That documentation is for Flowplayer 3. FV Player is using Flowplayer 6 and we are working on upgrading to Flowplayer 7. Fortunately the APIs there are almost identical.
You can get rid of the prev/next arrows using CSS. The selectors are #fv_player_pro_boxCurrent, #fv_player_pro_boxPrevious, #fv_player_pro_boxNext.
I wouldn’t recommend to try to swap out the video file source. Also $(“#player-container a”).flowplayer(); would only work if #player-container contains a video tag, but I’m not sure, it’s not how FV Player works anymore. I’m not sure what $f is, it must be something which you define.

on your screenshot there is only a single video and nothing in the playlist.
Also in the free FV Player you can’t use YouTube videos in a playlist. Although we talked in our team about improving this aspect of our free plugin, it wouldn’t likely let you use featured such as redirect.
technically it’s possible, you should output your title in the “fv_flowplayer_html” filter with priority of 10.
Perhaps it would be better though to output your video above your title in your theme by extracting the shortcode from get_the_content() and doing do_shortcode() on it there, storing the transcript part for later use in post body.
In both cases you should watch the plugin changelog carefully to see when there are some changes regarding the player or transcript HTML.
do you mean the preview in the shortcode editor? Or actual preview of the page created by WordPress? What if you save the post as draft?
What playlist style do you have confirured in Settings -> FV Player -> Sitewide FV Player Defaults -> Playlist style? What exact [fvplayer…] shortcode are you using?
I see what you are trying to do. You provide the video URL and expect FV Player JS to be able to build the lightbox from just that. That would be so nice, but unfortunately there is a fair bit of HTML involed and you would have to get it from somewhere. There is the “button” which brings up the lightbox and then the player code which shows up in the lightbox. And plus it all would have to keep beigh hooked in with all the events.
My suggestion would be to preload all the players with [fvplayer] shortcodes on that page and then just click them with JS as user picks these options in dropdowns – you would have to connect these two together with some IDs.
This is bit on an issue, as the URL signature can’t work with a HLS stream. As you noticed the m3u8 file is a list of the segments which can’t have the URL signature dynamically appended.
We could theoretically tweak it in our video engine, but devices such as iPhone, iPad or Android which play HLS streams natively wouldn’t support that.
Another sort of a solution would be to use a cookie signature rather than URL, but not all mobile devices pass on cookies to the HLS requests. Perhaps iOS 10 does?
We recommend using encrypted HLS streams which is far better protection than a URL signature.
my conclusion was that Amazon Drive is blocking your domain, so you can try contacting them, but I’m not sure how successfuly you will be as they are probably not interested in people hosting videos on it. It might work well for a small volume of videos.
you are able to use FV Player Pro on your testing server, you just won’t be getting updates for it, so please make sure you check that before going live.

It seems the issue is with how it’s cached on Amazon end. For example on your anime website it keeps failing no matter if it’s cached or not. It actually gets the same MP4 link as my test site gets. And while that link plays on my site, it won’t play on your – as I found because of the referrer information.
I was able to play the same videos on my test site or Foliovision.com.
I came to conclusion that Amazon Drive is actively blocking your domain. I was playing with the HTTP headers and I could see that changing the domain in the Referer header to something else fixes the problem.
However this header is controled by the web browser directly and we cannot adjust it.
it is what it is – if your site is using https:// the videos on it must use https:// as well, otherwise there might be issues. Browser do so to make sure you connection stays secure.
It seems iOS and Android 4 doesn’t obey these restrictions though. But majority of users will still have issues.
Your Amazon S3 bucket has two addresses, that’s right but only the one which is on s3.amazonaws.com domain has a correct SSL certificate. For plrvideodirect.com.s3.amazonaws.com the SSL certificate doesn’t pass the check.

could you please send the link to the page where we can see the issue? Is there jQuery library getting loaded? Do you see any element with “flowplayer” as the class?
It’s also strange that it was showing as “Video OK” while it was not playing for you. Do you still have that poorly encode video somewhere so that we can improve our check?
I tried to use the Amazon Drive link on my test site and the video played for me.
Perhaps we are caching the Amazon Drive video URL for too long. Could you please reinstall FV Player Pro from a fresh ZIP file which you download at https://foliovision.com/my-licenses ? You will have to deactivate and delete the current FV Player Pro plugin you are using – no worries, no settings and no videos will be lost.
FV Player Pro 0.8.30 has been released. In its Beta version the code for fallback from HLS to MP4 in case of load failure has been added to fix this issue.
You can also test this on https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/how-to-use-vimeo -> “City of Bratislava”. If you see the quality switching buttons over the video when playing it on iOS device you will know that you are getting MP4 video instead of HLS – HLS has automated quality control.
I was checking the original Vimeo player and found it’s doing the same – sometimes it played HLS on our iPad, sometimes it played MP4 and I could see the same error on console.
However your video still won’t work on iPad. I think we will have to provide fallback to MP4 if the HLS fails for iPad. We do the same for desktop computers when using MPEG-DASH – it falls back to MP4 in case of issues.
could you please try to enable the “Force iframe Embedding” option in Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Hosting -> Vimeo (Pro) for a moment and see if it will play then?
I tried to play the Vimeo HLS stream directly and it won’t play either. So I wonder if it’s a problem with my iPad or if the HLS stream on that video is somehow broken and how does the original Vimeo player manage to play it.
could you please let us know what iOS version are you using on your iPad?
I tried with iOS 9.3 and it worked for me. However I did notice issues when using iOS 10.3. At the same time I didn’t notice issues on foliovision.com with iOS 10.3. Could you please check that as well? You can try the homepage video.
I think all of these issues will be fixed once FV Player 7 is out (with core Flowplayer 7), so please check again once it’s released. It will take us a couple of weeks, but I see we must prioritize this.
I was able to get Chrome 60.0.3112.107 now. I’m not sure why I wasn’t getting that update yesterday (I tried 4 mobile phones). So now I can see the issue.
We released FV Player 6.2.7 which takes care of hiding that download button.
Chrome 60 changed something about the fullscreen mode. I checked core Flowplayer 7 and it does handle it properly, so once we upgrade FV Player to it, you will be getting the full-featured FV Player fullscreen mode.
To make the videos much harder to download we are also preparing a special option for Vimeo videos. It will force use of MPEG-DASH and HLS streams only. While it will then stop playing in some old browsers (we will put in a coherent error message for these ) it will make your videos much more protected agains all sorts of video downloading tools.
I think that by doing that you just basically supressed the error in logs, but some users might still have difficulties with playback of your videos. I would check the server load, available bandwidth and number of NginX worker threads.
so far we are not sure why you would get the browser built-in fullscreen mode instead of FV Player. It works for us on Android 4.4.4, Android 6, Android 7 and Android 7.1. Could you please let us know what exact Google Chrome version you are using?
Could you please also check if you get the same behavior on these videos?
I see you use the old Flowplayer 3. I would suggest you upgrade to a HTML5 compatible video and latest FV Player.
I see you are using f4m for streaming, but you also have HLS streams available. In new FV Player you can play HLS streams even on desktop computers without Flash – it just must be a modern browser. it could mean that your server has reached its capacity and is not able to serve these videos on time – before it starts serving the video to the user the client browser just gives up and says it can’t load the video.
You should be definitely using some CDN to host your videos and don’t just put them on the server where you site lives. FV Player supports CloudFlare, KeyCDN and StackPath: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting
If you want powerful video hosting and encoding service in one we recommend Vimeo Pro, but your videos must fulfill some of their rules.
FV Player Pro 0.8.29 was released and it fixes the issue.
Since Cloudflare didn’t see the application/json content type on our Ajax requests it was treating it as HTML and putting in some code to hide email addresses.
looking at the bug report by some other user I see the issue is caused by Cloudflare – it seems to be applying email protection to the JSON data for Vimeo video.
I was able to embed your video https://vimeo.com/188190784 and get it to play. Our 24/7 monitoring didn’t detect any issue either.
Are you able to disable the iframe embedding now so that I can check the issue on your site? I’ll be in the office unitl 3 PM UTC time, but we can try at some other time as well, if we agree on it, like 7 or 8 PM UTC. Or do you have some staging site where it could be switched for a test?
I put in a fix on the API server and now it works. The issue was that there was too much data in the API response and our plugin uses regex to do some basic parsing on it – and that was just failing because of the size of the string.
So the quick fix is in, but we will have to redo the way we handle the secondary CDN for MPEG-DASH. Currently the fallback if the DASH stream fails is that goes to MP4 video at least.
unfortunately for now it only works reliably on iPad, so we need to improve it further. We already made first steps for iPhone and it’s close, but Android is a bigger issue at this point.
I could play all of these videos. If some other videos don’t play, you can also check the browser console to see if you notice any errors which are not on the page where it works. You also haven’t mentioned what error you get.

the main FV Player script fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/fv-flowplayer.min.js seems to be corrupt. It doesn’t match what’s in distribution on WordPress.org.
I’m not sure how that could happen, are you sure you didn’t tweak that file in any way?
My recommendation is to reinstall FV Player completely and clear the cache of your browsers, then it will play.
I see why this is happening now – FV Player has a safety function in it which makes sure that the player is visible if it’s inserted into some weird responsive theme. You can see that the div class=”flowplayer” element has some inline width and height on it – that’s it. The max-width and max-height is normal – to make it responsive.
So when the width and height is removed from inline styles, the player won’t appear at all.
I’m not sure why OptimizePress handling of Flowplayer (which is a core of FV Player) is so strange. Do you have any special video settings in it enabled?
turns out there is an issue with Chrome 59 and even 60 (latest version). Flowplayer is not able to handle video errors in there anymore, so we fixed it in our plugin and submitted patch to Flowplayer team: https://github.com/flowplayer/flowplayer/issues/1221
Your playback issues are different though. We will improve our video checker to warn you about your video encoding. FV Player already includes a message for the users of old Android 4 stock browsers to switch to Firefox if they experience video issues. But it was appearing multiple times, which we also fixed in FV Player 6.2.6, released now.
On top of that OGV is not supported by Android, but I don’t see it on your page either.
thank you for the bug report. The 0.8.23 must be your FV Player Pro version, I expect you are using FV Player 6.2.5 or so.
What you found is a core Flowplayer bug (we submitted a patch for this to core Flowplayer team, next FV Player release will also have the fix in it) combined with use of not 100% HTML5 compatible video format (it’s the M4V format).
The whole issue only seems to affect Android 4. I have Samsung phone with Android 4.4.4 where they video would play without picture in the stock browser and in Chrome 59 it just failed. However on Android 5.1.1 (Asus) or Android 6.0 (Lenovo) it played just fine.
No I will adjust our video checker to report this issue – if the video is M4V video (major codec brand “isom”) we will show a warning that the video might not play on Android 4 (20% of Android users).
please try to test without cookies (use Private or Incognito mode of your browser). The quality setting which you pick is remembered in a cookie – that should explain the behavior which you are seeing.
I was able to find some “hlstest1” HLS stream on your site which played just fine for me. So it seems to me you figured out what the issue was already, but let us know if you are still having issues.
could you please post what exact shortcode you are using? The thing is there is <div class=”fp-playlist-vertical-wrapper”></div> around you player and it shouldn’t be there. Without it it should appear much better.
Or have you set the default playlist style to vertical in Settings -> FV Player Pro?
Mobile devices pick the default quality. This could be improved so that there would be a checkbox in FV Player quality settings to assign the default quality for mobile – pressumably you would pick the lowest one to make sure mobile users get the video playing as quickly as possible.
it’s not hard to make FV Simpler SEO work with another post type (WooCommerce products are using the core WordPress Custom Post Types). It good to hear that it all works now.
To do that, you will first have to deactivate the FV Player plugin you are currently using and delete it. No settings nor videos will be lost in the process.
You will have to deactivate and delete the current FV Simpler SEO plugin you are using – no worries, no settings will be lost, although WordPress might warn you about loosing some data in the confirmation message.

yes, we would like to re-enable that, however it seems we will have to change how the videos are loaded. The tap on the video will have to run the video ads and then another tap will be required to play the actual video. As YouTube is in iframe, there is no other way of doing this.
sorry about that, you must be using an old PHP version. We fixed this incompatibility and released a new version – 1.6.35.
If you can load your wp-admin, you should be able to delete the plugin and install the new version. If not, you will have to remove it using te FTP. Just look for public_html/wp-content/plugins/fv-all-in-one-seo-pack folder and delete it.
could you please double-check that what they are giving you is not a VAST compliant video ad? Then FV Player VAST would be what you need: https://foliovision.com/player/vast
If that’s not the case, then I see how we could allow you to paste your script in for each video. I guess they are also interested in tracking the video clicks, is that right? So it would be fair amount of scripts for each video and I’m not sure how we can include such interface for each video ad.

FV Player 6.2.3 was just released and it will show the captions for mobile devices all the time. For these it’s required as you can’t hover over the playlist items there.
We will be adding a drop down with playlist design presents with option to create your own.

It does make perfect sense to me thought that one template does not fit all situations so we are 1. making other templates available 2. planning to provide documentation on how to create and customise your own templates.
seems like the issue is that FV Player assumes “mp4” type for your live stream.
Are you able to save the HTML for FV Player version 6.2.1 to your intranet site and load it up? If so, then you can make some changes to it to see if it helps.
Or you can try to use the Integrations/Compatibility -> “Use old code” – that should really work. Then you can keep checking changelog if there were any fixes on RTMP.
We would love to fix this, but it appears your RTMP stream is not publicly avaiable or only runs at specific times – could you please confirm?

Alternativelly you can wait for the next release which will go out tomorrow. We just need to run all of our tests on it.
I’m sorry about our plugin letting you down. I see exactly what was the issue. It’s fixed now and version 6.2.2 has been released.
We do run automated tests our plugin before each release on PHP 7 and PHP 5.6. Then there is another round of more practical tests which simulate a real user using the player in various scenarios (single video, playlist, YouTube video, video ads, AB loop, shortcode editing, …) on a desktop computer, Android and iOS (some tests don’t work there yet).
However the reason why the plugin failed on your site was that the code was not compatible with PHP 5.3 or 5.2 which your server seems to be using. We need to keep our plugin compatible with PHP 5.2 as WordPress supports that (although it’s much slower than PHP 7 and not as secure as even PHP 5.6).
We will add testing in PHP 5.2 as well, as there is no excuse to this.
thank you for your through testing. Have you actually used a real iPad? Because that one will not get MPEG-DASH but a HLS stream, to which a different quality picking logic will likely apply. But it’s similar.
I don’t think we will be able to adjust how the qualities are picked based on the player size, as that’s handled in the Dash JS library we are using. We will concentrate on making sure the manual quality selection is respected and remembered for any further video playback.
One of the remaining issues is the playlist thumbnail size in the vertical playlist.

FV Player Pro 0.8.23 has been released and it adds the quality switching buttons to Vimeo MPEG-DASH streams. You can test it on our homepage video: https://foliovision.com/
When you play the video, it picks the quality automatically based on the player size and network speed using the Adaptive Bitrate logic.
This logic is used until you click one of the quality buttons by hand. Once you click any of these, then that quality will be used going forward and it will no longer check your network speed. Due to the nature of MPEG-DASH it has to finish playing the current segment before switching the quality, perhaps it’s something that could be improved in the future.
FV Simpler SEO simply makes sure the meta descriptions show up for the post excerpts. We do that by default as these archive pages look better if there is just a small amount of text for each post which is also hand-written and not just auto-generated. I don’t think our plugin ever showed “Continued” or “Read more” link for these.
You can avoid this behavior by enabling “Turn off descriptions for excerpts”.
