FV Player Pro now includes a feature to change which video qualities are available for your viewers.
It works for the FV Player Coconut users or anybody posting HLS stream with URL tokens to increase the video download protection using FV Player Pro Stream Loader feature.
Here’s how to find the setting:
-
Go to wp-admin -> FV Player -> Settings -> Stream Loader.
-
Enable “Limit Video Quality”
This new settings works without you having to re-encode the video files. You can encode your videos at the 4K video quality and then experiment with making it available to the users on desktop and mobile.
It of course does not let you serve video at a higher resolution than it was initially encoded for.
Stay tuned for more
We work on FV Player every day, enhancing functionality and extending compatibility. We love to hear your thoughts in the comments here or on our free video forum!

Hello, this is a very interesting feature, could you let us know, what is happening behind the scenes? Where and how is the trans-coding happening? Does it happen once, or every time a video quality other than the original is requested? Where are the encoded files stored? Will there be extra costs, for example, when using AWS? Thank you for always pushing this amazing player forward to the next level!
Hello Michael,
With this feature we simply control which video qualities show up in the HLS m3u8 file. So once you have your video as a HLS stream it does not involve any trans-coding or additional cost.
Easy way of creating the HLS streams is with FV Player Coconut, but it will work if you use AWS too.
Thanks, Martin
