro Support ticket.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player on FullscreenHello Hughhenry,
Thank you for clarification. FV Player, unfortunately, doesn’t support this at this moment. It would be theoretically possible to add this feature, but it would be hard to make it usable easily and on all platforms, so we are not planning to add it anytime soon.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: FV Player on Fullscreen7 years ago in reply to: Problem with ADS adsenseHi gaetanh,
I’m not sure what how can I help you more. It still seems to me that the problem is either in the ad dimensions or the ad container itself and sometimes it’s just empty. If you want, you can purchase a Pro Support Incident ticket and we can check the problem on your site directly.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
I’m not sure where you went wrong, but you can always purchase a Pro Support Incident ticket and we can do it for you on your site.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
This is a CSS code from our FAQ (Q. 26) that you can use for customizing the play icon:
#content .is-paused.flowplayer .fp-ui{background-image:url(none)} @media (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2){ #content .is-splash.flowplayer .fp-ui, #content .is-paused.flowplayer .fp-ui{background-image:url(none)} }
This is supposed to be used for adding custom icons, so if you replace “none” with URL of an image, it will be used as the play icon. To use this code, you will have to put in in your theme’s CSS template.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with ADS adsenseHi gaetanh,
It’s possible that the ad does not display on some mobile devices with smaller displays because of the dimensions of the ad itself. You would have to check what share of your traffic is from mobile devices.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
Do you mean the overlay play button (http://screenshots.foliovision.com/360X2M2n3N2i)?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Questions About Video SecurityHi Codefirst,
The best solution our player currently offers is an encrypted HLS stream delivered via Amazon CloudFront. As you can see for yourself in this demo, the video is very hard to download and even if someone manages to do that, it will require the decryption key even when viewed offline.
The stream itself is compatible with almost all devices and browsers and adjusts quality automatically. Here is our guide about HLS streaming, in case you wanted to learn more about this format – Using HLS With FV Player.
This setup requires FV Player Pro and Amazon S3, CloudFront and using the AWS Elastic Transcoder. Here is a guide on how to set it up – How to setup encrypted HLS stream with Amazon Elastic Transcoder.
If you want to know more about video security in general, you can read our article Protecting Video from Downloading.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
Thanks for the access credentials. I was able to check your video and here is what you can do to not show the black screen after the video ends.
Set a splash image for your video and then add the parameter
splashend="show"
to the video shortcode. That way the splash image will be shown immediately after the video ends and before the page is redirected. Thanks,
EduardHello Yamibo,
Our player should support URLs from every hosting if they are in a supported format (such as mp4, m3u8, mpd and such). Integrating at least one of these hostings on a level that could offer some kind of content protection is not a bad idea, though. We will definitely discuss this internally.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
Page previews can be seen only by logged in users. You can create an account for our support team and share the password securely via https://revealit.me/ (the message is encrypted and will be deleted after opening, so you can safely post it here in the forum). We do on-page support only as a paid service (Pro Support Incident ticket), but if it’s for viewing purposes only, then it’s ok.
Thanks,
EduardHi Tom,
I’m not able to see the preview of your video. Could you please send a link to a published page so I can take a look on what you mean?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Alternate video hostHi Scott,
We’ll discuss this within our team and I’ll let you know on how we decide to proceed with this.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with ADS adsenseHello gaetanh,
I checked your site and I see that the yellow ad boxes are also in the page content, not only in FV Player (screenshot). Is it possible that your Adsense account was not approved yet, or was disabled for some reason?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Add download button to the playerHello Harold,
We are actually working on this feature and we are planning to add it in the near future into the FV Player Pro beta version. It’s possible that it could be released next week. I’ll try to get back to you in this thread when it’s out.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Alternate video hostHi Scott,
At this moment you can use it for serving videos from public buckets. I created a demo for you so you can see for yourself – https://foliovision.com/player/demos/blackblaze-hosting.
If you are interested, we could do some research on how to integrate the authentification token to use the private buckets.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Problem with ADS adsenseHello gaetanh,
This might be caused either by incorrectly set ad dimensions in Google Adsense settings, (they should be the same as the dimensions you enter into FV Player settings) or maybe the ad container is empty. Or maybe it’s some other issue, so it would be best if you could send us a link to your website where the problem appears.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Import and Export Settings FeatureHello Amir,
Interesting thought. We’ll definitely discuss it internally and let you know.
Thanks,
EduardHi Kyle,
Thanks for the screenshots, but the video doesn’t seem to be on the page you sent anymore. Could you please send another link?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: VAST ads not showing multiple ads on playerHello Pankaj,
You should set a default expiration time and turn on the Force default expiration time option in Settings > FV Player Pro > Hosting tab > Amazon S3 Protected Content. Read more about how to set S3 with a caching plugin in step 3 of this guide – Serving Private Videos with Amazon S3.
FV Player Pro also lets you enable Ajax for Amazon S3, you should be seeing it in the settings. That way the expiration time can be kept low.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Pro Version Not RegisteringHi George,
That’s great! Let us know if you have any other questions about FV Player.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Start a video muted in the shortcode editor?Hello Alexandre,
Currently, you can only set the default volume in Settings > FV Player > Setup tab > Sitewide FV Player Defaults, there is no shortcode parameter for this at this moment.
This will apply to all videos on your website, but if a user changes the volume, his new setting will be stored in his browser and will be the new default for him.
That also means that if you have used the volume adjustment before yourself, you will be seeing your latest setting when you open videos on your website, no matter what value you set for the default volume settings. Therefore you should be using your browser’s Incognito/Private mode, so you can see how this will appear for the new users.
Thanks,
EduardHi Bradley,
We have been discussing this in the support ticket you opened, but you can share how you have managed to fix the issue if you have some spare time.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: VAST Ads Mid-roll IssuesHi Mike,
Sorry, I haven’t noticed that question. It seems that you are using a skippable ad, and skippable ad format is unfortunately not supported on iOS. I would suggest adding a second tag with a non-skippable ad, that can be loaded on iOS without problems.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Disable Right Click on VideosHello Michael,
We are actually preparing an update, that will allow you to choose from two options:
- allow all the YouTube’s functions and clicks (ads, right-click menu, link to the video from the YT logo)
- disable all the functions
Check our changelog where we will announce the new settings, when they are released.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Disable Right Click on VideosHello Michael,
The right click menu is a part of the YouTube API, which our player is using to serve videos from YouTube and can’t be turned off, since linking to YouTube website from embedded videos is in YouTube’s Terms of Service.
It probably could be prevented by some kind of CSS overlay, but that would be a violation of the ToS and also would prevent some functions, such as using the panoramatic videos.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: VAST Ads Mid-roll IssuesHi Mike,
This issue is being resolved in this thread – https://foliovision.com/support/fv-player-vast/troubleshooting/vast-ads-not-showing-multiple-ads-on-player
Thanks,

You are right, the player loads only the first ad. We’ll work on this and let you know as soon as it’s fixed.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Interactive Transcript with Chapters on iPadHello Peter,
It looks like the issue with the missing chapters happens when you open your website as HTTP, instead of HTTPS. You should add a redirection for all the http:// links.
However, we encountered some buffering issues on iOS 10 while testing this. Could you please paste a screenshot of the Video Checker‘s report on of this video?
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: Blog description in googleHello Jacek,
Unfortunately, Google uses the actual search keyword to adjust the article snippet as it sees fit to show the users what they are looking for. It certainly doesn’t use meta description all the time.
On the other hand, using meta description is still a good practice for SEO and you certainly shouldn’t abandon this practice.
Thanks,
Eduard7 years ago in reply to: html5: Video file not foundHi Steve,
Thank you for describing this here. As for the Video Warning, what did the video checker say about the video? Could you post a screenshot here?
