[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Issue playing Amazon S3 HLS

  • jacques l. 4 years, 12 months ago

    Hi ,
I just buy the pro version and activate it on my test web site under WP.
This movie play well under jwplayer on an another site under Joomla.

I’ve created crossdomain.xml file on the root site directory as mentionned.
I’ve also loaded the file on my Amazon S3 bucket.
I have added php header to allow crossdomain …
    I have enabled hls.js
    Nothing works
You can try using the URL: https://test.mediakwest.com/test

Thanks in advance for your help
    Regards
    Jacques

    Hello Jacques,

Please turn on our Admin Video Checker and check that problematic HLS stream with it. Let us know what does it say.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Hello Jacques,

you should be checking if the CORS headers are properly set in your S3 bucket: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/how-to-enable-cors-headers#aws

Without these CORS headers a HLS stream will only play where it’s natively supported – which is mainly iOS and Safari. Using JW Player doesn’t make a difference.

I was not able to find your report in your mailbox, perhaps your WordPress is not setup to send email properly. But I do see it says the mime type of the video is set to “null”.

If you want to host HLS videos on AWS you will have to make sure you are not using the URL signatures and the videos have to be public. Using CloudFront with S3 is one of the way to achieve that:

    Thanks,
    Martin

    hi Martin
    thanks for the answer.
The CORS is already setup in AWS for a while.

Ive started to setup the Cloudpoint not yet finish…

regarding the mime type to NULL
Is a way to fix that ?
    Thanks

    Hello Jacques,

Perhaps the crossdomain.xml file is in a wrong format or you’ve entered CORS policies into wrong place within AWS. If they were set properly our Admin Video checker would recognize it. Please check your settings.

The mime type can be fixed in your source S3 bucket. You can find more info regarding this in this guide.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Thanks,
    I will check everything.

One think , I don’t understand why the new videos files is running on our actual Joomla site using jwplayer. If the issue is relevant to the AWS configuration, he won’t play on this site… I think …
Since 3 years , our video files run well and we have already made the CORS setup in AWS environment….

In the mean time , I’ve checked the javascript console and I have the following error.

Is this relevant to my actual playing HLS issue ?

    (anonymous) @ fv-flowplayer.min.js?ver=7.4.21.727:1
    each @ jquery.js?ver=1.12.4-wp:2

    Hello Jacques,

it seems to me that you have progressed on resolving the issue. I tried to post your video to my test site and Video Checker reports that it’s all good. Notice that it reports a lot of details about the video, while in your case it was somehow not able to access it at all:

    Mime Type: application/x-mpegURL
Compatibility: CORS headers and crossdomain.xml found
    Duration: 00:21:11.02
    Video:
    Stream #0:1: Video: h264 (Constrained Baseline), yuv420p(tv, bt709), 480x270 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 90k tbn, 47.95 tbc
    Stream #0:3: Video: h264 (Main), yuv420p(tv, bt709), 640x360 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 90k tbn, 47.95 tbc
    Stream #0:5: Video: h264 (Main), yuv420p(tv, bt709), 1024x576 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 90k tbn, 47.95 tbc
    Audio:
Stream #0:0: Audio: aac (LC), 44100 Hz, stereo, fltp
Stream #0:2: Audio: aac (LC), 44100 Hz, stereo, fltp
Stream #0:4: Audio: aac (LC), 44100 Hz, stereo, fltp

Even CORS and crossdomain.xml are fine. And it plays without issues.

So it seems to me all is working now. If you have a minute please let us know what was the issue you had to fix.

    Thanks,
    Martin

hi Martin. the issue had several causes.
ive created cors crossdomain.xml and change the php header to allow cross domain.

even that nothing was working because the uri of the file was taking an another way to access the files and dont take the cors setup.
After a black night of tests…
I change the url by inverted the placement of the bucket.
    sonovision.s3… instead of s3-amazon.sonovision…
now the access go to the right path and take in care cors and crossdomain.

    thanks for your help
