FV Video Checker – Access Denied Error

    Hi,

    I have an AMAZON S3 bucket set to ‘Block All Public Access.’

    I’ve created a new user for the bucket including an access key and secret key.

    I have uploaded objects to this bucket.

    On FVPlayer > Hosting > Amazon S3 Protected content section I’ve checked ‘Force the default expiration time’ and ‘Amazon S3 Ajax (Pro)’

    I’ve entered the bucket name, Region, Keys (Access and Secret).

    Videos added to FV player pro from this Amazon bucket are throwing the error: Amazon S3: Access Denied.

    What am I missing?

    PS: I had to temporarily set the bucket to public.
    PPS: Caching is handled by the host: WPEngine.

    please, also check if you have correctly set up CORS headers on your bucket: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/how-to-enable-cors-headers#cors-in-amazon-s3

    Hello John,

    CORS would only be required for HLS videos.

    Please let us know if you are able to play the video. If not, then the issue could be with your AWS access key – see the first 7 steps here: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/secure-amazon-s3-guide#keys

    I see you are not able to play these videos, you mentioned that earlier.

    In that case please check the file permissions on AWS S3. This part of our guide will help you find it: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/secure-amazon-s3-guide#managing-access-permissions

    Thank you, Maria, Thank you, Martin.

    I’m not doing any live streaming, only uploading optimized videos to an S3 Bucket.

    I double-checked my access keys and as far as I can tell they’re alright.

    In the public access settings for the top-level bucket, if all options are checked, the videos will not play.

    If the second option is unchecked, then the videos will play. (See attached screenshot) What do you think?

    Hello John,

    what about step 4. of “Obtaining the AWS Access Keys” in https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/secure-amazon-s3-guide#managing-access-permissions ? In the proper policy attached to the user?

    Hi Martin,

    I see the problem. I had the wrong permission attached. It should be an S3 not app flow. I’ve made the correction and everything works perfectly. Thank you for your patient guidance.

    One other question. IN AWS > IAM users, do you know what the red triangle with the exclamation mark means?

    Hello John,

    we are glad to see your issue got solved.

    As for your other question, it is recommended that the access key get refreshed in approx. 90 day intervals.

    The red symbols are simply warning you that the age of your access keys exceeded the recommended amount of days. For keys only slightly exceeding the recommended amount, orange symbols are displayed.
