Timeline Previews in FV Player Pro

Just noticed that there is a timeline preview in beta, this is cool! Can you clarify how it should work? I entered some data in the settings 10 columns, interval 1 and 40 by 22 width and height but nothing seems to appear neither for S3 nor for YouTube hosting. Thanks!

Hello Kristin,

at this point it’s there to serve our upcoming FV Player Coconut plugin. With that plugin you pick your video from your Amazon S3 or DigitalOcean Spaces bucket and have it encoded, encrypted and stored in the bucket of your choice, all in single step. It also generates these timeline previews.

But we will have a look if other video encoding services could create the timeline previews in the same format.

I would love to know a bit more how the timeline previews work. Can I generate the thumbnails myself and upload them to my cloud storage?

Hello Marc,

we are switching from using PNG-based thumbnails with fixed dimensions and intervals to VTT thumbnails which are much more robust. That will improve the way this feature works in FV Player Coconut.

We are also thinking about creating a service for the video thumbnails.
