    Hello!

I need help, please. I set the default video size to 1280x720px (on the plugins options page). I also created three video qualities (in this order):
    HD 1080p, HD 720p, SD 480p

All three videos (1080p, 720p, 480p) have been uploaded via WordPress to the media library. To insert the video on the page I used the fv Player button. In the popup window I set the 720p version as the main video and checked the Quality Switching option.

The problem is, that when I view the page with the video, the default video is not the 720p version, it’s the 1080p. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hello Gerald,

You can change the order in which they appear by using drag & drop in the Quality Switching settings box in Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Setup tab. You will need to click in the blank area on the right side of the table.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

Ok I tried that. And the video started with the Quality Option I put first.
But that means, regardless what video I set in the Shortcut on the page, it will always use the Quality Switching order. Is that right?

So if I set the 720p video as main video in the shortcode but put the 480p quality first at the options page, it will display the 480p version on the page…

    Hello Gerald,

Yes, that’s how it works. However, this works mainly on the first viewing of the video, because if the user switches quality to something else, the information will store in a cookie and the user will see all other videos load with this quality. If he switches again, the cookie updates and the same thing will happen again.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hello,

I have a new problem regarding this topic so I post it right here and don’t open a new ticket. I hope thats ok?

My problem is, that the default ordering of the quality switch does not work. On the options page it is set like that:

    Name
    -hd-720p
    -sd-480p
    Label
    HD 720p
    SD 480p

So the HD quality is first and should be loaded on default by the videos, but that does not work. On the first load the user get the SD video. If he switches to HD everything works fine and his choice is saved in the cookie. Have you any idea what the problem could be?

    Kind regards,
    Robert

    Hello Gerald,

It’s in your WordPress back-end at:

Settings -> FV Player Pro -> Tools -> System info

(as you can see in the screenshot)

    Thanks,
    Juraj

Sorry, but I don’t have a “Tools” tab there (see screenshot).
But my client is using this version:
    FV Player v6.6.6
    FV Player Pro v6.6.7

    Hello Gerald,

    Sorry for the late answer.

Can you send us the screenshot of the quality switching settings?

Also, is there any certain purpose why you don’t keep fv player updated?

    Thanks for the info,
    Juraj

    Gerald 5 years ago

    Sure, screenshot is attached.

We havn’t updated the plugin because of two reasons:
    1) there are over 200 videos on the website and it’s impossible to convert all of them by hand to the new shortcode version
    2) our client does not like the fact, that inside the shortcode he is not able to see which video it represents (it’s only the ID instead of the URL)

But it is definitely a our goal as the webdev agency to convince them to change.

    I forgot the screenshot, sorry.

    Hello Gerald,

    Thanks for all the info.

    1. Our player has a built-in tool that allows you to conveniently convert the old video tags to the new shortcodes.

    2. You can see the video and change all it’s settings when you click into the shortcode and then open our fv player editor directly in the post.

Thanks for the screenshot. Can you also please provide us a link to your website so we can check the scripts? Thanks.

    Hello Juraj,

as I said, we will look into the new version and try to convince our client to update.

Because of high security criteria, I need a static IP address to grant you access to the backend of the website. Can you provide such?

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hello Gerald,

    Sorry for misleading answer.

I was asking just for a link to your website with video embedded on it. If you want us to log into your website’s back-end you need to order a Pro support incident.

    Thanks for understanding,
    Juraj

    Hello Juraj,

    I’m sorry for the confusion.

Because all videos are for registered users only, you need to login nevertheless. But you can use one of our test accounts. How should I send you the login credentials?

    Thanks,
    Robert
