Unable to play videos – No Access-Control-Allow-Origin header error

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Bug Reports › Unable to play videos – No Access-Control-Allow-Origin header error

  • Evélina SIMON 7 years, 7 months ago

    Greetings FV Team!

I am still having errors with videos playing on my website. The CORS and crossdomain policy have been set/update carefully by your team and cloudfront cache was fully cleared, upon pro support request.

All videos are playing fine once (without any errors in the console), but then when we come back to it (either by reloading the page in ajax, refreshing the page or by leaving the page and coming back), the video won’t play and we get this error in the console:
No ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource. Origin ‘https://www.staging.harp-school.com’ is therefore not allowed access.

This only happens on Chrome (tested with latest Chrome on Win 10 and Mac OS 10.11). This is very annoying since 50% of my users are on chrome…

The only way I get to play the videos once again is after refreshing the page with a browser clear cache plugin. I have disabled my caching plugins (SG Supercacher and WP Rocket) but issue is the same. Even pausing cloudflare doesn’t change anything. So I’m not sure why clearing browser cache make the video work again once…

Here is a video capture of the issue:

Can you help please? Thank you in advance!

    Martin

    Hello Martin,

thank you for the comprehensive bug report!

The issue is not occuring on my Chrome 61 on Windows 10 nor Firefox. But now I see where the problem is, although I’m not sure why your Chrome browser behaves that way, it should not forget about these HTTP headers when caching.

Could you please check if you get the same issue if you post this video on your website?

Also, do you get the same issue when you play your video on our website here? https://d3kqo6411ge1e5.cloudfront.net/swen_lake_reloaded/index.m3u8 -> “HLS ISSUE WITH CACHING”

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

we will release new version of FV Player today with the new version of HLS.js library in it, perhaps it will solve the issue.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

another fix was put into the new release which should prevent these caching issues. Just upgrade to FV Player 6.3.4 and the issue should be fixed.

    Thanks,
    Martin
