I downloaded your plugin locally – but videos won’t play. i included full url in the src:
[flowplayer src=http://localhost/wp/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/example.flv, width=640, height=280]– but when i view the post – it is just a grey box with no controls. what am i doing wrong?Michael

Hi Michael,
FV WordPress Flowplayer calls some javascript from the footer. That means your footer.php file must contain the <?php wp_footer(); ?> WordPress hook. Almost all themes do this out of the box, but if you’ve customised your theme there’s a chance that you might have deleted this call.

Like @Michael above, I too get a black box. Checking the source I see the player movie is not being loaded. The embed tag’s src attribute looks like this: src=”PLAYER”.
OK I worked it out. In my theme I was fiddling with post content before wp_head() was called. Thus flowplayer_head() was being called after the shortcode was processed. The PLAYER const is set in the flowplayer_head function. Maybe you need a check to make sure flowplayer_head is always run before the shortcode is processed and not rely on wp_head to do setup stuff.
Also, in view/wizard.php line #1 uses a shortcode, if you have shortcodes disabled it’s not pretty.

Thanks for the tip about shortcodes. We should put something defensive in there. We’ll try to throw a visible error message if wp_head is not properly setup.
On the other hand, we will continue to anticipate wp_head and a footer file and the rest of the accoutrements of a properly configured theme file. Once one decides to support every possible mutilation of WordPress good coding practices, it’s a steep slope downhill to code spaghetti and total incompatibility for all of us between all plugins. I.e. welcome to Linux distribution fracturing.

I’m having difficulties displaying my video on my home page. A grey box appears, however, the video is not playing at all. The code I’m using is:

What am I doing wrong? It works perfectly on my other sites.

there might be some javascript conflict maybe, it’s hard to say without seeing. Or maybe you have the folder where is the video stored protected? .. When I try to access the video directly I can’t.
Last point, but that cannot be the cause, we don’t have alt attribute in our shortcode.
