html5: Video file not found

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › html5: Video file not found

  • Sergio T. 7 years, 9 months ago

I’m getting some complaints from various users that the video is appearing html5: video not found, I try to reproduce this same error on my machine, I use windows 7, 64 bit, I used google chrome, mozilla and internet explorer in ultimate version, but I could not reproduce the error .
Since I have recently received this complaint from several students, I would like to know what may be causing this error. I use vimeo plus to host the videos and im using this shortcode: [fvplayer src="https://vimeo.com/136716157" splash="https://i.vimeocdn.com/video/624908686_1280x720.jpg?r=pad" caption="6 Aula - Lançando as Atividades"]

I noticed that this error has been reported recently.

Follows a page using the same shortcode for testing:

    Dash Videos

    Hello Sergio,

This was caused by an issue with switching between various CDNs Vimeo uses for delivering the MPEG-Dash streams. We have just released a fix for this in the latest update. All you need to do is to upgrade the Pro plugin to version 0.8.27 and the MPEG-Dash streaming should work properly.

Just follow this process to check if it works correctly:

    1. Play the video
    2. You should be able to see “FV Player Pro: Preloading {video id} of video/fv-mp4 type” and “FV Player Pro: MPEG-DASH found!” in browser console
    3. Now you can check m4s files in browser developer tool’s network tab. You will probably get these from skyfire.vimeocdn.com
    4. If some segment fails to load 4 times you will see that in the nework tab and you will also see “FV Player Pro: MPEG-DASH error, retry 1!” in the console
    5. That means the fallback is activated and you should see “FV Player Pro: Preloading {video id} of video/fv-mp4 type” on console again
    6. This time it will play the second MPEG-DASH stream – on the network tab you should see m4s files coming in from 45skyfiregce-vimeo.akamaized.net or something similar, but not skyfire.vimeo.cdn
    7. If that also fails, you will see “FV Player Pro: MPEG-DASH error, retry 2!” and it will fallback to MP4 file as last resort

Please let us know if the fix worked.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello Sergio,

I apologize, I forgot to add that you have to be in the Beta mode to make the fix work.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

I have two videos on this page.

Both from Google Drive. From different Google Drive accounts.

    One of them works fine.

The other one, “html5: Video file not found”.

    Both videos are shareable.

So, why the second one is not working?

    Regards!

    Hello Patrick,

thank you for reaching out to us!

If you have access to both of the Google Drive accounts, make sure that both of the videos are set up in accordance with this guide: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/video-hosting-google

Let us know how it went and if anything was missing on your second video.

    Thanks,
