I have the latest version of FV WordPress Flowplayer, but it does not work on the iphone. When I view the page on an iphone the videos don’t show a play button, and when I tap the video nothing happens. I also have videos with splash images. The splash images show on the iphone, but again no play button and tapping the image does nothing. My layout is also throw off on the iphone. It looks like the video and splash images are not being put into a flowplayer_container class.

we have iPod Touch available for testing, and we’re not able to replicate your problem. Could you maybe post the link to the video here, also which version of iPhone do you own?

I have an iphone 3gs running IOS4. I’ve also tried it on the Iphone simulator that’s part of the xcode tools.

we’re running IOS4 as well, and we haven’t encountered the issues you’re describing.
However I have several notes to your video. First of all, the video has almost 500MB. This is way too huge for an iPhone. We haven’t been able to play the video, it always started to load but then the whole browser crashed.Also for your site the video is too big, you should consider making it smaller.
My last advice is: do not use whitespaces in your filenames, you may run into troubles on some servers.
Regarding your broken layout, when the video is displayed on an mobile device, there’s no flowplayer_container class. Only simple html5 video tag is being used, hence your broken layout. Open your site for example in Safari, switch the user agent to iphone and check the sourcecode to see the html tags used.
As far as the video is so huge, it took some time until the play button appeared for us.
Please consider making your video smaller and you might be able to play your video on an iPhone.

Hi, I’m new at this so hopefully I’m allowed to chime in this thread. WE LOVE THE PLAYER!!!
I have same problem as Ryan however my videos are NOT large and the problem is RANDOM. As seen here, http://example.com/home/watch/ first video shows no play button and the others do. Identical encoding process throughout. Identical embedding coding as well.
We have other WordPress websites with the same odd, random occurrences. We’ve moved files to different servers, roots, etc and related to mobile viewing, its sort of crap shoot if the PLAY BUTTON will appear. You only know after launching the page and having a look.
When the button is there, its stable, reliable and always there. When its not viewable, it never appears yet the splash always appears. Thanks!

Does that mean you actually do see a play button on ALL four videos on that page (using iphone 3Gs) I referenced or not? If no, the player has an iphone/mobile issue. Certainly something you might want to care about.
All I’m getting clearly from this SUPPORT is “don’t post the link again.” That much is understood. So, here’s a complete other website/link with the same problem when viewed on iphone 3Gs. http://example.com/home/ptv-webisodes/
The first clip (amy winehouse) is flowplayer. Works great in desktop browser but NO PLAY BUTTON over mobile. Any clue?

yes we checked the previous website as well as this new one, and we could see all play buttons exactly where they should be. We’re testing the websites on iPad and iPod Touch.

Alright then. Thanks for the prompt response. We are in Germany. I’ll have to assume and hope the inconsistency is limited to our personal devices then. Though strange as it may be.

We’re also having problems with Flowplayer not playing on some iPads and some iPhones, however the issue seems to be random. I’m able to see exactly the same video on the iPad but not on my iPhone. Both have the OS5 operating system installed.
Then others in my group cannot see some of the videos on the iPad and some they can.

videos not playing on iphone
I have a post with an mp4 video. It plays fine on the Mac, PC, Ipad, but not the iphone 4s. I see the poster image and the play button but nothing a happens when I press the play button on the iphone 4s.
Part of the mystory is solved.
It will not play on my iphone if I have the mobile plugin installed.
The mobile plugin allows for the site to be resized for mobile devices.I changed my theme on the mobile plug and it worked.
Other then it does not scale the image and I have have fit scaling on.

if the image is not being scaled properly, I would guess there is some CSS conflict with your template.
