It was the luckiest circumstance to stumble upon Foliovision! My first contact with Foliovision was when my original web designer recommended them and they started working on our shopping cart integration and a couple of custom Wordpress plugins on our website. We eventually ended up with Foliovision completing the whole website and launching it. I first found Foliovision while researching a Movable Type to WordPress conversion. I wanted to move my client's site to a self-hosted WordPress platform without losing all their images, comments, and links. Foliovision offers a tutorial for the same service, but I felt it worth the investment to let them take care of everything. The whole project progressed seamlessly and my client and I were thrilled – so much so that I used Foliovision's services again for a similar Blogger to WordPress content move.

After I had moved to WordPress I needed to move Informed Comment to a hosting service that would be able to handle my bandwidth, which, on occasion, is quite large as I am a very prominent blogger. I mentioned it in my blog and Alec Kinnear, the CEO of Foliovision contacted me and asked if he could do something for me.
Foliovision set me up and the move was accomplished with minimum disruption. There were big demands on the server from my site occasionally and Foliovision staff put in a lot of hard work to make sure that there were no outages. They have done a nice re-design of the basic outlook of the site and that has been very positively commented on. People like it; it has a kind of nice, clean look to it. Of course, a lot of what Foliovision does is behind the scenes so my readers won´t know that they are getting this value added. One of the things that Foliovision has done for me is finding and installing plug-ins that are sure to work, and are safe. Nowadays, in order to run a successful blog, one really has to be more of a techie. I think bloggers need technical support of this sort.
Aside from those technical things, the most important is that Foliovision is helping me become a more effective blogger/journalist by advising me on fundraising. It has been a very satisfactory relationship so far. Working with Foliovision has been a very collegial experience; when I have asked for things to be done, they have been done efficiently. The more importantly, Foliovision has been proactive in coming to me with suggestions which have been excellent suggestions.

Network Solutions as acted with the cavalier disregard of the public utility it once was. Bad brand, bad!… We lost all the blog posts since December 18th, 2009. This too is thanks to Network Solutions which managed to delete the entire database. Yes, that's 1.5 million words, and many years of work, made to disappear in a puff of digital smoke. Bad brand, very bad brand.

When I first started blogging back in '05 I was a bit confused by WordPress, so I opted for TypePad. TypePad has been easy to use, but I've enviously watched WordPress evolve into a far superior platform. My anxiety level increased as its parent company, Six Apart, was sold to a new owner. The thought that some new owner of TypePad might one day shut it down was frightening. But so was the idea that in moving to WordPress, I might jeopardize my content and traffic. Fortunately I found Foliovision - and here's three reasons why I can highly recommend their work:
1. Foliovision spent a great deal of time explaining the conversion process before I signed on. Since we started working on the project, they have patiently answered questions that a serious techie must find rather naive. Bottom line - while they wrote the book on TypePad to WordPress conversions - they can discuss it in layman's terms.
2. They manage project workflow with style and efficiency. Through the conversion process I worked with four specialists via their Foliovision's Basecamp collaboration tool. Replies were timely and each person seemed well aware of what the rest of the team was doing. 3. It turned out to be an engaging collaborative effort. OK - so I didn't have much to suggest to Martin about programming or Marieta about CSS. But I did have a bit of synergy with Michala, the lead designer and project manager. We shared loads of design ideas and exchanged screen shots as the look and function of the new blog took shape.

One of the compelling factors in selecting Foliovision versus other providers was, when I contacted some of the other providers, their response was not as professional, they acted more like maybe single individuals that were trying to do some business on the side or something, so, they said some of the right things, but they didn’t have a process in place, and I’m very process-oriented. As I transitioned my blog from WordPress.com to WordPress.org, my webdesigner OMSH recommended Foliovision. I’m not a very technical person, so the fact that my webdesigner and Foliovision were familiar and comfortable with each other was very important for me. OMSH and Foliovision worked together seamlessly to upgrade my site; they made it run faster and created a more user-friendly environment for my readers. I am particularly impressed by their Basecamp system, which allows the entire team to stay on the same page when a site issue arises. I had a friend who recommended Foliovision to me, because I wanted to migrate my site elizabethesther.com from Typepad to WordPress. It would have been just too much work for me to do it on my own, so I went with Foliovision and the cooperation turned out to be great! Foliovision worked really fast and kept me regularly updated with the progress of the works. That was great, I just loved knowing how far along we were. I think it was great all around and that it’s a fantastic service that Foliovision offers.
I can handle my site, but I’m not a super tech-savvy person, so I really appreciated the service and I recommend it to everyone, most of all for people who can’t handle this kind of technical stuff. Foliovision did it for a good price, especially for how many pictures and articles I had on my site, so it was absolutely worth it. Moreover, I can’t think of any concerns associated with the delivery of the works or any improvements I could suggest.
