New to this plugin.
Hosting video on AmazonS3
Specified and uploaded splash image to show when video is not playing.
All I see is black screen with play button.
Video plays OK as expected with all controls.What am I doing wrong? How do I get the static image to display instead of the black screen?

Should have pasted short code I’m using:

Also using the WP video short code, with the same video, a splash image is displayed:

I tested your FV Player shortcode and it showed the splash image for me when the video was not playing. Could you send me a link to the page where you are experiencing this?
As for the [video] tag – it preloads a part of the video along with it’s metadata and uses it as a splash image, but that is not loaded as a picture, but shown only through a browser. Not all browsers support this, for instance, you won’t get any splash image this way in Safari on any Apple device, or for instance on all Android devices with OS older than version 6. Therefore it’s more reliable to load an actual image, which is of course shown on all devices and browsers.

So sorry, turns out that it was another plugin that was stopping it showing. I assumed that I hadn’t set up the splash image correctly and missed the obvious.

I just downloaded Splash (Dec. 2023) and it worked for about ten minutes. Then it displayed a static (start of video) image while footage counter (and thumbnails) displayed normal progress, but no image (black screen only). I uninstalled/reinstalled and tried a plethora of Settings; no luck.
I quite like Splash so i really want to fix this glitch.

I’m not sure why would the splash image only show for 10 minutes. What kind of video are you using? Please let us a test page where we can see the issue.
