I did a search of the forums and couldn’t find a solution. I’ve had a few clients complain that there getting error “Fv-html5 file not found” All of the clients complaining all have one thing in common. They are trying to watch with a Samsung Galaxy s7. i went out and bought the phone and sure enough getting the same issue. I’ve tried every browser I can think of android and iOS and they all work fine. … Except with the Samsung Galaxy s7. Any ideas?

    Hi flywithmike,

Could you please send us the link to the video so we can check the issue ourselves? The issue might be related to the video type you are using.

Do you have the same issue on https://foliovision.com with the homepage video?

    Thank you,
    Eduard

I just tried the video on foliovision.com and it worked. We’re uploading the video via WordPress in MP4 format. Here is the link. http://my-site.com/?page_id=743

If this thread is published can you remove my video link since it’s a clients wedding video. Thank you so much.

    Hello flywithmike,

could you please check if it plays in Google Chrome when you install it to your Samsung Galaxy S7? The built-in browser in it had all kinds of issues in Android 4.x. What Android version do you have?

We are keeping this thread private for now.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Tried a different Galaxy s7 same firmware and played okay with chrome. But not the other. But both get the same error with the standard browser.

I tried the videos with the built in browser and they work fine. Here is user agent info.

    Hello flywithmike,

thank you for the follow up!

If our MP4 videos work and yours doesn’t then the issue might be in the hosting or encoding.

As a first step let’s check for hosting issues first. I downloaded your video to our site. Please try to insert the video with URL like https://foliovision.com/videos/Re….mp4 (this thread is private, but I removed the sensitive part of the URL, you will know what to put there) and lets see if it will play.

I was checking the video encoding already and I haven’t noticed anything strange.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Okay.. I tried watching the video hosted via your server and it plays okay on the samsung galaxy s7….. So I’m guessing it has to do with my hosting.. So strange as this is the only mobile device affected.. Not sure where to go from here.

I’ve tried with a different WordPress theme.. Still getting the same issue.. if it helps..

    Hello CRJPilot,

this is a very weird issue indeed.

Another troubleshooting step would be to try to insert your video using a standard WordPress [video] shortcode like described here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Video_Shortcode

Does it play on Samsung Galaxy S7 then?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello CRJPilot,

I’m testing with Samsung Galaxy S7 now.

And I can see the same issue! However I’m not seeing anything wrong in the browser developer tools. It happens both with Chrome (close to what you had – Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 6.0.1; SM-G930F Build/MMB29K) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.91 Mobile Safari/537.36) and the built-in browser (which is even closer to your user agent – Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 6.0.1; SAMSUNG SM-G930F Build/MMB29K) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) SamsungBrowser/4.0 Chrome/44.0.2403.133 Mobile Safari/537.36).

I can also see it won’t play if opened directly (I put the video URL into the browser location bar directly).

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello CRJPilot,

I should add that it plays when I load if from foliovision.com. There must be some bug in the Samsung phone which occurs with your host.

    Thanks,
    Martin

I’ve tried uploading the video with the word press short code.. the Video plays fine outside of the FV player with just wordpress alone. I’ll do some more digging

    Hello CRJPilot,

could you please send over the URL where we can see that? It wasn’t working for me when I did my test.

    Thanks,
    Martin
