can I use another service like google cloud storage to serve hls encryption?

I have a super small site but kinda want to secure videos but since my budget are tight, I wan to know that can I pre-encrypt files and host it on google cloud storage or s3?

Hello,

Google Drive don’t support HLS streaming so there’s no way to server encrypted videos via Google Drive. If you want to secure your videos you can use AWS S3 with or without CloudFront. If you wan to find more info about AWS you can visit our hosting documentation.

Ok. Sorry about my English, But Question is can I host self-encrypted videos on “google cloud storage” which to my understanding is completely different service from “google drive”. And I’m sure that I can host hls files there because all of my hls video files are stored there and still watchable. I just want to secure my video. I don’t mind paying for CloudFront, but I have almost 2000 hours long video that I can’t afford to pay for encoding services. From the answer that I’ve got, I have to presume that I can’t host my self-encrypted video at google cloud storage right?

Hello,

if you can play a HLS stream hosted on Google Cloud Storage (are you sure it works in Chrome as well? You need CORS headers to be able to stream HLS on all browsers: https://foliovision.com/player/video-hosting/hls#hls-js), then an encrypted HLS stream will work as well.
