Hi Bruno,
Thanks for the report.
I used Ghostery on most of my computers/browsers as well. To be honest, I run into a lot of website issues with Ghostery and have to customise the settings per site.
We’ll definitely look into what Ghostery is blocking for FV Player though.

9 years ago in reply to: iPad iOS 8.1 issuesHi Mark,
Thanks for the detailed notes on replicating the playback issue.
Vimeo Plus does not offer a player like this. I highly recommend Vimeo Plus or Vimeo Pro but they are both a lot better with FV Player Pro (which also allows you to have some ultrasecure videos on Amazon Cloudfront via RMTP at the SAME time you have most of your videos on Vimeo Plus).
Alas we are not responsible for exchange rates or VAT in the EU. Thanks for sharing your take though. If you have an EU business, you do not need to pay the VAT. Just enter your business number.
Cordial regards,
Alec

Hi Robert,
We look forward to working through your Spider video player issues as soon as we can. Unfortunately our lead programer is away on vacation until 5 January. Could you please go back to a known working configuration for now?
Generally we do not recommend using two video players at the same time. We don’t know of any functionality in any other player which would require a second player to load on a website.

9 years ago in reply to: Javascript is broken error due to W3 PluginHi Empty,
Are you using minify and combine functions in W3 Total Cache? They could be breaking jQuery or our javascript. Handrolling javascript files to combine successfully requires quite a bit of skill and experience, as well as some trial and error.
Let us know.

Hi Craig,
We don’t recommend using Excerpt (instead we have a meta descriptions field in FV Simpler SEO which we recommend end users use (as just getting the meta description filled properly is a battle, adding Excerpt makes the situation ever so much worse).
Thanks for using FV Plugins!
Hi Rehan,

Hi Dale,
FV Player Pro embeds YouTube video now with API and full functionality. Here is detailed documentation on how to do full YouTube integration: https://foliovision.com/player/youtube-with-flowplayer
Our player and our license is WordPress only. Only our license will work on our player and no other Flowplayer licenses will work with our license (all Flowplayer based licenses are product specific). We do offer crossgrades so if you have an existing Flowplayer 5 or JWplayer license please get in touch.

9 years ago in reply to: Embed for YouTube and Vimeo videosHi Rehan,
Thanks for your request.
Hi Martin,
We should come up with some embedding code which provides video from the original site (YouTube or Vimeo) along with a “via referringwebsite.com” which links to the post/page.
We could even consider sending a wrapper on the original YouTube/Vimeo video. The only issue with this reembedding could violate YouTube/Vimeo TOS and cause our user to have his/her accounts closed. Lucia should have a look at TOS.

Thanks for the field test, Mark.
We’ll take a close look and get back to you tomorrow. Quality of colour rendering is extremely important to us (I’ve made a lot of films myself and know first hand the work it is to get colours and light right in the first place).
Hi Martin,
Let’s make clicking the video thumbnail open up the lightbox please with just a class on it (like class=”video-lightbox”).
Hi Michael,
Would that be enough?

9 years ago in reply to: Lightbox, Share buttons, Quality switchingHi Tim,
Thanks for your detailed notes.
As Martin says, we’ll improve Vimeo quality switching so you can boldly go on using Vimeo as you’d like. We consider Vimeo to the best value and easiest to use video hosting on the web and will be supporting Vimeo hosting with a full feature set.

9 years ago in reply to: Protection video from downloadHi Nizami,
Vimeo includes a timestamp with the URL which is only valid for 20 minutes so the window of opportunity is fairly short. Amazon Cloudfront works the same way.
One of the downsides of HTML5 video is that clever downloader software can grab the video. This is true of Vimeo, Wistia, YouTube, Amazon Cloudfront.
If you want really secure videos, for the moment it has to be in a Flash player (FV Player can be forced to Flash only). Brightcove is very resilient in Flash (difficult to download from) but is 10X more expensive than any of our other hosting options. Do not believing anybody’s marketing who says they have a 100% secure HTML5 player right now. The URL must go through the browser and can be picked up.
Netflix has just enabled DRM on HTML5 which works with Chrome. Widevine is part of HTML5 going forward. We will add DRM options as soon as they become available.
For the moment, I recommend you keep working with Vimeo as it is by far the easiest and most cost-efficient secure hosting solution on HTML5.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or suggestions for how to improve the plugin or security. I will be personally working on this security issue and it’s a top priority for me.

Hi Sandy,
There’s lots of documentation here: https://foliovision.com/player
It sounds like a hosting issue (upload limits). If you’d like some hands on help feel free to grab a pro support incident.
Otherwise you can host on YouTube (free) or Vimeo Plus/Pro ($60/year).

10 years ago in reply to: _fv_flowplayer dataHi David,
Your license gets you the pro features and a single pro support incident. This is an additional incident. I don’t see a reason for us to resolve your server issues hands on for free. You should be happy that there is pro support available. Most plugins just tell you to fly a kit or sing you “some day over the rainbow”. Unlike the Judy Garlands of the development world, we will fix your site.
Sorry about that. In any case, thanks for being part of Foliovision!

10 years ago in reply to: Change Domain for Pro VersionHi Martin,
I’m sorry it’s not. In fact the license is not transferable in principle but is good for a single domain.
At some point we may put in some form of user level domain switching but for the moment it will remain manual. Just drop us a support ticket and we are happy to change it for you.
Making the web work for you, Alec
10 years ago in reply to: link to postHi Johnathan,
I’ve investigated further what happened to this feature.
When you hit the insert link button in default WordPress editor, you get a dialog window where you can search all of your posts and put in a link to post that way.
But then WordPress changed how this works – they no longer use iframe for this dialog, but a JavaScript dialog. That makes it hard for us to integrate it. So we decided to keep the default FCKEditor dialog and not go too deep into re-creating/fixing it. That was about 1.5 years ago.
Our recommended workaround is to search for the post using the standard WordPress search (either on-site or in wp-admin) and then copy-paste the link.
If implementing the built-in search is very important to your client, a $100 donation would allow me to allocate resources to adding it back.

We may have been piggybacking on a WordPress feature which has been removed. We prefer to do it just with the simple link button ourselves so we didn’t resurrect it.

Please don’t use the video box. Just enter the shortcode directly into normal content.

10 years ago in reply to: FV WordPress Flowplayer vs FV Player ProHi Ed!
Thanks for asking.
1. FV WordPress Flowplayer is the free version including RTMP and HLS streaming, social sharing, subtitles, Google Analytics and skins.
2. FV Player Pro includes Amazon S3 secure content, advanced advertising possibilities, advanced video lightbox, video quality adjustment. You need FV WordPress Flowplayer. FV Player Pro is optional (but you need it for the advanced functionality).
You can compare free and pro video plugins here.
FV Player Pro is the most powerful video plugin available for WordPress at a fixed price (i.e. other than weird enterprise subscriptions with hidden pricing).

Yes! Keep those meta descriptions pithy. Don’t use maximum characters but more like 130 or less.
Thanks for the code Bedros!
If your metadescriptions are in source, there’s not much more you can do. Google controls their algorithm. Apparently they take the metadescription more often when it matches the incoming query. You could look at what those pages rank for, if anything (harder now that referrers are encrypted).
Hi Bedros,
Google is not obliged to use the metadescription. They often do but go back and forth between using it and generating their own. Have you checked your source code to make sure the metadescription is turning up in your theme?
Hi Bedos,
Google (and Yahoo/Bing) only allow the first 143 odd characters thus in our SERP preview we cut off the metadescription approximately where they would.
I suggest you shorten your metadescriptions still further.
Cordial regards,
Alec

10 years ago in reply to: Firefox wont play my WebM fileHi Simon,
You shouldn’t turn the plugin to “flash by default” long term. We will definitely help you get your videos playing.
I’m just checking on your licensing now to make sure everything is working okay. It appears to be. Here’s the link to your license page where you should enter your domain to get a key: http://foliovision.com/site/wp-admin/admin.php?page=fv-licensing
When you have that key you should paste into your site at http://yourdomain.com/site/wp-admin/options-general.php
Open Sitewide Flowplayer Defaults by clicking on the title and then look for “Commercial License Key” and paste your license key in there.
Let me know if you still have issues with the license. If yes, please let me know what domain you would like licensed.
Thanks!

10 years ago in reply to: Wrong DomainHi Anonymous,
The licenses for Amember Flowplayer and FV Flowplayer are different. FV Flowplayer has a great deal of functionality that the Amember Flowplayer does not have:
- automated video encoding checker
- Text Ads (Google AdWords or your own)
- pre-roll, post-roll video (i.e. video ads)
- playlists
- full RTMP streaming compatibility
- mobile video support with flash fallback for some Chrome versions
- secure Amazon S3 and Cloudfront playback
- Advanced Vimeo Pro hosting support
- basic YouTube support (more coming)
- video lightbox
If some of these are of use to you, I hope you will join us as a user and supporter of FV Player Pro.

We are available for custom WordPress development, especially in the area of improving video presentation, so don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like help with specific websites.
Thanks.
10 years ago in reply to: Skins Cue Points and Slow MotionHi Nicole,
I kinda thought the player was containing 100% of flowplayer with amazon s3 connection coded in.
We have 100% of Flowplayer.org functionality plus a load more custom functionality and integration into WordPress which we’ve programmed. You can change the player CSS as much as you like to add another skin. What we do not have right now is multiple skins in a single website (which doesn’t sound like a particularly useful feature to me, outside of websites for small children: FV Flowplayer is focused on useful features like advertising, security and efficient workflow, not eye candy and bells and whistles).
If you’d like to have us build the custom template and posting interface for your client, please be in touch via a support ticket and we can quote you for any custom programming.

I’m glad we were able to help. We’re happy to keep improving the code of our video player. We aim to be the most feature rich and easiest to use video player on WordPress.
