Replace Featured Image with Video

Is it possible to put a video into the featured image block so that it appears (and is included in category searches etc) just like a featured image, but plays just like normal video?

Hello Andy,

if you know PHP or have a developer working on your website, it’s possible to do this if you use the post_thumbnail_html filter.

However I’m not sure if we would like to have this function available in the core of our plugin as it could lead to different display issues as different templates might be using different techniques to style the featured image.
