Hello, I’ve had a few users report to me that they’re getting “html5: Video file not found” using Chrome. I’ve tested it myself and the videos work fine using Firefox/Edge on Desktop, and it also works fine using Firefox/Chrome on mobile, however using Chrome on Desktop gives me the error.
I’ve used the admin video checker and it told me I should use https for the link to the video as well, as my site is using https, but that didn’t make a difference unfortunately. I’ve also tried disabling Autoptimize and deleted the cache, but again, didn’t do anything.
Any idea what might be the problem here? Seems to be only happening on Desktop while using Chrome for some reason, so it might just be an issue with them?

Thanks for letting us know about the issues and providing us so much information.
Do you have video preloading option enabled? Perhaps your system info could really help us. Can you please send it to us? You can find it at:
WP Admin Dashboard -> Settings -> FV Player -> Tools -> System infoSimply copy the info into your reply.

I’m not sure where to enable video preloading so if it’s off by default then I don’t think so.

I did had a quick look. The first video played for me both on Firefox and Chrome on Windows 7. What operating system are you using? I wonder if Chrome has some difficulties with some MP4 files on some OS. Then our video checker should be warning you about that.
The second video didn’t play as the SSL certificate on the 3rd party website where it’s loading from is incorrect. Or there might be no SSL on it, if you just changed the link to https:// and the site actually doesn’t have SSL enabled.
I would recommend you use some reliable CDN for your videos, as linking to other websites can cause issues.

Yea it only appears to happen using the combination of Chrome and Windows 10 for some reason. With the video checker the only warning is about the video not being linked using HTTPS, but I get the same warning using Win10+Firefox/Edge and it’s working fine there

so the suggestion remains – I could be using a CDN for your videos, as linking to other websites can cause issues. Or at least host these videos on your own website and double-check your web host doesn’t mind that. Some hosts with cheaper hosting plans might not like it.
