New Player – AB Loop and Play Bar CSS

    Hi Foliovision Team,

    Just wanted to write in with a couple of things I noticed about the new player. Still loving the new features and everything.

    I can’t seem to get the AB Loop player to work properly on my site countryguitaronline.com …I can set the beginning and end points, but it’s not looping.

    Also, the play time that counts as the video progresses is still making the playbar jump around a lot and it’s hard to select a specific time in the video unless you click pause.

    That’s it for now! Thanks again, and let me know if you need more info –

    Devin

    Hello Devin,

    I was able to use AB loop on https://countryguitaronline.com/monthly-giveaway-video/ without issues just fine. Please note that the AB loop markers are currently not aligned with the video timeline.

    We are reworking that a bit for the new FV Player Pro version. Activating AB loop will make the video timeline full width and the AB loop bar will be full width too. It will also move all the controls below the video – to ensure full video is still visible and there is not too much of controls covering important parts of it.

    We were checking the control bar issue. It only happens if you let FV Player inherit the font form your theme. But we have thought of a solution, so I pinged Viktor again to take care of this.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hey Guys, After installing the latest player update, I too am having trouble with the player. I see that this post is 3 weeks old… Is this the same issue, or a new bug? Thanks.

    Hello Kenneth,

    please let us know what issue you are having. Is it the AB loop not working? Or are you referring to the issue with the control bar moving a bit to left and right as the time advances?

    Or are you asking us about the new improved AB loop bar?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hey Martin,

    I like the new improved AB loop bar. It does make it easier to select the beginning and ending time to loop.

    I use Advanced CSS Editor plugin to add CSS and target different devices easily without having to do a bunch of media queries…I ended up adding the following CSS and I like how it looks. The CSS below that adds a fixed width to .fp-elapsed was pretty key in getting the main playbar to stop jumping around…but I noticed the width does need to be narrower on mobile.

    Global CSS:

    .flowplayer.skin-custom .fp-elapsed {
    width: 32px;
    }
    .flowplayer.skin-custom .noUI-time-in {
    padding-left: 1px;
    }
    .flowplayer.skin-custom .noUI-time-out {
    padding-right: 1px;
    }

    Mobile:

    .flowplayer.skin-custom .fp-elapsed {
    width: 18px;
    }
    .fv-ab-loop.active .noUi-origin.noUi-connect {
    margin-left: 5%;
    }

    I’m sure there are better solutions but that has it close enough for me right now.

    I think one thing I was confused about when I first used the new improved AB loop bar is that the I and O points are referencing a new AB loop bar below the main play progress bar. I think it could be more standard to have the AB loop I and O points mark the beginning and ending on the main play progress bar as opposed to marking the points on a new bar down below the main progress bar, but that’s just my take on it. I do really like how the AB loop now shows you the actual in and out times right below.

    Overall, really great improvements though. Very happy with everything y’all are doing.

    Thanks –
    Devin

    Hello Devin,

    thank you for your notes.

    In the new AB loop design in which we are working on (it will be in FV Player Pro Beta first) the player timeline moves to the top of the controlbar and is aligned with the ab loop bar perfectly. The whole controlbar also moves below the video to make sure the full video can be seen and it’s not covered too much.

    We removed the display of the loop start/end time and put it into a tooltip which shows up when you drag the loop end points.

    Thanks,
    Martin
