Flowplayer adds 5 blank minutes to end of some videos

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Flowplayer adds 5 blank minutes to end of some videos

  • philraymond 13 years, 1 month ago

My title says it all. The source video looks great, but flowplayer adds 5 minutes of nothingness onto the end. The plugin and WP are up to date.

This is in a private membership site, but I can email you guest access if you need it.

    Thanks very much,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,

we have never experienced such problem, and from this description it seems like there is something at the end, which, maybe the players on your computer are able to filter out. Please try to use another codec, to see it the additional minutes go away.

By “use another codec”, do you mean another WordPress plugin?

Or export my videos with another codec? I can’t do that because I have hundreds of videos.

I’ve tried this on different computers, so I don’t think it’s a problem with my computer. And it only happens with a few of the videos, not all of them. Very strange.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,

by use another codec I meant really another video codec, not another plugin. You can try that only with one video to check out what happens, you don’t have to convert all your videos.

It’s really hard to guess what can be wrong, but I would bet there’s something bug-like at the end of those videos, that’s why encoding it again might help.

Also the fact that it happens only on few of your hundreds of videos means that it doesn’t really have to do anything with Flowplayer, those few videos are just buggy.

Thanks very much, that worked! Actually, I didn’t even re-export – I just cut off a few frames from the end of the video with mpeg streamclip and that did it, for some reason I can’t understand at all.

    Thanks again,
    Phil
