"Video Issues" error message

    Hello, spoke with Eduard and he asked that I post a request here.

    Our videos are not playing instead you receive an “Admin: Video Issues” error message. Using WordPress 4.8.2, FV Player Pro, videos are hosted on AWS Cloudfront. Theme is from Rockettheme.com and runs Gantry 4 as a theming engine.

    Suggestions?

    Hello Joe,

    when I open your video link directly it won’t open. It just hangs on the “Establishing secure connection” part. So it seems to me the SSL is not working for https://video.ies.org Are you sure it’s setup properly? You can check the step 9 here: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/serving-private-cloudfront#cloudfront -> “Now you can enter your domain which you will point to your CloudFront domain”. However our instructions don’t cover SSL.

    The player also doesn’t appear properly once the video is played. It looks as if the player HTML div element is replaced with some other HTML. Does this also happen if you switch to a default WordPress theme such as Twenty Sixteen or Twenty Seventeen?

    we can play unsigned videos OK- this CF distribution is setup without
    requiring signed urls:

    s22y4h6b80wfvg.cloudfront.net

    video:
    071317-ies-bootcamp.mp4

    so it seems the signed urls are the issue

    in the FV guide, it shows setting up both a cloudfront WEB distribution and also RTMP distribution. I was under the impression it was a choice of one or the other. do we need to set up both? (I chose RTMP for streaming) – RTMP cloudfront does not have a setting for using https.

    also are we required to open port 1935 on the www server where the FV
    Player is installed? or does FV use RTMPE protocol to tunnel to port 80?

    Hello Michael,

    You don’t need to open the 1935 port anywhere. It’s your browser’s Flash engine that connects to that. RTMPE is actually an encrypted RTMP and RTMPT is the tunneled protocol which is supported.

    You don’t need to set up both, but as said, RTMP is available only in Flash, which makes the content harder to download, but also incompatible with the majority of mobile devices.
