I have two iphones both with iOS 15.02. A video plays on the newer SE but not on the iPhone 8. What would account for this?
Also can you tell me what MediaConvert settings would be correct for viewing on mobile devices. As far as I can tell, the settings I should use are QVBR: 7, bitrate: 1,500 Kbps.
Thank you.

Hello Apasho,
thank you for reaching out to us!
Is the video in question a basic mp4 or a different format?
As for MediaConvert output settings, we recommend using the ones you will find in the step 14 of this guide: https://foliovision.com/player/securing-your-video/mediaconvert-encrypted-hls-guide
HLS switches qualities automatically. Unless the user changes manually (in which case it gets remembered as a preference), an appropriate quality for mobile device will be picked.
Thanks,
MariaHello Apasho,
we did receive reports of MP4 videos not playing on iPhone with iOS 14 or 15. These videos wouldn’t play even if opened directly in the iPhone Safari browser. It really seems like the modern iOS versions have some issues with the reliable MP4 playback.
Please check your videos using the Video Checker feature of FV Player: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/how-to-use-video-checker
I would like to see the report for your MP4 file and also the HLS M3U8 stream as so far there were no issues with HLS playback on iPhones.
Thanks,
MartinThe videos are ok. It must be the issue with iOS that is causing the problem. Than you for your help.
