    Hi we are using your plugin for a client of ours.
    We have had some problem trying to configure DFP, so we contacted the video ad supplier to figure out what is wrong.
    The supplier technician said that our solution “only support a wrapper depth of 3” and that is not enough to fully use their platform, is that correct?
    There is a workaround or a solution to this problem?
    Do you have some indepth guide to fully configure DFP as Fallback for the main supplier?

    Hello Alessandro,

    FV Player VAST offers waterfall loading of the ads, so that if the first one fails it continues with the next one. You can check that in step 6 here: https://foliovision.com/player/vast/how-to-use-vast

    Could you please ask your support technician for the ad unit which shows us that we only support a limited wrapper depth? There are different parameters to adjust and I want to make sure we adjust the right one if it’s really required.

    Hi Martin,
    can i have your email, so i can send you the debug log and try to understand what’s going on?
    I’ve noticed that we can’t use html5 ad, they always fall back to flash.
    I will try to contact the technician of the advertiser, but I don’t really know if they can limit the VAST wrapper depth.

    Hi Martin,
    about your previous response (https://foliovision.com/support/fv-player-vast/troubleshooting/vast-wrapper-depth/#post-47237) in fact we are using HTML5 VAST feed from our supplier and in fallback the flash VAST of the same supplier. But as you can see in the log we only show the Flash ads.

    Please note, the adv supplier technician said to us that to use all of their ads catalog we need at least a wrapper depth of 5. In fact actually we are using only their direct advertise catalog. No third party announce. This is a big limit for us as you can immagine.

    As far as I can see and understand we don’t use at all HTML5 advertise due to the wrapper depth question.
    This in fact limit also our try to make use of DFP to manage the display of future concurrent of our actual supplier for video ads.
    The question is there is a way to manage this situation with FV VAST Player?

    Hello Alessandro,

    if the maximum number of wrappers would be reached there would be a different message – “The maximum number of VAST wrappers ({number}) has been reached.”

    However I’m getting a different error on your website, I just get “An invalid exception was thrown.” in fv-player-vast-min.js.

    You site also appers to be full of JavaScript errors originating in http://cdn.ravenjs.com/3.6.0/raven.js, although it’s not likely related. The site appears to be full of ads as well.

    Do you have any special page which doesn’t have all of the extra ads on the page with just FV Player VAST on it?

    Hi Martin,
    the error you point out
    “The maximum number of VAST wrappers ({number}) has been reached.”
    is different from this one we get
    FV VAST Ad error: AdError 303: No Ads VAST response after one or more Wrappers

    So what does the last error means?

    We are contatting our client to let us create a page without ads so you can test the plugin.

    it means the wrappers are processes properly, but no ads were found in any of them.

    Hi Martin,
    i am hijacking this thread – we ran into the problem with max wrappers. Is it possible to set it higher than 4?
    We get: FV VAST Ad error: AdError 302: The maximum number of VAST wrappers (4) has been reached.

    Hello Thorsten,

    it would be possible to tweak this, but keeping the limit reasonable is what protects your viewers from endless ad loading in some cases. I’ve seen setup with some many VAST ads that it took half minute for the player to finally give up and just play the video.

    How much time do you wait before you get that error when playing a video? Please let us know.

    Hi Martin,

    thanks for your answer and you are completly right, but to be honest, reality demands more depth. On the specific case we would need at lest 5 Wrappers to deliver the media.

    Would it be a option to make the depth configurable via the Adminpanel?

    we released FV Player VAST in which the limit has been increased to 5. Please let us know how it goes.
