Upgrading from 6.1.5 to 6.2.1 breaks thumbnail images in playlists. Tested on wamp and two live server hosts. Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Spot on Martin! Mea culpa! It was a cache problem and I should have tested for that. Long day. However, the playlist text description (caption) under each playlist thumbnail has gone. It appears over the thumbnail on mouseover but I would like (especially for mobile/tablet) to maintain the title under the thumbnail for playlists. I tried disabling ‘Playlist Style’ in the settings but my caption/text descriptor is gone from underneath. This may be intentional as it does appear on mouseover but I think it should be there to give a descriptor for mobile/tablet. Thanks for the great support as always!

The way to improve this is not to change the new default playlist (the one where title is not visible) but to offer other playlist templates (similar to the old format with the visible name but even then hopefully somewhat visually improved).

Our goal here is to really improve the default design of our templates for playlists. You might want to give the new playlist look a longer trial as it really does look fresher and more modern. It does make perfect sense to me thought that one template does not fit all situations so we are 1. making other templates available 2. planning to provide documentation on how to create and customise your own templates.

we discussed this further in our team and made some decision.
FV Player 6.2.3 was just released and it will show the captions for mobile devices all the time.
We will be adding a drop down with playlist design presents with option to create your own.

I do like the new playlist design but, for me, playlist items need visible titles for easy functionality on all devices. Thanks for changing this on mobile. Looking forward to the dropdown where I can return my titles on desktop. Thanks again for all your work on the best video plugin! :-)

Thanks for the quick bug report, Pádraig. I’m not a big mobile user (particularly for recreational activity) so I didn’t realise the hover over wouldn’t work on mobile (logically it should follow the finger). I’m glad the fix will help.
The old style design template should be back early next week. Sometime after that we’ll add full custom playlist templates for people with PHP skills.
