Use of FV on Root and Sub Domains?

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Use of FV on Root and Sub Domains?

  • dplum 8 years, 1 month ago

I’m new to use of FV, and so my question / problem may be easily solved / explained.

I have assign a domain to my FV Pro Player — let’s call it xyz.com
I have installed the FV Pro on a subdomain — let’s call it sub.xyz.com
And the player is working on that subdomain.

I’m now trying to install the player again on the root domain xyz.com
However, when I enter the same Domain License Key given to me at the time I assigned xyz.com to the plugin the “Apply Pro upgrade” button is not changing color to yellow or green. It’s still reddish and it’s been about 1 hour since apply the Key.

    So my question is:
    1. Does my Key for xyz.com enable me to install FV in it’s Root area, as well as all Subdomains of this root domain?
    2. How long should it take to get the “Apply Pro upgrade” to become activated?

OK, after searching I found this License info https://www.screencast.com/t/6aJBcJioD

So the plugin should be valid on both root and subdomains. However, for some reason after activating it on the subdomain, it’s not activating on the root domain.

    Any ideas why?

    OK — Problem Resolved.

I was using the “Domain Key” associated with the registration of my domain. And trying to apply that key was not working.

So then I tried using the “Purchase Key” and guess what — I’m not updated with the Pro version.

A suggestion for FV would be to show next to the box when the Purchase Key needs to be pasted that that is what needs to be pasted.

    Hello Dennis,

You said that the Domain Key didn’t work, so you had to use the Purchase Key. By the domain key you mean the one you can find next to your license in https://foliovision.com/my-licenses (like in this example http://screenshots.foliovision.com/1H0S1m3o1e25)?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

Yes, I used the domain key at the link given, and that obviously caused me to go nowhere in terms of getting updated to Pro.

    I cannot see anything at http://screenshots.foliovision.com/1H0S1m3o1e25 — it’s a blank screen.

    Hi Dennis,

That seems strange, as the domain key (I added the screenshot as an attachment to this post) is the right key. Could you please send me the key you are using in your root domain installation (the Purchase Key that worked for you)? You can use this service – https://revealit.me/ – it will create an encrypted message that will delete after opening, so no one in the forum will be able to read it afterward.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Eduard,
I’m very sorry, I must have been looking at the subdomain FV page when I thought it was the Root domain page.

In my attempt to use the Domain Key (not the Purchase key) the Root domain is still not updating to PRO. The subdomain definitely has updated using the Domain key. However, the root domain does not respond by updating it to Pro.

Can you suggest what else I might do?

    Here’s a secret message showing what I see https://revealit.me/6b780f37ca

I just noticed that the Subdomain has not yet been updated to WordPress version 4.9.1 whereas the Root domain must already be updated to that version.

Could the problem be that your Upgrade processing is not compatible with version 4.9.1????

OK — Now it’s upgrade — I click “Save All Changes” on one of teh Hosting area settings and then the “Pro pack Installed” appeared.

So it is necessary to click “Save All Changes” to make it work?

    Hello Dennis,

I’m glad it works now. We’ll look into the issue with the necessity of using the “Save All Changes” button, so thanks for bringing this up to our attention.

    Thanks,
    Eduard
