How can we add a vimeo channel?

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › How can we add a vimeo channel?

Instructions say to create a shortcode with the Vimeo channel URL and replace the src=”” parameter with channel=””

How do we do this when the code is replaced by the FV player short code?

I tried copy/pasting the example shortcode but nothing shows up on my frontend page :(

    Hi William,

    Sorry for the late response.

If you mean replacing the video source tag for [fv_player id=”xx”](you can see the form in the first screenshot). You need to use our fv player short-code editor, which you can find by clicking on the FV Player button in your WordPress post(second screenshot).

This way the source url of the video will be replaced by FV Player video database id.

    Thanks,
    Juraj

Thanks for getting back but I’m not sure how this helps with adding a vimeo channel?

    Hello William,

we didn’t adjust the new FV Player Editor which works with database to work with Vimeo Channels or Albums, so for now you have to just use the shortcodes as illustrated in https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/how-to-use-vimeo#adding-video-channel

    [fvplayer channel="https://vimeo.com/channels/musicvideoland"]

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hi William,

The reason Vimeo is still based on a shortcode is that maintaining a database in two places is quite inefficient. It makes more sense to just pull the whole channel or album in and maintain it (including screenshots) in Vimeo.

We’re very open to improving our Vimeo integration so if you run into any issues, just give us a holler.

    Thanks, Alec

Thanks for sharing the solution back with us. We’ll update our documentation to reflect the new Vimeo conventions.

We could consider importing existing Vimeo tags with videos. They would be non-editable within your website though (syncing is unreliable and always a huge time sink).

Sure to the playlist taxonomy but not to Vimeo channels/showcases as that playlist is maintained externally. We are only fetching the data via API and embedding it in our player, not storing it in our own database.
