We tested our live streams earlier this week, and could not get the player to load when using Restream.io.
Our workflow was:
Studio -> Restream (Passthrough) -> Azure Media Services (Transcode) -> Azure CDN -> PlayerThe behaviour is curious:
– At lower bitrates (2500) we see a long buffering period, then a black screen with a play button that doesn’t work
– At higher bitrates (4000-6000) it goes straight to the black screen
– When I stop the live stream at Azure, the player suddenly kicks in and plays around the last minute, like it’s playing something from the buffer?We can see the input stream and audience view fine in Azure, and the stream also plays fine in Bitmovin test player, but it won’t load in FV Player on our site.
We’d like to use Restream if at all possible, what we don’t understand is that going direct from the Studio to Azure works and loads fine at all bitrates. There is the freezing issue which I’ve posted separately, but the stream always loads first time.
Is there anything you think might be causing this?

it’s a strange issue, please start by checking if you checked the “Live stream” checkbox in the FV Player editor: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/hls#inserting-hls-to-fv-player

We no longer have access to Restream unfortunately, but I think we’ve learned that this happens when we are testing different bitrates.
I’m not sure where in the chain the problem is but I now make sure I stop and start the live stream, and generate new HLS endpoint URLs, and update the player. This way it seems to work fine at.
The Restream issue may remain, however we were messing around with different bitrates that night as well, so I suspect that’s the issue.
