5 years ago in reply to: Vimeo Access Token Error
Thanks Martin and Juraj. Where can I find the errors that are logged in the Verbose debugging mode?
I did a search on my Posts and Pages to find the following videos that were in the API error list and nothing appeared…
https://vimeo.com/252270100 (can’t find in my shortcodes)
https://vimeo.com/343518099 (can’t find in my shortcodes)And this video error is interesting…
https://vimeo.com/335676300/8a73adc4c2 I don’t even know who owns this video and I’m wondering how it was being pulled in through my API and website somehow?Other than that, my videos do seem to be playing normally. I usually add my own custom splash screen through the FV shortcode. There might be a few that use the Vimeo splash screen.
Let me know if you think there’s anything else I should do at this point.
Thanks,
Devin5 years ago in reply to: Vimeo Access Token ErrorHow do I figure out how to delete the video from the database? I’ve added all my videos to posts through shortcode only so I don’t see them in the FV Player database video list. Any ideas on how to figure out which post the video is on?
Thanks again,
DevinHi Martin,
I hope you’re having a good week. It seems like my video links are acting up again when there are multiple links on the same post. You’ll need to log in again to my site countryguitaronline.com to test. The login I sent to the foliovision support email address should still work. Let me know if you need me to resend.
Here’s what I am seeing on my end…
When I click on a lesson post… here’s the latest https://countryguitaronline.com/how-to-play-a-solo-in-c-for-bluegrass-and-country/
Then I click on the “Full Breakdown” tab…I click on the 0:00 link in the table and it works…then if I click on the “Measures 1 through 4 and Soloing Tips” link next to it, it doesn’t work. Then if I click on another link..let’s say “20:00″…it works, but then if I try to click again on the 0:00 link it doesn’t work.Can you replicate the issue? I’m having trouble in both Chrome and Firefox.
Let me know if you need any other information.
Thanks!
DevinHi Martin,
One more follow up on my previous message a few minutes ago… I tried to disable the MPEG-DASH but it still seems like the error is still popping up. It looks like the Foliovision site is having the same issue with the videos. I opened a ticket with Vimeo as well but they said they can’t help since I’m using a third party plugin but it seems like they must’ve made some sort of change to the MPEG-DASH or something. Thanks again. Let me know if you need more info.
Devin
Perfect, thanks Martin. One quick question… When I add a new post and I add videos to the edit post page, I always just copy and paste the shortcode and then copy/paste the new Vimeo link into the shortcode. I don’t use the FV Player button on the edit post page to add a video every time so I don’t think the videos are being added to the FV database since I’m just copying the shortcode. Can I still use my old method of copying/pasting the shortcode when I add videos going forward? Or do I need to add a video with the FV Player button? I usually like working with the shortcode manually because it’s a bit quicker for me.
Thanks,
DevinHi Martin,
I hope your week is going well. I just ran the latest FV Player update to 7.4.2.727 and after the update the player started giving me the same issues when I click through multiple video links. Does the latest plugin update include the change that you made to the plugin link you sent through GitHub? I went ahead and installed the previous version on my site for now.
Thanks!
DevinPerfect, thanks
Perfect! It works great now. Thanks for figuring it out. Really nice to have that feature up and running again! When this update is pushed down through the regular FV Player updates to everyone in their WordPress dashboards, will I get a notification to update FV Player just like everyone else? Or will I need to download the correct Release version from the Foliovision website to install myself?
Thanks,
DevinHi Martin,
I just installed the new version and did some testing. It seems like most video links work correctly, but the links on my most recent post are still behaving the same way when you click back and forth between different links. It happens a lot on the video under the “Bass Line Walks” tab on this post https://countryguitaronline.com/johnny-cash-style-rhythm-and-fills-guitar-lesson/
I cleared my website cache, purged my CDN, cleared browser cookies and cache. It still seems to be happening in Chrome and Firefox on my end. Do you still have the login I sent so you can test it out? Maybe the CDN is still holding on to the old code and hasn’t purged completely. I’ll test it again later today.
Let me know if you need any other information.
Thanks,
DevinThanks Martin! I’ll keep an eye out for the update – Devin
5 years ago in reply to: New AB Loop DesignHi Martin,
Thanks for the update. I really like the demo that you have on the Foliovision site. The overall functionality is much better. I tried switching over to beta on my site, cleared cache and purged my CDN… I’m using a custom skin on my video player. Will the new AB loop work with a custom skin as well? The AB loop feature seemed to look the same when I was using beta and a custom skin.
Here are a few of my thoughts based on my first time testing the new AB loop feature:
– I really like how you move the play bar below the video so it doesn’t cover up the video when you’re using the AB loop tool. That is a huge plus!
– I also really like how the “in and out” times popup just above the triangle selectors when you move them. That is really easy to understand and very helpful.
– Would there be any way to make the triangle in and out selectors a bit larger… especially on mobile. It’s a bit hard to grab the triangles when I’m using my iPhone and it might look nice to have them larger for laptop/desktop as well.
– Would it be possible to add an option to attach the in and out triangle selectors to the main progress bar as opposed to having a new “AB loop progress line” above the main progress bar as it is now in beta? I do like this new design better than the current version in release, but to me, it could be even simpler and more straight forward if the in and out triangles are attached directly to the main progress bar… and if you kept the time stamp above the selectors when you drag them, that would be perfect… and slightly larger triangles to make it easier to click and drag.
Overall I’m really happy with the new look and functionality. Those are just a few thoughts based on my first impression.
Thanks again!
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Vimeo Connect ErrorHi Martin and Juraj,
It looks like it was an issue with my web server after all. I created a ticket with my hosting company as well and they must’ve fixed it on the backend because everything seems to be working properly now.
Thanks for checking.
Hope you all have a good week!
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Play Button Icon on Play Bar is a Square6 years ago in reply to: New AB Loop DesignThanks Alec. I mostly sent the example above just to show the functionality from a UX design perspective. I definitely agree that their design could use a bit of work. I’m excited about the new folivision AB loop design. If it’s anything like your other work it is going to look great. Thanks for the reply. – Devin
6 years ago in reply to: Light Box HelpOk, I installed the previous version. I have a custom fields plugin installed and have it setup where I can add custom js to the head or just before the closing body tag on a specific page. Is there a way to add the lightbox js to one specific page?…so I won’t have to load a new script on every page of my site. I really need the FV Player lightbox to work for a page I’m putting together and I’d be willing to get Pro Support through foliovision if needed.
Thanks,
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Light Box HelpHi Martin,
Thanks a lot for the help. I tried everything you said…deleted FV Player and reinstalled the download you sent. When I enabled the “Remove fancyBox” setting, my website appeared to have a conflict of some sort. The first thing I noticed is that my main page image was gone…I have a parallax image that I added using the Parallax Backgrounds for VC plugin. Also, it seemed like the WPBakery grid builder wasn’t showing the grid of my lesson posts. Will I need to remove this downloaded version of FV Player and reinstall the original version?
Is there another option for adding the fv lightbox js? Maybe registering the code in my functions.php file in my child theme?
Thanks again,
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Light Box HelpHi Juraj,
Thanks for the reply. I did follow the Folivision documentation for setting up the lightbox feature. I tried it once more a minute ago and the lightbox popup still seems to be getting blocked on my test page https://countryguitaronline.com/testing-light-box/
I’m trying to attach the system info file to this support forum thread using the “Upload Images” button but it won’t let me upload a .txt file. I’ll send my system info file to support@foliovision.com.
I have not used the lightbox feature on my website before this. I’ve only used the standard video player.
Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks!
Devin6 years ago in reply to: New AB Loop DesignHi Martin,
Sounds good, can’t wait to see the new AB loop design when you get it finished up.
Actually, I think you’re right…setting the loop earlier, like in your example 0:20 to 0:30, might be the issue. Possibly my students are playing the video, letting it play…then they realize they want to loop a section they just watched and set the loop before the current play position. I think the extra AB loop bar below the actual play bar might be causing some confusion too..I think they might have trouble seeing the in and out times to the left and right of the AB loop bar. I think it does work fine once you get the hang of it.
Here’s an example of an AB loop on a video on a different guitar lesson site… https://www.sixstringcountry.com/lessons/youll-think-of-me.3558920 I really like how the “A” In marker automatically moves the video position instead of the loop starting once it finally hits the Out marker point.
Anyways, just some ideas. Thanks again! Hope you have a good week –
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Speed Buttons – YouTube VideosThanks Martin! Ran the update and it’s working great. Thanks for fixing it so quickly. Hope you have a good weekend –

6 years ago in reply to: Playbar – Hide on paused videoHi Alec,
Sounds good, I definitely understand. Thanks for the reply. I’m really looking forward to the improved AB loop bar and everything else you all have in the works.
Hope y’all have a great weekend –
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Playbar – Hide on paused videoHey Martin,
Would it only go below the video when the AB Loop is activated? If so, would there be a way to add some js that, when the AB Loop isn’t activated, and when the video is paused, people could hide the control bar on click outside of the video frame? I like the default look of the player now, and it totally makes sense to have the play bar visible when the video is paused. I might be one of the few that would need this functionality…I noticed YouTube’s playbar acts the same way. If it isn’t possible, maybe I could figure out how to add some custom js in my child theme.
Thanks again,
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Playbar – Hide on paused videoHi Martin,
Thanks for the reply. It does cover up an important part of the video…would there be any way to add an option in the future for hiding the control bar on video pause? I really like the lower profile look of the video player without Control Bar Always Visible but it does cover up a section at the bottom on video pause. I’ve just received feedback from a few students on my site that are pausing the video to work on sections of my lessons with the guitar tablature at the bottom of the player, but the playbar covers up the tablature on video pause. I really love the new features and design of the video player though. It all looks really great. Not a huge deal, but figured I’d ask anyways. Could be helpful for other music teachers using fvplayer.
Thanks!
Devin6 years ago in reply to: Video Playback Error on IE?One more quick follow up on my last message a minute ago…
I just noticed…in FV Player Pro > Settings > Hosting there are some API errors that are showing up…
I’ll copy and paste the first few rows here…
There were 101 API errors, last one from 2018-12-16 16:29:16.
2018-12-16 16:27:49: Error for video https://vimeo.com/205980902: Too many API requests. Wait an hour or so, then try again.

Devin6 years ago in reply to: Video Playback Error on IE?Hi Martin,
I’m still getting some new reports of video playback errors, but the player seems to be working fine on my end too. The latest error somebody got was the following:
html5 video not found; Couldn’t find the required video type /video fvmp4
They said it’s happening on most videos. They’re using a Mac with Safari (version 9.1.3). Their version of Safari seems out of date so I asked them to update and see if that will fix their issue. Going to do some more basic trouble shooting with them and see if I can fix it on my end without wasting your time. I’m guessing it’s a temporary glitch that will work itself out.
I actually got the “html5 video not found” error once myself, but reloaded the page and it seemed to work again. Do you have any ideas on how to prevent this error?
Thanks again!
DevinHi Lucia,
I don’t have the video checker disabled but I’m not seeing any video checking in the upper left of my videos when I play them. I just see the social share icons.
My mac pro is using OS X Yosemite and I’m using Chrome Version 69.0.3497.100. It does look like Chrome is currently updating on my mac so let me see if that will fix it…ok the browser update looks like it may have fixed the problem. That’s good to know if I get any reports of video skipping. I guess it wasn’t working with the older version that I listed above.
I’ll keep you posted if I notice the issue again but it looks like that could have fixed it or maybe it was a Vimeo CDN issue that worked itself out.
Thanks,
Devin6 years ago in reply to: New Player – AB Loop and Play Bar CSSHey Martin,
I like the new improved AB loop bar. It does make it easier to select the beginning and ending time to loop.
I use Advanced CSS Editor plugin to add CSS and target different devices easily without having to do a bunch of media queries…I ended up adding the following CSS and I like how it looks. The CSS below that adds a fixed width to .fp-elapsed was pretty key in getting the main playbar to stop jumping around…but I noticed the width does need to be narrower on mobile.
Global CSS:
.flowplayer.skin-custom .fp-elapsed {
width: 32px;
}
.flowplayer.skin-custom .noUI-time-in {
padding-left: 1px;
}
.flowplayer.skin-custom .noUI-time-out {
padding-right: 1px;
}
Mobile:
.flowplayer.skin-custom .fp-elapsed {
width: 18px;
}
.fv-ab-loop.active .noUi-origin.noUi-connect {
margin-left: 5%;
}
I’m sure there are better solutions but that has it close enough for me right now.
I think one thing I was confused about when I first used the new improved AB loop bar is that the I and O points are referencing a new AB loop bar below the main play progress bar. I think it could be more standard to have the AB loop I and O points mark the beginning and ending on the main play progress bar as opposed to marking the points on a new bar down below the main progress bar, but that’s just my take on it. I do really like how the AB loop now shows you the actual in and out times right below.
Overall, really great improvements though. Very happy with everything y’all are doing.
Thanks –
DevinHey Martin,
Awesome, thanks! I just ran the update and enabled MPEG-DASH. Cleared cache and purged the CDN. Really appreciate your help finding the issue.
I’ll tell my members with Samsungs to run the Chrome update if needed and see if it’s working again for them.
Let me know if you need me to test anything else.
Thanks again,
Devin
Hey Martin,
I think I might have my acronyms confused. I was thinking HLS is the same thing as MPEG-DASH. No worries, I’ll leave all the fun details to y’all :) Glad you know how to figure it all out.
I’ll keep it on Beta for now with the MPEG-DASH disabled and keep an eye out for updates whenever you get it all ironed out.
Just let me know if you need any other info from me.
Thanks!
Devin
I just tried it out and it looks like it’s working about the same in the Release and Beta when I click the button to disable MPEG-DASH. I checked in Google Analytics real time…and checked the events for both. It seems like the videos playing in Release and Beta with MPEG-DASH disabled are playing in html5 and not HLS. I currently have https://countryguitaronline.com set to Beta. Can you tell if it’s playing the videos with disabled MPEG-DASH so it will play smoothly for all the Samsung users?
Gotcha, thanks. I did make the switch earlier and the video was looking a little too crisp. I’ll give that a try in beta. Thanks
Hey Martin,
Awesome, thanks for checking. Having so many devices these days can be such a pain. If I check the “Disable HLS” option in FV Player Hosting Settings, will that fix it for now just like it did under the previous version/skin of the FV Player?..until you can update the HLS
Thanks,
DevinHey Martin,
He said when he taps the reload arrow, the same error occurs. He said it happens just about every time.
I’m actually not sure why that arrow is out of place there. I’ve never seen that error before in all of my testing and I can’t figure out how to reproduce it.
Let me know if you need any other info –
Devin
Great, thanks!
6 years ago in reply to: MPEG-DASH – Video Skipping on MobileHi Martin and Everybody,
I am really liking the look and options of the new player. Just switched back to Release after using Beta and it’s still working great.
Quick question…is there a way to enable Chromecast on the new player yet?
Thanks,
Devin
6 years ago in reply to: MPEG-DASH – Video Skipping on MobileHey Martin,
I see, that makes sense. I just toggled over to Beta and purged my CDN…everything looks great on this end — the logo watermark is gone now! I had a couple of members that reported buffering issues on their Android tablets with the old Release version of FV Player..just sent them an e-mail to test the new Beta player. They tested the Beta player on Foliovision’s website a while back and the videos played great for them there so hopefully my other plugins aren’t causing issues. I’ll let y’all know what they say.
Thanks again –

I just thought I’d write in to see if you have any new updates on how to remove the logo watermark from the beta player.

6 years ago in reply to: MPEG-DASH – Video Skipping on MobileHey Martin,
I’m using the Custom player skin (settings on attached screenshot). I was doing a bit more testing of the Beta player and found a styling idea to possibly consider:
The left side of the player timeline jumps around depending on the time of the video…it looks like the time ticking affects the width of the timeline. Could you set a fixed width for the counter to keep the timeline a solid bar?
Also, will removing the logo watermark from the beta player require a plugin update so I’ll know when the change has been made? No huge rush but I’m just excited to switch over to the new player. I really like the look of it a lot and it seems to be pretty reliable so far.
Thanks again –

6 years ago in reply to: MPEG-DASH – Video Skipping on MobileGreat, thanks for you help. Do you need me to keep Beta activated on my website? Or can I switch back to Release for now? Just wondering because the logo covers up some of the guitar tablature that I embed into my lessons.

6 years ago in reply to: MPEG-DASH – Video Skipping on MobileHey Martin,
I deactivated KeyCDN, removed the FV license code and added the code back, purged the CDN several times, but the logo still shows. It shows after I pause the video, and it also shows all the time in safari and on my iPhone. Any other ideas? Is there a quick fix in the meantime?..maybe like deleting a line of code in my child theme somehow?
Thanks,
Devin
6 years ago in reply to: MPEG-DASH – Video Skipping on MobileHi Martin,
I tried to remove the license key and re-activating…the player is still showing the FV Flowplayer logo watermark at the bottom left of the player…it shows the logo just before the video plays, and if you pause the video and click play again, it shows the logo for the remainder of the video.
Here’s a page on my site for you to test https://countryguitaronline.com/jimmie-rodgers-style-rhythm-and-fills/
Do you have any other ideas on how I can remove the logo watermark?

Devin7 years ago in reply to: 2017 iPad Pro — Videos FreezingHi Martin,
Following up on my previous e-mail from this morning my time…
I heard back from my guitar student having the iPad video freezing troubles…he said it’s working now and playing videos just fine on his iPad for both Safari and Chrome. Sounds like it may have just been some random CDN issue possibly? Sorry for taking up your time on this one. I asked him to let us know if it keeps giving him trouble.
Thanks for checking on everything and I’ll keep you posted if he writes back.
Also, could check out the attached image from my last message and see if there’s a different place I’m supposed to find any possible video errors in Google Analytics?
Thanks again for all the great work on the player. Can’t tell you how happy I am about the new sticky video feature.
Devin
7 years ago in reply to: 2017 iPad Pro — Videos FreezingHi Martin,
I sent the request over to my student Mike. We’ll see what he has to say.
Also, I checked my Google Analytics this morning. See attached screenshot. I’m having trouble finding any video errors in the report. From what you can tell, are there no errors, or am I looking in the wrong place?
Thanks,
Devin7 years ago in reply to: 2017 iPad Pro — Videos FreezingHey Martin,
One more follow up on my previous message on this thread…
My guitar student replied after testing the video on the Foliovision page. Here’s what he said…
“The video froze 2/3 of the way through, would not restart, had to refresh the page to get it to start. No quality control buttons. Sometimes it freezes while it is buffering, never to open unless I refresh, sometimes a minute or so into it and I have to refresh. A couple times I was able to stop and start repeatedly and was able to make it play but freezes shortly there after.”
It sounds like it may be loading HLS on his iPad somehow instead of mp4?
Let me know if you’d like me to ask him for any other details.
Thanks!
Devin7 years ago in reply to: 2017 iPad Pro — Videos FreezingHi Martin,
Really appreciate all the help. Also, the Google Analytics feature is great! I wish I’d installed that a while ago. Looks like it’s working under Real Time. I’ll check it over the next day under Behavior > Top Events.
After I paste the tracking code into FV Settings, will it only track video statistics, or will it also track page visits and all the usual Google Analytics? Or would I need to install a second plugin to track site-wide statistics? If I need another plugin, do you have one you’d recommend?
One more quick question — my student that’s having iPad issues…he said it’s all videos on the site. If an older video doesn’t have HLS, does that mean I uploaded it to Vimeo with certain settings that don’t allow HLS?
I sent the other troubleshooting questions to him and I’ll keep you posted on that.
Thanks again!

My student messaged back and said he’s in Boone, North Carolina…was in Florida last week and same issues with the html5 video encoding error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Not sure what could be causing this, but sounds like he’s tried several different things and starting to get frustrated with it.
Thanks!

I’m still waiting to hear back about where he is located…I do have the Enable MPEG-DASH checked.
He’s still having issues…he sent another e-mail over reporting the same problem…must’ve missed my note asking his location. Followed up again to see if he could clear his browser cache and maybe see what version of safari he’s using.
Any other ideas?

Nice! It’s working great on my older Mac now. Thanks for your great work on this. Really excited to add it on my website.
I tested the videos on my older Mac and on my newer Mac with retina.
Old Mac – https://foliovision.com/player/demos/mpeg-dash
The top video played smoothly with 1920×1080 at 753 kbps. The bottom video with MPEG-DASH with 3840×2160 at 24795 kbps kept pausing and couldn’t play well like before.Old Mac – https://foliovision.com/player/demos/mpeg-dash?limit
Top video played well with 640×360 at 190 kbps. The bottom video with MPEG-DASH with 640×360 at 938 kbps played perfectly.Old Mac – also tested full screen on the MPEG-DASH limit…played at 640×360 and eventually increased to 1280×720 at 3052 kbps and played smoothly the whole time. Great! It does look similar to YouTube and the other auto quality streaming I’ve seen out there. Looks good to me.
New Mac – https://foliovision.com/player/demos/mpeg-dash

8 years ago in reply to: html5 Video Error with Vimeo QuestionHi Martin,
Hope everything is going well. I just wanted to follow up on the MPEG-DASH and see if you’ve been able to figure anything out as far as preventing the switching to the highest possible quality for older computers and smaller screen devices like my old Mac Pro. Do you think it will be possible to update? The manual quality switching is working great for my students but still excited to activate the auto quality switching with MPEG-DASH.
Thanks again!
Devin
8 years ago in reply to: html5 Video Error with Vimeo QuestionHey Martin,
That’s very strange. Well, if you can get the MPEG-DASH to not switch to the highest possible quality, I’d really like to use the MPEG-DASH because it’s working great on my newer mac pro…would be a great feature to add to the site. I’m excited about switching over. Maybe the safari issue with the manual switching is a random conflict on my site with another plugin…who knows. Let me know if you get the MPEG-DASH updated and I’ll do the testing on my older mac.

Just thought I’d follow up on my previous message and tell you that my member just sent me an e-mail and said the player is working great for her now. Good news! Maybe Vimeo just corrected something on the backend with their CDN.
Thanks again,

8 years ago in reply to: html5 Video Error with Vimeo QuestionHey Martin,
Thanks for all the info. Really appreciate all your help. I wonder if my student with the 10.6.8 is just behind on her software updates on her computer? Or do you think it’s possible her mac is so old that she can’t go higher than 10.6.8? All this cross browser/device compatibility is such a pain!
The video quality switching with the MPEG-DASH is working great on my newer mac pro with the larger screen, but it’s still forcing 4k on my older mac and won’t play the video — here’s a link to a screencapture https://vimeo.com/216835173/2f21e9c1b0 It seems like this older mac can’t handle anything higher than 1080p…it won’t play it smoothly and the picture looks funny because the screen doesn’t have a high enough resolution. The older mac has OSX 10.10.5…if it helps, it has 13 inch, Early 2011, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB memory, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB. I’m definitely ready to switch to the MPEG-DASH option but I’ll probably hold out until it’ll play smoothly on my older mac here…I’m guessing several of the older folks using my site probably have older computers than this one.
For the manual quality switching on Safari, you can try this link here https://countryguitaronline.com/country-hybrid-picking-chord-embellishments/ This video will load fine at 360p, but when I click to increase the quality, it gets hung up and shows the loading dots. This happens on both of my macs…one with OSX 10.11.6 and the older with 10.10.5.
Hope this helps! Thanks again for all the help, and let me know if you need more info.

That makes sense…I guess Vimeo is trying to force out the old technology. I just updated to v24. Let me know about the Safari when you find out…I’m still unable to make the quality switching buttons work on my Safari and I think my browser and computer is pretty up-to-date.
Thanks a lot for all the help!

8 years ago in reply to: html5 Video Error with Vimeo QuestionI just wanted to post a quick follow up to this thread…I got some more feedback from one of my members that’s having issues with the player working on her computer. She’s using Safari and is using os x 10.6.8. I did some testing on my two mac pros (one with 10.11.6 and one with 10.10.5) and it looks like the quality switching buttons aren’t working on Safari for me…the video loads at the low 360p but gets hung up if you try to increase the quality. Everything’s good to go on chrome and safari on my end.
Anyways, thanks again! Hope that helps narrow stuff down.

Hey Eduard,
Good news…I heard back from two members and they said it played great for them at 360p. They were very happy to be able to watch the lessons without any skipping. Just like we thought, turns out their slow internet speed was causing the issues. Glad to have it fixed for them! Think I’ll stick with the manual quality switching for a while and maybe I’ll get some extra sign ups from the folks that live out in the country with slow internet.
Thanks again,
Devin
Hey Eduard,
1) I just tried again on my iPhone 5 and it is looking great now — only one play button. I bet I had an outdated iOS. I actually went and got a iPhone 7 this morning…it was time for an upgrade.
2) Thanks for adding the answer to the documentation. That’s what I needed. I think I’ll try out the Enable Quality Switching and see if that helps the playback for that small handful of members with slow internet. A few people were saying the player was stopping and skipping on every video and I’m pretty sure their slow speed can’t handle the HD. I asked them to try it out at 720p and the lower qualities, so I’ll let you know what they say. I really like the idea of the auto quality switching with the MPEG-DASH that you added…it’s still playing a bit choppier on both my macs compared to the other playback options, so I think I’ll let everybody switch quality on their own and see what feedback comes my way.
Thanks again!
Devin
Hi Eduard/Martin,
Thanks a lot for all the continued support. I think you’re on to something there…I went to my Vimeo channel and it looks like it’s giving me the option to switch to 4k but defaults to the “Auto”. I’m assuming it’s like that for an embed on my site with their default player also…
I manually switched to 4k on my newer 15″ Mac Pro with the retina screen and it played just fine. Then tried manually switching to 4k on my older 13″ Mac Pro without retina screen and it skipped and paused just like the test video #2 I sent. It looks like the DASH.js is choosing 4k for my older mac.
Hope that helps.

Hi Eduard,
I made a couple of screen recordings to show the videos on my two different macs. Both of these lesson videos are shot in 4k.
Video Test 1
Password = foliovision
This is the longer video playing on my newest Mac Pro (screenshot of specs attached). This shows the fast forwarding that I was talking about.
Here is the actual video on my site.Video Test 2
Same password
This is a shorter video showing some skipping on my older Mac Pro (screenshot of specs attached).
Here is the actual video on my site.I disabled the beta version and the mpeg-dash for now so my members can watch with the normal HD streaming. I’m really excited about the mpeg-dash and think it’ll be a great thing for my site. I’ll plan on switching over to mpeg-dash full time when it smooths out a bit.
Thanks again! Let me know if you need anything else.

8 years ago in reply to: Slow down video to 25%Hey Eduard,
You probably already saw this but I just noticed one thing about the video slow down…it actually works in Safari…slows down to 25% and plays audio. It even works on my iPhone.
I guess it Chrome and Firefox don’t let the audio play at 25%. I haven’t done any other browser testing besides those three.
Thanks again,
Devin
Hi Eduard,
Thanks for the update. I just installed the update and it seems to be working smoother.
One quick question…I was doing some testing in the different browsers with the Beta and MPEG-DASH switching activated…everything seems to be working great in Chrome…
I tested a longer video in Safari and here’s what happened on my end…
Pressed play, video loaded at lower quality, then increased quality like expected…I skipped forward in the video to about 18 minutes…it loaded up fine…then when I skipped backwards to about 15 minutes or so, the video lost audio and it started fast forwarding and it would never catch up to live video. I tested a few different times and it did it every time. Maybe it’s a conflict on my end.I’m wondering if you might have the same thing happening in Safari with the MPEG-DASH activated. Everything looks great in Chrome.
Thanks again! Still really enjoying the player.

8 years ago in reply to: Slow down video to 25%Hey Eduard,
I see, that makes sense. Too bad…it would be nice to get the audio down to 25%. In that case, is there any way to add a setting where I could remove the 25% step? Ideally, I’d like people to click the “-” and slow down to 75%, then another click to 50%, then any other clicks, it’ll just stay at 50% instead of going to 25% with no audio.
Thanks again,
Devin
8 years ago in reply to: Fatal error on latest updateHey Martin,
Thanks a lot for adding the responsiveness to the iframe. That will be a huge help for me and my site as a safety backup. Really appreciate the update.
Devin
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the update. I ran the update in WordPress and I’m having trouble finding the Enable MPEG-DASH (Beta) option…I’m probably looking in the wrong place — see the attached screenshot of my dashboard. Is there another place I can find the MPEG-DASH option?
Thanks again,
Devin
Hi Eduard and Martin,
I received a reply back from my member that tested the beta player on your test page…he said the quality switching buttons did not show up this time…he was using Chrome and Safari. He also said the videos played for him without freezing. Very happy it’s working for him.
Thanks again for the great work on the player. Looking forward to the update.
Devin
Hi Eduard,
Thanks for the reply. I sent a message to that member to ask the browser. I’ll let you know.
Thanks,
Devin
Hi Martin and Eduard,
I noticed two plugin updates come through the past two days. Does the player now include the auto quality switching for vimeo? It read the update details and it looks like the MPEG-DASH integration was added.
Also, I heard back from one of my members that I asked to test the videos on your MPEG-DASH integration test page…he said they played fine at 360p but none of the other three choices. It sounds like the quality switching buttons were showing for him. Is this a default…where a person’s browser or internet speed can’t handle the quality switching, it will show the quality switching buttons?
Thanks again,
Devin
Hi Martin,
Thanks! Can’t wait for it to be released. I did some testing on my computer and everything looks great and it plays smoothly.
I also sent the test link to the members that were experiencing the freezing on playback. I’ll let you know how they’re able to play the videos as well.
Thanks again,
Devin
Hi Martin,
Perfect, works for me! I was just curious about how the YouTube video quality was working. Good deal.
Looking forward to the Vimeo update.
Thanks again,
Devin
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the info. I’m excited for the update once you get it finalized! I think it’ll be a really nice improvement to the player.
Will the FV Player use the auto-quality switching for YouTube videos as well? Or will that be something you could add?
Thanks again,
Devin
Sounds great, thanks!
Hi Eduard,
Thanks for the reply. Really glad to hear the auto quality switching is on the way…that should help my members with the slower connection play everything without freezing.
Do you have an estimate on when your team might have the auto quality switching pushed down through a wp update?
Thanks again for all the help, and great plugin…it’s really been nice feature for my guitar lesson business.
Devin
Hi Eduard,
Thanks, that does help. Few more quick questions…I’ll add a numbered list so you can maybe copy and paste and answer below each. Sorry for the long response…
1) I tried the quality switching option…it defaults to the lowest quality upon load. Is there any way to default to HD first, then allow users to switch to lower if they need to?
2) If I don’t have that option checked, does my 4k video default to 1080P in the FV Player? Or does it play 4k quality?
3) For the FV Player quality switching option, would there be a way to add a 2k and 4k quality toggle selection in a later update?
4) If I check the FV Player toggle option, will the player default to the same quality for desktop and mobile?
5) Are you planning to integrate the FV Player with the Vimeo auto quality switching? I’ve had a few members complain about my video playback speed, and some cancels as a result of that. I love the AB looping feature of the FV Player and the video slow down feature, but if the videos are dragging, I’ll have to weigh the options.
Thanks again!
Devin
Hey Eduard,
Nice! That’s good to hear. I’ll see if they can tell me the speed of their connections.
One more quick question…I know Vimeo went to the quality switching…when there’s a slower connection it’ll lower the quality to keep playback going smoothly. Does the FV Player always default to HD? Or does it respect the Vimeo quality switching? All of my videos are shot in 4k and I’m wondering if it’s forcing 4k quality on these users and their computers can’t keep up.
Thanks again,
DevinThird try haha…here’s the correct link to Test #2Test Page #2 wish I could edit my post.
Sorry…addon to message above…I messed up the link to Test Page #2 above. Here’s the correct page Test Page #1
Hi Eduard,
Thanks for the quick reply. My site is Country Guitar Online — I created a user so you can test on my site. Username: Eduard; PW: foliovision
I also have two test pages for you to test:
Test Page #2
(Page #2 has sidebar removed and extra video #5 that you can only see when you’re logged in)Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks!

Hi Martin,
Thanks a lot for looking into it. I tested the iPad AB loop on the demo at the link you sent. It looks like the AB loop feature’s working for me as well. That’s strange the playback speed controls aren’t showing…I’m almost positive they were showing up a few weeks ago because my cousin was using his iPad to slow down some YouTube videos on my lesson site. They’re showing up on Vimeo embedded videos on iPad. Any way you could possibly add the slow down buttons to for YouTube vids as well? Just wondering because a lot of my users have iPads that they use for watching my guitar lessons.
Anyways, thanks again for checking on it!

8 years ago in reply to: Fatal error on latest updateHi Martin,
It’s fixed now. Phew…almost had a heart attack there for a second!haha Thanks for the quick response and fix!
I use vimeo as my host…I know FV Player has a backup in place that defaults to the standard vimeo embed if the FV Player goes down. I noticed a couple quick things that you could probably fix for the next update:
1) The backup vimeo player frame isn’t responsive. Maybe you could add the extra wrapper and CSS like this (I’ve used before and it seems to work well):
<style>
.video-wrapper {
position: relative;
padding-bottom: 56.25%;
height: 0;
overflow: hidden;
max-width: 100%;
margin-bottom: 20px;
}
.video-wrapper iframe {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
width: 100%;
height: 100%;
}
</style><div class=”video-wrapper”>
<iframe vimeo#####>
</div>2) Also, I noticed that the backup player worked in the Chrome browser, but it didn’t work in Firefox…in Firefox, it just showed the fv shortcode. I didn’t do any other browser testing but I don’t think it worked in Safari either.
Anyways, thanks again. Love the plugin.

8 years ago in reply to: Fatal error on latest updateI just tried to install the 4.27 and it gave me a new error. See screenshot. Can you tell me how I can fix?
