How to have the player be displayed as Hero Video?

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › How to have the player be displayed as Hero Video?

  • Rene Villanueva 4 years, 9 months ago

    I would like to have the player automatically autoplay on load on my homepage. I want to have the player occupy the full width and height on screen something similar to a Hero type of Video Banner. My aim is that when the user visits my homepage all they see is the player with the video autoplaying and showing on the entire screen.

    Hello Rene,

    thank you for your question!

    In order to make the video autoplay, make sure you have “Autoplay” box checked in Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Post Interface Options. Now you will see the option to turn on autoplay in the shortcode editor of individual videos.

    Regarding the player size, open the shortcode editor of that video and change the size (width and height) of the player. You might have to play around with the size settings to make it fit just right. If you’d like to make all your videos this size, change the default size setting in Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Sitewide FV Player Defaults -> Default Video Size.

    Hello Rene,

    this largely depends on your page template. So the first goal would be to have a page template where the post content would show on the full screen.

    Then you could size the player to cover the full screen.

    You could also do this purely in CSS, but I wouldn’t recommend that. This code would set the player to appear in front of everything and cover the site header and footer as well:

    .flowplayer {
        position: absolute;
        top: 0;
        left: 0;
        z-index: 9999999;
        width: 100vw;
        height: 100vh;
        max-width: 100vw !important;
        max-height: 100vh !important;
    }

    Perhaps what you really need is to have the video autoplay in the lightbox: https://foliovision.com/player/basic-setup/using-lightbox

    While we do not support that autoplay currently, I see how it could be useful.

    Thanks,
    Martin
