Disable Right Click on Videos

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Disable Right Click on Videos

  • Michael M. 7 years, 7 months ago

    Hello!

I have youtube videos on my site that I do not want visitors to easily be able to copy the youtube link for. When a video is right clicked while it is playing a menu appears that allows users to copy the video url. Is there a way to disable this menu from showing?

    Thanks!

    Hello Michael,

The right click menu is a part of the YouTube API, which our player is using to serve videos from YouTube and can’t be turned off, since linking to YouTube website from embedded videos is in YouTube’s Terms of Service.

It probably could be prevented by some kind of CSS overlay, but that would be a violation of the ToS and also would prevent some functions, such as using the panoramatic videos.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello Michael,

We are actually preparing an update, that will allow you to choose from two options:

    • allow all the YouTube’s functions and clicks (ads, right-click menu, link to the video from the YT logo)
    • disable all the functions

Check our changelog where we will announce the new settings, when they are released.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello Mitali,

disabling this is against YouTube’s TOS and could lead to possible repercussions. If you are willing to go ahead with ti anyway, you can contact us at support@foliovision.com

    Thanks,
    Maria
