Hi Martin,
now it works perfectly. Yeahh!
It works great on splash screen, play, pause and last frame.
I feel happy and relived.
Thank you!

I have installed and tested 2.2.9 on one of my sites. Sadly, this bug still appears.Looks like your working fixes didn’t make it into 2.2.9?
Which version will they be in?
Cheers,

looks like these fixes didn’t make it into the just released version 2.2.7 ?
Which version are they going to be in?

11 years ago in reply to: IE 11 ioad indicator weirdnessHi Martin,
seeing above that 2 out of 3 parts of this are solved: Do you plan to include your bugfixes that improved this issue on http://foliovision.com/html/fv-fp-ie11.html in the next patch release of the plugin?
I’m asking because even this partial fix would be very valuable for me:
With your latest fixes my new site is almost ready to go live, because then only the splash screen has the anomaly: I think I could temporarily work around that by photoshopping the splash screen so that the anomaly happens on an area of uniform color and is less visible, at least for the normal size of the video on desktop computers …
Thank you!
*curious*

I got back early, immediately checked the test page and: Yeah! Big improvement!
On http://foliovision.com/html/fv-fp-ie11.html this is what happens:
1. After (re)loading the page, the load indicator weirdness is visible.
2. After starting the video, the load indicator weirdness is gone, yeah!
3. After pausing the video, the load indicator weirdness is still gone, yeah!On http://foliovision.com/ the load indicator weirdness is still visible in all three cases.
This is a great step forward!
Cheers

I’ll be back at the office on Friday and will check the test page as soon as I get there.

> this is not easy to figure out. It might be even depending on your hardware.
O.K., I’ll help in any possible way. For example: Could it help you if I set up remote access to this machine for you? RDP, TeamViewer etc? Maybe it won’t help either, because remote access will bypass the GPU rendering?
> We will put together a demo where the player will use different CSS for the loading indicator and see if that helps.
Sounds great, I’ll check all of those as soon as I get them. Also feel free to use my e-mail from this forum profile in case it can’t be posted online.
> Also, are you able to play/pause/seek in the video (or in the buffered part) freely? Please check this on your test video.
I checked this on http://foliovision.com/ and yes, I can play, pause, seek and it works just perfectly (with the exception of the load indicator distortion being present all the time).
BTW: In the video with the fireshow (http://foliovision.com/) this distortion may be overlooked easily, because there is so much action and change all the time. In the business video that I’m working on there’s not so much wild action, it’s basically me talking into the camera- and then the distortion hits either the play button (before the video is played) oder my face while I’m talking. So in this case the distortion is very prominent.
Thank you for working on this difficult case!!
I’m very much looking forward to publishing the whole new site, where the video has a very prominent place on the 1st page!Cheers,

11 years ago in reply to: IE 11 ioad indicator weirdnessHi Martin,
Regarding 1) It plays as HTML5
Regarding 2) Yes, the same issue appears on http://foliovision.com , too! See the screenshot:
Regarding 3) The problem disappears when I disable the hardware acceleration.
So if hardware acceleration is causing the problem:
How can this be fixed?

11 years ago in reply to: How can I disable the flash fallback?Hi Martin,
thank you for your detailed response!
Regarding 1) Thank you for this useful shortcut!
Regarding 2) Ah, good to know. I read the section “Manual Editing” on the page
http://foliovision.com/wordpress/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/user-guide
which does not list the width and height shortcode attributes. But in retrospective, I could have guessed from the screenshots in the other sections. Thank you for pointing this out!!Regarding 3) After fixing the size, the black bars are gone. The load indicator weirdness is still there, but I’m going to describe that one in a separate thread. I turned off flash without any extra software, just by clicking the gear icon > internet options > programs > manage add-ons > flash > disable
so that should not interfere with the HTML5 video!?Thank you very much for your detailed response, 7 out of 8 browsers are working perfectly now!
Cheers,

11 years ago in reply to: How can I disable the flash fallback?Hi Martin,
thanks for the hint, I clicked “Admin: Video OK” to submit problem reports for this video in some of the browsers. Find the details below:
I’m glad that 5 out of 8 browsers are working already.
I investigated more, as follows:
I re-encoded the video with the settings shown here:
http://www.php-schulung.de/wp-content/uploads/handbrake_settings_VIDEO_PSD2_v3.pngI display the new video here:
“http://www.v2.php-schulung.de/video-debug/”The video itself is at:
“http://www.v2.php-schulung.de/wp-content/uploads/video/willkommen_php_symfony_v3.mp4”The message “Admin: Video OK” shows in every browser.
Mac OS 10.8.5 Safari, Flash off: Works perfectly
Mac OS 10.8.5 Chrome, Flash off: Works perfectly
Mac OS 10.8.5 Opera 12.16, Flash off: Does not work, as expected
Mac OS 10.8.5 Opera 12.16, Flash on: Video plays, but is vertically stretched. It also extends below the top edge (open in Chrome to see what it is supposed to look like …).Mac OS 10.8.5 Firefox 28.0, Flash off: The following message is shown: “html5: Unsupported video format. Try installing Adobe Flash.”
Mac OS 10.8.5 Firefox 28.0, Flash on: Video plays, but is vertically stretched. It also extends below the top edge (open in Chrome to see what it is supposed to look like …).Windows 7 Internet Explorer 11.0.7, Flash off: Very weird display problems: The three flashing dots in the center that indicate the loding of the video keep flashing even when the video is playing. In addition, black bars are shown at top and bottom.
Windows 7 Opera 12.16, Flash off: Does not work, as expected
Mac OS 10.8.5 Opera 12.16, Flash on: Video plays, but is vertically stretched. It also extends below the top edge (open in Chrome to see what it is supposed to look like …).Windows 7 FireFox 28.0, Flash off: Works perfectly
I clicked “Admin: Video OK” to submit a problem report for this video in:
* Internet Explorer (Windows) (v1 and v3 of the video)
* FireFox (Mac) 2 times (v1 and v3 of the video)
* Opera (Mac) (v1 of the video)I’m glad that 5 out of 8 browsers are working already.
Any hints for the remaining three browsers?

11 years ago in reply to: How can I disable the flash fallback?P.S. O.K., after rethinking this I realize that it was not a good idea to remove the file to find out if HTML5 will be used by a certain browser: This may be misleading because if the HTML5 player can’t find the file, that might be a reason to fall back to the Flashplayer, too!?
Therefore:
Is there a quick and easy way to check in each browser whether it’s playing via HTML5 or Flash? (Other that checking the HTML source each time?)
Cheers,
Timon
