Video checker showing error when video plays

I’m rather new to this, so please bare with me. I just installed FV Player and uploaded a short mp4 video. When I add the mp4 via the Add Media button, a blank player is inserted into the page, but there is very faint “Error loading resource” text, so something is obviously not right.

However, when I click the FV Player button and then paste the URL to the mp4 into the URL field, I save the changes and load my site and I see the player with the Admin: Video OK text. I click to play the video and immediately get the html5: Video not found error, followed by the URL.

This is a WordPress site using the WordPress 2017 theme. I apologize for my sketchy details, but do you have any ideas as to what I am missing? My guess would be something with the mp4 I’m trying, altho this particular video plays just fine with VLC media player. Could the problem be where I’m uploading this mp4 to? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Me again – my issue was the format of the mp4 I was trying. I’ve corrected that and now my video loads. However, I am getting the Admin: Video Warning message now, but the video plays. I’m not sure where to go to fix this….

    Hello Ed,

could you please send the video analysis to us using the video checker? Here’s how it works in case you are not sure: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/how-to-use-video-checker

It’s also strange that it was showing as “Video OK” while it was not playing for you. Do you still have that poorly encode video somewhere so that we can improve our check?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Martin,

The video checker recommended I use a lower bit rate so my video would load faster and suggested that H264 High might not play on some mobile devices, and to use H264 Basic instead.

    Hello Ed,

these warnings look like they might be real. However it doesn’t appear that you submitted the report to us, could you please let us know if you did?

    Thanks,
    Martin
