    Thanks Alec.

I’ll try to resolve the issue on my own (by trying various other transcodes), and if I can’t I will take you up on this. I’m curious why the same Lightworks encoder that generated the other two videos on the page play ok, but the one in question that shows this error doesn’t.

    Katie

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for your answer. I think the issue really is in local congestion due to the rural connection.

I take it from your answer that it is also not possible to extend the streaming buffer?

The extended buffer (up to the whole video) would enable those suffering from bad internet connectivity to have a workable alternate solution (ie. waiting for it to load, and then watching it in full when loaded).

    Katie

    Hi Alec,

Yes … go to http://www.katiesuzukimusic.com and play the landing page video.

All videos are hosted on Amazon AWS, hosted on the Asia Pacific (Sydney) server, serving to New Zealand.

Video was compiled to MP4 format using Lightworks video editor on the standard YouTube 480p and 720p outputs which I know work really well – however the 480p video has a 3.5Mbps bit rate, and the client lives rurally and has congestion issues and may be experiencing less than this minimum bitrate. They are ok with waiting as they are used to patchy internet, however they would rather not have to watch-wait-watch-wait etc.

The entire site is built with videos on these formats for teaching music. So I don’t really want to reduce the resolution or bitrate much more than the 480p format that I’m using.

    Thanks for your help!

    Regards,
    Katie

Are you using any special way of altering the website domain, such as configuring it in wp-config.php rather than altering the database entries?

Not to my knowledge, but I’m pretty new to web development so I can’t say this is for sure. Let me know how I would be able to tell, or what information I can get for you to answer this question. I’m happy to also give you access to the site if you wish to have a look at the back end.

    Thanks for your reply Martin.

Practically speaking – please try to re-save the plugin settings and that should fix the issue.

If by this you mean go to the settings page and click “Save all changes” button/s … then unfortunately no, this didn’t do the trick.

If that won’t help you can use Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Integrations/Compatibility -> “Disable saving skin CSS to a static file”, but that is really a last resort.

This DID work! … and when I clicked disabable OFF again, the same trouble appeared, and disable ON again and the icons were appearing correctly. Is it safe to leave this disabled?

I have just flicked over to the Beta version, and the problem goes away!

Ah … I think this setting was causing the problem:
    [shortcode_editor_old] => true

    This is now resolved!
