Pre-Roll Broke My Video.

    FV PRO video player was working just fine, until I was exploring PRE-ROLL videos, and then it quite literally broke the video being played.

    When I added a pre-roll video to the set as a default in the preferences, the primary video on any page (being called from cloudfront), would be ‘wiped’ off the page – no player, no splash screen, nothing. So I figured that the PRE-ROLL (BETA) was still that…in beta, and it’s not ready yet. I clearly hit a but. So I removed the ad from the preferences, saved the settings and the player on any page where there was a video showed up again.

    You would think all would be fine at that point. So did I, until I went to PLAY a video. Nothing. It’s like the connection just drops … poof. Mind you until added (and then removed) PRE-ROLLing everything was working just fine. After that …. nope!

    Any suggestions would be helpful!

    out the primary video and there is no pre-roll.

    If I remove the pre-roll, the primary video shows up again.

    Basically the disappears when I add a pre-roll.

    Hello Miles,

    unfortunately your links won’t open, it says “Page not found”. What kind of video did you enter as the preroll ad? What kind of browser are you using?

    Sorry, I dropped the ball. I’m getting close to launch.

    Type of Browser, Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. I tested all 3 before I emailed you folks just to be on the safe side that it wasn’t a browser or caching issue. It’s not.
    Type of video, a youtube video. however, I also tried a cloudfront video as well.
    As a side note, I also disabled all the other plugins I’m running to see if it was a plugin conflict. Nope. It’s not, it’s your plugin.

    Now there’s one thing that I haven’t tried and to be honest with you I can’t because I’m close to launch, and that’s a theme change. It may be the theme that I’m using, something in there may be setting off your plugin….

    No matter, I turn on pre-roll, and all the video on the site disappears. Poof.

    You don’t have to switch your theme. You can use the theme preview function and then browse to the post where you have your broken video using the site navigation or search.

    I tried your suggestion of adding the preroll, then switching themes through the appearance selector…hey! cool idea, thanks.

    Ummmm…same problem. It quite literally breaks the page, each and every time.

    So now that it’s not the theme, and with all the other plugins turned off – It’s your plugin.

    Here’s screencap I made of the issue…so that we’re absolutely clear what’s going on:

    I see, you are using lightbox with it. I tried that now and I can see there is an issue, so I’m looking into it.

    Hello Miles,

    unfortunately this is tricky and I’m leaving for a holiday tomorrow.

    So as a quick fix in FV Player Pro 0.7.25 we set it to skip the video ads for lightboxed videos.

    Hello Miles,

    we just released FV Player Pro 0.7.32 which fixes this behavior, you should be seeing that update alteday.

    However it will also require a fix in the base (free) FV Player plugin. Could you please help us with the testing?

    To do that just install FV Player from this ZIP file: https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/fix-video-ads-lightbox.zip You need to just remove the existing version of FV Player, no settings or videos will be lost an then install it from that ZIP file.

    With that version the video ads should start working in lightbox automatically. Could you please let us know if it works for you?
