Vimeo Pro Loads Slow & No Default Splash Image

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Vimeo Pro Loads Slow & No Default Splash Image

  • Kenneth C. 9 years, 8 months ago

I purchased your Pro player this past week, and I’m using it to play my Vimeo Pro account videos. It’s taking a long time for the videos to load and I can’t get my default splash image to show up either.

It’s not just my player that seams to be loading slow because I went to another website with the same setup, and they load slow there also.

The splash image will show up if I use the urls vimeo has for 3rd party players, but not when I use the private url from the address box at top of the vimeo page. From what I understand, if I don’t use a default image the player uses the one I have set up in vimeo, but I tried that, and it didn’t work either.

    Hi Kenneth,

I’m sorry for the issues you are facing with Vimeo with the new version (we’ve just done a major core upgrade from Flowplayer engine 5 to engine 6). Please try upgrading to the latest version (you may need to reinstall manually from your account at Foliovision.com).

If that still doesn’t work, there will be a Vimeo fix this week. Vimeo is among our highest priority hosts. I use Vimeo personally.

Once again, I’m so sorry about your timing. Vimeo is

OK. I just installed an update that appeared in my plugins page for the FV Player Pro Version 0.5.1 – Is that what your referring too, or do I need to reinstall the “FV WordPress Flowplayer” I currently have Version 6.0.3.2 installed.

When I installed the update above, it didn’t fix the issues. So if I need to manually reinstall it, are the 2 downloads showing in my Foliovision account the new updated versions, or the same ones I downloaded a week ago? Thanks!

    Hi Kenneth,

The one you have installed should be the right one but we just pushed a new update yesterday with lots of fixes.

    Hi Martin,

Could you let Kenneth know the exact current status of Vimeo playback with the v6 plugins so he knows what issues to expect now and knows when they will be fixed?

Hi Guys, I installed the update that popped up in my wordpress panel, but I don’t see any changes with the default splash or the videos loading any faster. I was now trying to embed a Youtube video and use the A/B looping function, but I can’t get it to work. Does that feature only work on my Vimeo videos? Thanks!

    Hi Kenneth,

    Thanks for writing.

The YouTube API is a lot more restrictive than Vimeo’s methods. It could be that AB looping is not working with YouTube (if it’s not working, I’m not sure if we’ll be able to make it work).

We’ll get back to you at the end of the week about whether you should expect AB looping on YouTube in the future.

    Hello Kenneth,

could you please send over a demo URL?

It works for us here: https://foliovision.com/player/demos/user-ab-loop Could you please test it and let us know what browser you use?

    Thanks,
    Martin

Thanks Martin! My youtube videos now have the A/B feature. You guys had a different code on the demo page before. There was a backslash at the beginning of the code. like: [fvplayer src="https://vimeo.com/125678796" ab="true"] – I’ve been insterting that backslash on all my vimeo videos, and it works fine for those, but I had to remove it for the youtube videos to work properly. Great, that solved that issue! Thanks again.

Alec mentioned before that you folks were working on integrating a new playlist feature. Is that going to be released anytime soon?
