you posted the email address of your commenter to us. I checked it on our site and it caches properly.

You said it’s also visible in the “Cache information” section of the plugin settings screen. If you know PHP, you can check if it’s present in the $gravatars array in FV_Gravatar_Cache::GetAvatar(): https://github.com/foliovision/fv-gravatar-cache/blob/master/fv-gravatar-cache.php#L182

Perhaps there is some limit in your object cache. Are you using APC or memcached? Please ask your server support if you are not sure.

Does it find the player at all?

Only other thing that comes to mind it trying to disable plugins one by one until this works, then we can check again what conflict with that plugin could be the cause for this.

if the maximum number of wrappers would be reached there would be a different message – “The maximum number of VAST wrappers ({number}) has been reached.”

However I’m getting a different error on your website, I just get “An invalid exception was thrown.” in fv-player-vast-min.js.

You site also appers to be full of JavaScript errors originating in http://cdn.ravenjs.com/3.6.0/raven.js, although it’s not likely related. The site appears to be full of ads as well.

Do you have any special page which doesn’t have all of the extra ads on the page with just FV Player VAST on it?

I’m surprised to hear you are having issues with Vimeo like this. The CDN speed is actually better than Amazon CloudFront. On top of that Amazon S3 is hard to manage.

I checked http://deluxevoyages.com/blog/videos-3/silversea-cruises-videos/ and it uses Twenty Ten which is what I called the default WP template. It’s a slightly older one though.

I see that the player is not found when using the iframe code.

This could be caused by some plugin as well. What other plugins are you using?

to conslude this thread – we asked you to use our video checker, fixed how it checks the paths for RTMP streams (the error you were getting for //cdn.foliovision.com/SampleVideo.mp4) and you figured out you didn’t had the Flash installed for Opera and IE.

the avatar size on your site appears to be 108 pixels. Is that matched in Settings -> FV Gravatar Cache -> Gravatar size?

What does the “Cache information” say on that page?

Does the “Cache directory” displayed on that page exist?

Is the “Daily cron” option checked?

You can also enable “Debug mode” and then check what appears in the log file.

in general we don’t recommend using JetPack because of its WordPress.com integration – unless that’s what you really need. There are good alternatives for most of its functions which don’t tie you down like that.

Since you are our pro user I checked your site and I can see the error:

tiled-gallery.js?x74069:163 Uncaught ReferenceError: wp is not defined(…)

Does it appear when you remove FV Player from that post and only keep the gallery? If so, then it’s Jetpack’s fault. Otherwise it must be some strange conflict.

In that case you can try to modify that //cdn.foliovision.com/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery/tiled-gallery.js file and comment out the block at line 163. If you are experienced in JavaScript, it won’t be a problem, just remember to clear any cache – your browser, CDN and so on.

sorry about the delay. I don’t think you should be using Handbrake for the various quality streams. I only know details of how HLS works in AWS Elastic Transcoder and in there you put up the big master video file in high quality and then you setup the pipeline in which you define what qualities should be in the HLS.

You can see it in https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/securing-your-video/hls-stream -> “Once the pipeline is properly set up, create your transcoding job.”

However AWS is too complex and we are looking for some easier to use HLS transcoder.

Are you still using Scale Engine? Don’t they have any guidelines for HLS stream with multiple qualities.

The way you use it with multiple HLS streams works with quality switching, but it’s only detected when the playback starts – at least that’s what I was able to figure out. But if you switch to full screen for example, you won’t get the higher quality and it won’t detect change in network connection speed.

AMP is really a moving target. We did something to make sure FV Player videos still play when using AMP. It mean the proper script has to be included and now AMP validator is not liking that:

The tag ‘script’ is disallowed except in specific forms. CUSTOM_JAVASCRIPT_DISALLOWED

I can’t find any page from Google which would explain this. Are you following some site validation process which requires that the AMP on your site is fully validated before really enabling it for Google?

I found some AMP specs here: https://www.ampproject.org/docs/reference/components In the “Audio & Video” part it almost looks like they are trying to only support some video players, such as Vimeo, YouTube and JW Player.

we just released FV Player Pro 0.7.32 which fixes this behavior, you should be seeing that update alteday.

However it will also require a fix in the base (free) FV Player plugin. Could you please help us with the testing?

To do that just install FV Player from this ZIP file: https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/fix-video-ads-lightbox.zip You need to just remove the existing version of FV Player, no settings or videos will be lost an then install it from that ZIP file.

With that version the video ads should start working in lightbox automatically. Could you please let us know if it works for you?

the speed control works for iPad when playing Vimeo videos as then it plays a HLS stream.

The support is just missing in the YouTube API. Or perhaps your cousin has a newer iPad. Could you please check that? We have iPad with iOS 5.1.1, 7.1 and 8.1.2.

at one point we disabled the custom interface for YouTube videos on Android below version 4.4 and somehow that affected iPad as well.

I now excluded iPad from this. Could you please check if it works well for you on https://foliovision.com/player/demos/user-ab-loop -> YouTube video with VTT chapters enabled for AB looping? If so, then we can release this new fixed version.

Unfortuntely the speed buttons won’t work on iPad. I don’t see it even on YouTube.com when using iPad.

And I can see the same issue! However I’m not seeing anything wrong in the browser developer tools. It happens both with Chrome (close to what you had – Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 6.0.1; SM-G930F Build/MMB29K) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.91 Mobile Safari/537.36) and the built-in browser (which is even closer to your user agent – Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 6.0.1; SAMSUNG SM-G930F Build/MMB29K) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) SamsungBrowser/4.0 Chrome/44.0.2403.133 Mobile Safari/537.36).

I can also see it won’t play if opened directly (I put the video URL into the browser location bar directly).

the Gravity Forms Partial Entries addon calls jQuery.clone() on the form wrapper, which also contains the player if you insert it using the HTML block. That makes the Flowplayer play the video again on background.

I’m currently writing about this issue to core Flowplayer team.

we setup our own multi-step form with Gravity Forms and the issue appears to be triggered by the Partial Entries addon for it.

The Flash preference which I recommended as a quick fix helps, so cloud you please disable “Settings -> FV Player -> Integrations/Compatibility -> Prefer Flash player by default” again, then see if the issue is still occurring and then disable the Gravity Forms Partial Entries and see if that helps?

I checked your TV site and you are using FV Player 6.0.4.21 on it, that is from 6.0.4 branch. Once you upgrade it to the latest version which is of the 6.0.5, you should be prompted to update the license key or activate automated key updates – that way it’s handled automatically.

Unfortunately core Flowplayer team requires that the license key changes.

So that could be responsible for the logo issue.

we are terribly sorry about the issue, we released FV Player 0.7.27 which fixes the issue.

If you can’t get to your WordPress site at all, then you have to connect to your site using FTP (or use file manager on your hosting control panel) and delete the wp-content/plugins/fv-player-pro directory (it might be stored as public_html/wp-content/plugins/fv-player-pro).

We are working on automated testing for our plugin code and functions, but now it’s clear we need to prioritize that work.

If our MP4 videos work and yours doesn’t then the issue might be in the hosting or encoding.

As a first step let’s check for hosting issues first. I downloaded your video to our site. Please try to insert the video with URL like https://foliovision.com/videos/Re….mp4 (this thread is private, but I removed the sensitive part of the URL, you will know what to put there) and lets see if it will play.

I was checking the video encoding already and I haven’t noticed anything strange.

FV Player Pro 0.7.26 gives you tracking of “Video Ad Click” and “Video Ad Skip”. The overall playback stats of the ads can be obtained from the “Video start” and “Video complete” events as “Video Ad: {ad name}”.

thank you for the video and the bug report! We had a look and this all looks pretty complex. It appears you are using a multi-step Gravity Forms form with FV Player inside of it.

It’s difficult for us to tell if the issue is related to use of Gravity Foms directly, or it’s just your theme or some plugin. Could you please post some Vimeo video to some clean page which you create on your WordPress site? You can set the page to be password protected and send the password to us here, we are keeping this thread private.

Also, as a quick fix you can try to enable “Settings -> FV Player -> Integrations/Compatibility -> Prefer Flash player by default”, it seems this doesn’t affect browsers which use Flash for MP4.

The problem with this is that not every RSS feed reader will support iframe. We need to figure out if it’s really a safe default.

I think proper solution would be to ask your server support to fix this on the server side. Alternatively we could add a plugin option to skip the SSL checks when communicating with out server. There is no sensitive information send, no passwords nor user details, but it’s still not a great idea.

the custom start/end time is a FV Player Pro feature which allows you limit what portion of the video can be viewed, but it has some limitations.

For a pay per view system it would be better is the video length would show unaffected – giving the viewer an impression he’s about to see the full video and then ask for payment at a given time.

However serving the full length videos for previews is something we can’t recommend. Protecting the videos against hotlinking with S3 and CloudFront is not enough. You should be serving just a preview of the full length video which you can create in your favorite video editing software.
