Schema.org markup integration

Foliovision › Forums › FV Simpler SEO › Requests and Feedback › Schema.org markup integration

  • kuku 9 years, 12 months ago

First of all let me thank you for making FV Simpler SEO!

I am hardly missing anything — except the possibility to determine a picture or the logo of our foundation to become part of the search-engine’s preview.

How do you experts think about integrating some schema-properties?

    Or how would you advise?

    Cheers, Matt

    Hello kuku,

thank you for your interest in our plugin!

What exact schema.org markup would you like to use? We support Google authorship, but Google stopped showing that in search results.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
I was not aware of your reply until today.

The only feature that I really miss is, to determine a picture, which is displayed together with the written description — if not in a search engine, at least in WhatsApp or Telegram messenger.

    Thank you!

Addendum: using the rudimentary “featured picture” function in WordPress makes a picture appear e.g. in Telegram indeed. I would prefer though, to set the picture in FV…

    Hello kuku,

perhaps it works thanks to OG tags.

Why would you like to use FV Simpler SEO to set the picture when the Featured Image gets the job done?

    Thanks,
    Martin

Dear Martin, thanks for your swift reply!

    What are “OG tags”?

The ‘Featured Image’ gives me little design-control over the layout. Also this WP-feature won’t accept SVGs I’d like to use different graphics rather than a content picture. Of course better than nothing.

    Hello kuku,

OG is Open Graph by Facebook.

I’ll check your feature request with our team.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello kuku,

we could add the image field you are asking for, but we are unsure if the social services would pick it up if the image wouldn’t be also part of the actual site content.

    Thanks,
    Martin
