Embed private YouTube videos into a secure membership site

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › How to … › Embed private YouTube videos into a secure membership site

I just purchased the pro version, create a Google console developer API key and successfully applied that key to the FV player. I embedded a private youtube into my membership WordPress page but when a test member logs into the WordPress site they are blocked from see the private Youtube. Please advise.

    Hi Stephen,

The private videos can be watched by other users since they are not public on YouTube. You can watch them on FV Player because you are logged in your browser. At least I think that the behaviour works like this. Could you please check the first video in this demo to confirm that?

    Thanks,
    Eduard

    Hi Eduard,

I am unable to watch the first video labelled “private video” as it says the video is unavailable. Please advise.

    Hi Cory,

That just proves that private videos can’t be played by the users, only by yourself. As I said, I’m not sure if this is caused because you are logged in your browser, or by some kind of cookie, but if you would try to watch your own video you mentioned in your first message in browser’s private mode, you will be unable to do so.

Therefore you should edit the privacy options on YouTube and make the video public if you want others to watch it.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

Let’s start again, We want to host our videos on youtube and use the FV Pro Player to embed our videos on a page of our site without the clients to be redirected to youtube or be able to download the videos. If we make the videos public they can be taken.

    Hi Cory,

I’m sorry but making the videos private will restrict the YouTube’s own Chromeless API (which our player is using for delivering content) to not show the videos even in third party players.

Even if the video was shown while being private, there would be no problem to download it with any of the free video downloading extensions.

If you want to protect your videos from downloading, you will, unfortunately, have to look for another hosting solution.

    Thanks,
    Eduard

There is a service that enables you to embed your private YouTube videos on your website. Check it out at Embed Private YouTube Video (http://embedprivatevideo.com/embed-private-youtube-video-pricing-plans/). They also released a WordPress plugin.

This way only your website members will be able to watch them but they will not be able to share them.

    Hello Dragan,

That looks interesting. We can do a more in-depth analysis of this on Monday and see what can be done.

    Thanks,
    Eduard
