Lost license and symbols after the upgrade

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Lost license and symbols after the upgrade

  • Pavel 9 years, 9 months ago

Hi, I have just upgraded to the latest version – 6.0.3. My site lost license (flowplayer logo appeared, and the symbols for play/stop and others are not available. Simply not visible on IE or there is a square instead in FF. Need to solve quickly (see my licensed website).

    Thanks, Pavel.

    Hello Pavel,

sorry about that, FV WordPress Flowplayer 6.0.3.1 was released. It will fix the issue.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hey Martin,

thanks for quick fix. Still, the buttons are not visible when using CDN. Previous version was ok with CDN. Would you have a solution? Excluding some files from CDN perhaps?

    Thanks,
    Pavel.

    Hello Pavel,

looks like the problem is with cross-domain access control. Your site is at http://www.domain.cz, your CDN is cdn.domain.cz. Based on CSS3 and HTML5 specs not all the resources can be shared between domains.

So you need to set the following on your CDN for web fonts (woff, eot, ttf, svg):

    Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *

Or you can allow your domain only (but in that case it might be good to also allow it with https):

    Access-Control-Allow-Origin: http://www.domain.cz

Or you can exclude wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/css/flowplayer.css from CDN.

    Thanks,
    Martin

Great notes, Martin. Let’s put up a CDN documentation page (incomplete for now but with at least what we know so far).

    Thanks!

    Thanks, Marin, will do.

Please create the CDN doc. With a video site, you get to CDN cravings very quickly. Pavel.

    Hello Pavel,

I put up instructions for this into the FAQ: https://foliovision.com/player/faq#player-buttons-there-square-symbols

Let us know what CDN you use, perhaps there is a step-by-step guide directly from your provider.

    Thanks,
    Martin

It is CND77. I use also cacheFly for other projects so will be solving the issue there too. The I sent the request to CDN77 support but found this in the meantime: https://client.cdn77.com/support/knowledgebase/cdn-resource/firefox-not-loading-cross-domain-name-fonts

Just implemented, does not seem to work for us.
    Pavel.

Excluding flowplayer.css from CDN works so I will stick with this in the meantime.

    Hello Pavel,

I checked HTTP headers of one of your fonts:

    http://cdn.your-domain.cz/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/css/fonts/fpicons.woff?yg5dv7

I can see the required headers:

    Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *

So perhaps this has a matter of waiting a bit until the CDN updates and you can remove flowplayer.css from exclusion.

    Thanks,
    Martin
