FV Player integrates well with most membership plugins out there. On top of that, you can use our FV Player Pay Per View plugin to sell individual videos and playlist with the help of Easy Digital Download or WooCommerce plugins, or you can integrate videos into subscription levels with Restrict Content and other membership plugins.

Q: There are two PPV plugins. Which one should I pick?
A: The different versions integrate with two different popular commerce plugins. The choice is yours. Either you prefer WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads.
If you happen to buy the wrong version by accident, contact us over at support@foliovision.com and we’ll change it for you.
Q: Are there any differences between PPV for EDD and for WooCommerce?
A: The plugins work and look just the same. There may be slight variations arising from the peculiarities of said plugins, but nothing substantial. The choice simply comes down to which commerce plugin fits you better.
Q: Does PPV protect my videos?
A: Yes, in a sense. It locks said video behind a paywall. The video is not present at the page and cannot be accessed until paid for, meaning bad actors cannot do anything at this point.
However, once the viewer has paid for access to the video, it comes down to your other video security solutions. If you have an unprotected bare .mp4 link (for example simply hosting your video on your website), the video will be easy to find and download for anyone with minimal developer tools experience. If you’re interested in better video protection, see the video security documentation section for tips and more information.
Q: What payment options do I have?
A: FV Player PPV doesn’t affect this. Any payment method you set up with the commerce/membership plugin can be used to pay for the videos.
Q: Can’t other people use the purchased PPV link?
A: No, these links and PPV purchases are tied to the user IP address. Since the IP address might change we allow 2 more, but then we also check the user agent. So it’s not possible to share the link to many people in the short period of the video rental duration.
Q: Can I use PPV with a playlist?
A: Yes, you absolutely can.
Q: Can I get a free trial?
A: No, we do not provide free trials. However, if you find that you’re unable to make the plugin work the way you want, you can ask for a refund within the first 30 days. The only rule is that you’ll work with us in good faith to resolve the issues. If we cannot help you, we’ll gladly issue a refund.
If you want to see FV Player Pay Per View in action first, you can see it here.
Q: What is the difference between PPV and subscriptions?
A: PPV allows you to sell access to individual videos. You can think of it as an cinema ticket. Subscriptions let you assign the access to videos to membership levels. For example, subscriptions let you have a level for members to view paid content, and another level for premium users who’ll get more content.
Which you pick depends on what fits your content, monetization model and site better. Let’s assume you are to sell movies and TV series. PPV is better suited to sell access to movies – like a movie ticket. With TV series, it is more suitable to go with a subscription model and allow members to access the whole show in one go instead of having them pay for every episode separately.
Q: Which membership plugins do you support?
A: Most membership plugins work on the basis of restricting access to whole pages/sections of website. Thanks to this, you can restrict access to any page where FV Player video is posted, thus you can use virtually any membership plugin you want and FV Player will work great with it.
We have tested and reviewed some of the most popular ones to help you make a decision. Find out all about it in this article.
Apart from working great with nearly all membership plugins, FV Player also includes a special integration with Restrict Content.
If you find that FV Player doesn’t work properly with your LMS or membership plugin, follow this guide.
Q: Which LMS plugins do you support?
A: Just like with membership plugins, FV Player should work great with most LMSs.
If you find that FV Player doesn’t work properly with your LMS or membership plugin, follow this guide.
On top of that, FV Player includes special integrations with LearnDash and Tutor LMS.
Q: Does FV Player have an integration with a different membership plugin or LMS than those mentioned?
A: No, but we’re open to integration and feature requests. If you think we should support a plugin or its feature, let us know about it (along with your reasoning) via support@foliovision.com.
Q: Do I need to buy the Pro version of Restrict Content?
A: No, the integration works great with the free version as well, so you do not need to get the Pro version of either, unless you need it for other reasons.
Q: Can I set subscriptions with a different membership plugin?
A: Not at the moment, but we’re looking to support more plugins for this feature. If you think we should support subscriptions for your plugin of choice, let us know about it (along with your reasoning) by messaging us over at support@foliovision.com
Q: Why is the subscription solution a part of the PPV?
A: Originally it was an temporary solution, but we like the idea of giving you both options at once, sparing you the need to buy both solutions and perhaps even overpay. The subscriptions feature was added without raising the price of PPV plugin.
Q: What payment options are available for subscriptions?
A: FV Player PPV doesn’t affect this. Any payment method you set up with the commerce/membership plugin can be used to pay for the videos.
