Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › How can I delete Subtitle Language tracks
-
The player adds a blank language track above my existing languages – and when I remove the url for a language in one of the other tracks, despite getting a “Saved” notification, the next time I go to “Subtitles” in that player, it has replaced the url !!
There doesn’t appear to be any way to delete languages.

Hello Gillian,
here’s the issue which Maria was having:
What I did to reproduce it:
- Created new FV Player
- Inserted several languages
- Saved the player
- Reopen it
That’s all. Once reopened, it puts a extra language field above the ones inserted.
I’m attaching a screenshot too.
However that doesn’t seem to be the issue you are having.
You mentioned that once you try to remove one of the languages and it says it saved, it’s not actually saved properly – once you open the player for editing again and go to check the subtitles, the language which you removed is still there.
Thanks,
MartinHello Gillian,
I did my own test:
- started a new FV Player
- added 4 subtitles to it (screenshot attached)
- removed one of the subtitles by making the field blank (screenshot attached)
- closed the editor
- opened the editor for the player again
- saw that the subtitle which I removed was indeed removed (screenshot attached)
So I was not able to run into this issue. Could you please post the exact steps which you are doing?
Thanks,
MartinHello Martin, thanks for your help with this.
As you say, it adds an empty language above the ones I added, but if that’s not a bug, it’s OK.
I didn’t report this a a bug, I only asked how I can delete a language because somehow I have two English subtitles on one of our videos, so I naturally want to delete the duplicate.
I was unable to find a way to delete a language – and if I simply delete the link to the captions, it shows “Saved” in the bottom-left corner, but when I reopen the Editor, the link is back again!
I’m using Safari Version 15.4. When I get time, I’ll try with Chrome or Firefox.Hello Gillian,
the empty subtitle row is indeed a bug. Could you please reinstall FV Player from this link? https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/master.zip
To do that you will have to first deactivate and delete the current FV Player plugin you are using. WordPress will warn you that you might loose settings and data, but it’s not the case with our plugin, no settings now videos will be lost. Or you can just replace the plugin files via FTP.
Then the bug should be fixed and it should prevent the issue which you are having. I’m attaching a screenshot of the weird state I was running into without this fix – two subtitle rows with no language selected.
Thanks,
MartinThank you Martin. I’m not sure how to go about updating the plugin from your link – and I cannot risk the player failing. There is no great hurry to eliminate the bug, so perhaps it would be better if I wait for the next FV Player update..?
I could do it via FTP but again, I’m not sure which folder to upload to my plugins folder. (fv-wordpress-flowplayer-master)?
