Pre-roll 5-sec skip / AdSense Video ads (IMA) / Custom Skins

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Requests and Feedback › Pre-roll 5-sec skip / AdSense Video ads (IMA) / Custom Skins

  • rehan007 10 years, 7 months ago

After comparing different players, I finally decided to go ahead with this one but still I’m stuck on few things.

First the pre-roll feature with a ‘SKIP’ option after 5-sec, I’ve found a way to use the playlist option for pre-roll but it doesn’t offer a ‘SKIP’ button. So, how can I accomplish this one? And if there isn’t any such feature then when it’ll make its way into the plugin because I’ve checked different comments which are now an year old saying ‘its coming’.

Second, Google AdSense offers video ads which can be played before-in-and-after the video using Google’s IMA SDK (ActionScript 3). It seems that this plugin isn’t offering this feature either, so what can we do to integrate it in the plugin?
More info on this can be found at : https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/1705822
    https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/1705823

Third, custom skins, this is also mentioned in different threads but still we don’t have any sign of it appearing in the plugin. We can change the color but we can’t change the skin (icons, timeline, etc.). The only reason for this is that I want the player to look premium, so how can we edit the plugin in order to update the current skin?

In the end, I want to appreciate the experts who made this plugin, those who’re improving/maintaining it and I’m looking forward to their answers. Thank You

    Hello rehan007,

    1) We are behind on finishing the custom pre-roll video ads. Thank you for the suggestion about a skip button.

    2) You can check our integration with both VAST and VPAID ads here. The ad codes used in the demo also provide the skip button: https://foliovision.com/player/demos/vast-ads

It’s done using FV Player VAST which is currently in beta testing, let us know if you are interested.

    3) Custom skins – currently we only support the color settings. We tweaked the original skip created by Flowplayer.org, so it would be quite a bit of work to support all the skins.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Thanks for the information, Martin. Can you please explain if FV Player VAST is different than the FV WordPress Flowplayer (Plugin), if so, then what are its features?

Because I’m looking to buy the FV WordPress Flowplayer (Plugin). If VAST/VPAID ads can be integrated in it then yes I’m very much interested in it.

    Martin,

Where can I find the documentation on how to implement the VAST Ads with the skip button like in that demo URL?

    I’m a bit lost.

    Martin 11 years ago

    Hello rehan007,

FV Player VAST is a separate addon for FV WordPress Flowplayer. It adds support for both VAST and VPAID ads in pre-roll or mid-roll.

    Hello AdHocMediaSolutions,

let us know if you are interested in beta testing of our plugin. It’s easy to use, the documentation is on our list of things to do.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Yes we would like to participate in the beta test of the plug in. Please send me details on what we need to do to get the plug in.

    Please let me know asap.
    Thanks

We’ve already purchased. Please check your records and you will see that we purchased a 5 domain license.

Hi Martin, I have purchased FV Flowplayer license, can you please update my profile so I can test the beta version for VAST/VPAID add-on.

    rehan007 11 years ago

I’ve noticed one thing that adSense code added to the player via post panel to override the default ad doesn’t work. And the video starts giving this error:

Warning: Division by zero in /home/test123/public_html/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/models/flowplayer-frontend.php on line 335

And at the place of video :

    Admin: Video Issues
    ).push({}); </script></html>’]

I’ve also tried adding it as HTML pop-up but I’m getting the same error.

Any idea, how can I solve this problem?

    Hello rehan007,

FV Player VAST license was added to your account. You will find it in your account in “My Products” section.

If you have a static (non-video) ad code which you want to show above the video, you can put it in Settings -> FV WordPress Flowplayer -> Ads. You should check if it’s ok if the ad code only appears once the video starts playing with your ad provider though.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello,

only reason for me buying the FV Player would be using the VAST License to embed VAST Video Ads in my Player.

If I were to buy today, could you add the license to my account too?
    Thanks in advance,

    RikaNM

    Hello all,

the pre-roll feature was added to FV Player Pro. It’s currently in beta testing, so if you know your way around new technologies, you can look for “Video Ads (Pro) (Beta)” in the Settings panel.

It allows you to add custom video ads in front of your videos. First you define them in the settings (video file URLs and the ad link) and then you enable them for your videos in the individual video settings (or add ads=”random” to the [fvplayer] shortcode).

We are still testing it on some client sites, once it’s fully tested, we will add user guide and all.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi,

I just purchased a VAST license and have been testing it out. Excited you guys have integrated this! With the explosive growth of online video advertising, there’s a big demand for good VAST/VPAID players that are easy to use. With that said, here’s some feedback I’ve noticed so far:

    1) There seems to be a bug with VAST autoplay. When I have a preroll ad and the player is set to autoplay, the audio from the video starts to play over the ad, so the ad audio and video audio overlap. Obviously not an ideal advertising experience. The audio restarts when the ad is over and the video starts to play. This behavior isn’t present when the player is set to click-to-play.

    2) The ability to add multiple fallback ad tags would be huge. For example, if I work with several ad partners, I could add their ad tags in order of precedence. So if tag from partner 1 fills, it plays that ad. If it doesn’t fill, the player would try to grab an ad from partner 2, partner 3, partner 4, etc.

If I come across any other notes I’ll pass them along.

    Hello Team FV,

Regarding my previous static-ad related problem, well it can be added using default ‘FV WordPress Player’ page in the ‘Settings’ but can’t be changed on individual videos using ‘post’ panel (FV icon above toolbar) even though the option is there.

Second, I’ve noticed a small problem in the player with lower-resolution videos (360 & 240) which doesn’t qualify 16:9. When you click the video to play, the ‘splash’ image on top of the video doesn’t disappear, it remains there and can be seen on the right & left sides instead of black bars. Here is an example: http://rehan4testing.site90.com/wpvid/?p=86 It doesn’t occur in IE11 but occurs in GoogleChrome37. Can you please fix this or tell me any solution?

    Martin 11 years ago

    Hello Matthew,

thank you for your interest in our plugin!

    1) Autoplay – thank you for the report, we will fix this.

    2) Multiple fallback ads – we already have this on our list of features to add.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi Matthew,

Could you tell me more about what you’d like from custom skins please? I’d love to add this feature for you to give you the premium feel you want.

    Cordial regards,

    Alec

    Hi,

Any update on the VAST autoplay bug? I updated the Flowplayer VP plugin to the latest build but the video audio still overlaps the ad audio when set to autoplay. Is there anyway I can set the default player and ad volume to mute? I tried setting the default volume to 0.0 but the audio in the ad still plays.

    Thanks!

    Martin 11 years ago

    Hello Matthew,

we are working on the Multiple fallback ads and that slowed down our progress on autoplay fix.

Regarding the ad volume setting – are you sure your ad network will permit that? They might not like it. We will have to think about it some more, like what user interface could be used for it and so on.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Matthew G. 11 years ago

Thanks Martin. All ad networks I’m familiar with will allowed muted play. Do you have any ETA on when the next release will be available? Will it be available via the WP admin interface?

    Martin 11 years ago

    Hello Matthew,

we should be able to take care of these issues later this week.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hello Matthew,

we should be able to take care of these issues later this week (mainly the autoplay bug).

However could you please post any website where the ads start muted? I wonder what kind of user interface could be used to turn the ad sound on.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Martin 11 years ago

    Hello Matthew,

we fixed the autoplay bug and added multiple fallback VAST tags and we will release the new version as soon as we finish testing.

The demo of the multiple fallback VAST tags can be seen here: https://foliovision.com/player/demos/vast-vpaid-ads

    Thanks,
    Martin
