9 months ago in reply to: Video and Captioned Translations on AWS
Hi Martin,
My challenge was to put subtitles in some our videos with a Spanish translation of the spoken English in the video. This is the solution I came up with. If you have suggestions about how to improve this workflow please feel free to share.
The source video (English) is in an AWS bucket. I use Amazon Transcribe to first create a transcription file (vtt), and download that transcription to my desktop. I then use Google Translate to create a Spanish translation file (vtt) from the transcription file.
Copying the URL of the video on AWS, I add a new video in FV Player. In the SUBTITLES tab, I upload the Spanish translation vtt file.
I started my learning curve watching Amazon’s tutorial about creating a transcription and while I could get the video and translation to work together in VLC, I couldn’t quite figure out how to do this in AWS.
Once I read through the FVPlayer tutorial l had a clear idea about what needed to be done.
Here is the Amazon tutorial: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/transcribe/latest/dg/subtitles.html
Thank you,
John

I was making this more complicated than necessary.
I found the answer in the FV Player Documentation.https://foliovision.com/player/features/accessibility/interactive-video-transcript#appearance
Thanks!

I found the problem and solution.
WP Engine is our host and I had upgraded to PHP 8.0 a few days ago.
Downgraded to PHP 7.4, cleared server caches, and all videos work again.
Thanks!

3 years ago in reply to: FV Video Checker – Access Denied ErrorHi Martin,
I see the problem. I had the wrong permission attached. It should be an S3 not app flow. I’ve made the correction and everything works perfectly. Thank you for your patient guidance.
One other question. IN AWS > IAM users, do you know what the red triangle with the exclamation mark means?
Thanks,
John

Here is a screenshot of the permission policy attached to the user.

3 years ago in reply to: FV Video Checker – Access Denied ErrorThank you, Maria, Thank you, Martin.
I’m not doing any live streaming, only uploading optimized videos to an S3 Bucket.
I double-checked my access keys and as far as I can tell they’re alright.
In the public access settings for the top-level bucket, if all options are checked, the videos will not play.
If the second option is unchecked, then the videos will play. (See attached screenshot) What do you think?
Thank you,
John

Amazon S3: Access Denied
3 years ago in reply to: Player freezingHi Martin:
I just checked the “block all public access” in the top-level S3 bucket that holds all our videos. I think that did the trick. The videos that were freezing are now playing. Here is a screenshot of where clicked that permission checkbox.

Is this what you wanted me to do?
Thank you,

3 years ago in reply to: Player freezingWith respect to tokens, I’m looking at this page in the FVP knowledge base. https://bit.ly/38T9B5I
I am not using Streamloader, FV Player Coconut, or Cloudfront.
My workflow has been to upload videos directly to the appropriate S3 account bucket, then copy the video URL into FVPlayer when I add a video.
Thanks!

Thank you for helping me sort this out.
“it appears that the issue occurs as the video file has the public access without S3 token enabled.”
Did you make that video publicly available on that https://or…os.s3.amazonaws.com/sales_page_videos/OR….21.mp4 URL on purpose? This seems to be my lack of understanding of how to configure the Amazon settings and the S3 token. The goal is to protect the videos, but I thought they had to be made public to be viewable on the site. What do I need to do here? Do I need to enable the S3 token and how/where do I do that? On the S3 account? In FV Player settings?Does the public access setting on the videos need to be changed, and to what access level should they be set?I there anything else you suggest I do?
Thank you again,
John3 years ago in reply to: Player freezingHi Martin,
When I clicked the play button, the video would play for 2-3 seconds and then freeze. If I advanced the video manually, it still would not play. If the page was refreshed it still would not play. I checked the video in AWS and it played fine, within AWS.
This behavior continued for three days, until yesterday and it now plays. I can’t explain it.
You can link to the page with the video here.
Thank you for getting back to me.
Regards,
John
3 years ago in reply to: Player freezingHi Maria,
Thank you for getting back to me.
Yes, the video on this page is playing now.
This was the only page where the video was not playing properly, that I know of.
Yesterday I went to the AWS S3 account and played the clip there without trouble. I then checked that the URL copied to FV Player was the correct one, which it is.
I can’t explain it. There must be a ghost in the machine. :)
I’ll get back in touch if I have any more trouble.
Regards,
John
3 years ago in reply to: Player freezingI remember I’ve had this issue before. I do have the Amazon S3 Ajax Pro Box checked in FVplayer > Settings > hosting tab.

Here is another experiment that has bween replicated on our end three times.
• Login to the site.
• Go to the basic course page: …
• Play the first video to minute 2:30 and pause.
• Wait 15 minutes.
• Go back to that same page, scroll to the last video (the little saiboat) and click on that video. You should see the prohibit sign and the video will not play.- This reply was modified 1 year, 2 months ago by Martin.
4 years ago in reply to: Videos FreezingUpdate: Videos are still freezing and showing the circle with the slash as in the screenshot shown above.
4 years ago in reply to: Videos FreezingIt looks like I don’t have the MIME type set in the S3 bucket.
Is this how it’s done?
Amazon S3 > Bucket Name > Properties > Tags > +Add tag ( KEY: Content-Type VALUE: video/mp4
4 years ago in reply to: Videos FreezingOn some videos the video stops and the following error message appears:
Video File Expired
