    Hi,

Around yesterday, videos on my site started throwing this error:

html5 video loading aborted. Please use modern up-to-date browser like Firefox or Chrome

I’ve tried it on Safari (iOS), Chrome (desktop) and Firefox (desktop).

You can test this on the home page of https://www.teamsimmer.com/

I didn’t make any changes to the site or to the Vimeo videos yesterday.

Seems like the home page video is actually working intermittently. Here’s another video to test with: https://www.teamsimmer.com/checkout/query-ga4-data-in-google-big-query/bq-course-page/

    Hello Simo,

it seems there was some issue with handling of Vimeo privacy on January 23rd. The issue did not repeat since then.

Please let us know if you made any adjustments in the privacy settings
    of your videos on Vimeo.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Hi, we are experiencing the same issue today with a private video links.
    https://qdeck.com/bradley-j-rathe/
No privacy settings changes were made on Vimeo.
    Please advise.

    Hello Brad,

please, try picking “Hide from Vimeo” instead of “Private”. When the video is set to Private.

Let us know, if it helped.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hi Maria,
Thank you for a quick response. I’m still investigating but initial test shows that changing privacy setting did not make a difference. It’s still showing an error.

I added a separate video widget (below the FV player) to ‘https://qdeck.com/chris-englebert/’ page to show that the first video in the playlist is accessible and playing. FV Player still shows the error message. Seems like your video checker handles it incorrectly.
Vimeo privacy setting is “Unlisted” (access with the link) and embedding includes my domain.

    Hello Brad,

I apologize for the late reply.

Please try disable Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Hosting -> Vimeo -> Turbocharge Ajax Vimeo Loading.

Let me know, if it helped.

    Thanks,
    Maria

It did not help. There is something inconsistent in the latest video loading. Some videos in the list do play just fine but others. They all have the same privacy settings.

    Thanks

    Hello Brad,

we are currently working on an issue that behaves quite the same, as you are describing. However, I went over to your page to check it yet again and all the videos on both test pages played just fine for me this time.

Please, if you face this issue yet again, open your browser developer console (here’s how https://foliovision.com/player/troubleshooting/javascript-browser-console), then try to load the page with the video again and see, if any error appears on the console. Look especially for 403 errors connected to fv player.

    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hi Maria,

Thank you for checking again. The issue was resolved on Friday.
I’m not sure if anything changed on your side or Vimeo. There is no error after I changed video privacy settings to “Hide from Vimeo” and re-posted FV shortcodes.

    Regards

    Hi,

It looks like the issue is back.
    https://qdeck.com/bradley-j-rathe/

    Thanks

    Hello Brad,

I found the issue occurs when you come to the website for the first time, play a Vimeo video, switch the quality and go to the next playlist item.

Please reinstall FV Player from this link to get the fixed version: https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/master.zip

To do that you will have to first deactivate and delete the current FV Player plugin you are using. WordPress will warn you that you might loose settings and data, but it’s not the case with our plugin, no settings now videos will be lost. Or you can just replace the plugin files via FTP.

    Thanks,
    Martin
