Integration with RCP

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Integration with RCP

    Hi,

I understand Pay Per View is a separate add-on, however on the core Pro settings there is a section that apparently integrates with RCP.

I cannot find documentation about that feature. Can you please advise how it works, what it does?

    Regards

    Hi Andrew,

Yes. As you said, although we have separate Pay per View add-on, there is still a RCP feature in the FV Player Pro core.

The problem is, that the feature supporting RCP in the FV Player Pro core is very out-dated and we are going to delete it in close future. That’s the reason why we don’t recommend using it at this state.

On the other hand, with the new Pay Per View add-on we’ve switched from RCP to EDD(Easy digital downloads) cause of their overall better pricing model(RCP is most of the time used to sell membership and EDD is developed for selling “products”. That’s the reason why EDD is much more convenient for selling video), user experience and much better integration with their own WordPress plugin.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

    Hi Andrew,

Juraj is not quite right here. I’m the original plugin creator. What is correct is that we recommend EDD for Pay Per View over RCP. We did have a PPV RCP setup at one point as we really like RCP but found it was a bit counter-intuitive in the long run to manage.

FV Player still integrates with RCP for membership sites and it’s brilliant for that. We set up full membership sites as a service, including RCP licensing within the price.

We have an EDD/WooCommerce module on the drawing board for PPV but it’s not ready yet for simple download and installs. Customers are using it actively when we’ve set it up for them. PPV custom setup is $500 right now with us both installing and troubleshooting the feature on your site.

Let me know if you would like our team to set up PPV for your site.

    Thanks, Alec

    Hi Alec,

Thanks for the clarification. I already have RCP setup and I would love to learn how exactly FV integrates. I can see it lists my membership levels, but there is no documentation, what happens then?

If I choose one level or no levels or all levels? Can you elaborate how the integration works?

    Many thanks Alec.

    Hello Andrew,

Restrict Content Pro (RCP) lets you set the membership restrictions for each post and you can also use [is_padi] shortcode in the post content to tell which part of it is for members only. FV Player works just fine with that.

The additional RCP integration in FV Player Pro basically let you show a link to the RCP signup form in a popup over the video. Once purchased it would show a message of how much time do you have left to watch the full video and also a full list of your video rentals.

As EDD works well alongside RCP, FV Player Pay Per View has no issues with it either. You can built a website where you purchase a membership (through RCP) to get access to all the videos or where you purchase individual videos (FV Player Pay Per View + EDD) as needed and it all works together.

    Thanks,
    Martin
