With FV Player 8 the video autoplay is only allowed if the video is visible on the page. The video starts playing right away when it’s visible above the fold or when user scrolls down to it. This prevents bad user experience where a video might play without any indication of it playing.
The global settings for autoplay are in wp-admin > FV Player > Settings > Autoplay and Preloading.
The autoplay options are:
Autoplay Video in Viewport
Video will autoplay when the player is visible on page load or when user scrolls down to it.
It will pause when no longer in browser viewport.
Video will not play again when user scrolls up to it as this mode is intended for blog articles.
Sticky Autoplay
The video will autoplay and become sticky – following user’s scroll position.
This way user keeps control of the video while scrolling down the blog article.
Video Preload
First 3 videos on page will preload (or 1 if it’s HLS). This improves the video start-up times as they will play instantly when clicked, but it will increase your video bandwidth usage.
Note: Audible video autoplay is not allowed in web browsers. Please read the chapter on Problems with audible Autoplay.
