Validating FV Player with AMP from Google – Errors

    Hello,
I recently began to venture into the unknown with google AMP, and I have come a long way from where I began with the journey into the unknown but I still am getting some errors regarding the instant pages.
You can see them here: https://validator.ampproject.org/#url=https%3A%2F%2Ffreedomfightertimes.com%2Fpodcast%2Fchinas-yuncheng-salt-lake-dead-sea-turned-blood-red%2Famp

Not all errors are attributed to your plugin only some – I am also trying to get the other plugin authors to update their code as well.
I truly thank you all for your help in this matter, because I am utterly clueless when it comes to dealing with the atrocities of google validation…

No seriously, is FV player compatible with the amp plugin from automaticc? If not, is there a way to make it valid? Or what do you suggest?

Thank you all for your help,
    Nate

    Hello Nathan,

AMP is really a moving target. We did something to make sure FV Player videos still play when using AMP. It mean the proper script has to be included and now AMP validator is not liking that:

The tag ‘script’ is disallowed except in specific forms. CUSTOM_JAVASCRIPT_DISALLOWED

I can’t find any page from Google which would explain this. Are you following some site validation process which requires that the AMP on your site is fully validated before really enabling it for Google?

I found some AMP specs here: https://www.ampproject.org/docs/reference/components In the “Audio & Video” part it almost looks like they are trying to only support some video players, such as Vimeo, YouTube and JW Player.

    Thanks,
    Martin

No – I am following no site at all, I am completely shooting in the dark with this one.
I have no idea of the requirements or anything of that nature – where that came from is forums stating that they had validation errors, and basically it was showing up in their google webmaster – which in the google webmaster there is a “nefarious” warning that if there are errors, your pages might not display correctly, and or google wouldn’t use them.
See to me its BS that they are validating some scripts but not others, seems “censorshipy”
I did notice that the videos were playing which is really all that matters to me, but because of google I thought I might just ask and see if you guys were working on it at all, because I wanted to offer it to our users.

    Hello Nathan,

Looks like using is a workable solution at this point – here are the details https://www.ampproject.org/docs/guides/iframes

According to their guide: “Iframes are especially useful in AMP to display content not supported in the main page context, such as content requiring user-authored JavaScript.”

We are going to keep looking into this.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello Nate,

the iframe won’t be so easy, so starting from FV Player 6.0.5.9 for these AMP pages we just insert bare video tags where possible and otherwise just show the video splash screen and information that there is a video in that post with a link to the post.

    Thanks,
    Martin
